I hope you enjoy this Chanel it was created to promote all aspects of Northern Soul and to make found memories, if you cant leave positive comments then please dont leave any at all I will remove negative ones. The whole idea is to showcase the wonderful music, the fashions, the events, the venues, the dancing, and most of all the people and community that come together ALL OVER THE COUNTRY to enjoy this lifestyle not to be nasty and ridicule people. Thanks for your help with this request.
My name is Ralph I recently retired having reached the landmark age of 65 “what do I do now ?” is the question I asked myself. What do I enjoy the most well that was easy to answer I love to dance and I love to listen to Northern Soul this love of the above started what seems a lifetime ago in the late 60’s when I discovered a small dark and dirty place called THE CATACOMBS then followed by THE TORCH for those with really good memories UP THE JUNCTION and the scene was cast that would frame my life.

@@brianboru62 it’s awful and not a good example of anything Northern Soul. I’ve never seen some of the moves/steps that some of these dancers are doing. The woman on the thumbnail is one of the worst. She crashes through the people like a bulldozer then does this jazz-hands thing which I’ve never seen. The whole video is a mess!

The problem is that people are taking up Northern dance classes and not learning the proper way where you dance the way the music takes you. I learnt like most in my front room developing my style and footwork to records that drove me to dance...
Paul Junior Walker, man! You’re spot on, hate classes, hate tv dances. Only those that learn thru life, ie. growing up with music will understand..dancing is all about enjoying, not counting steps, from a kid who can salsa but no like a pro, coz they suck, I cringe every time I see pros dancing, still, love northern soul, will dance it, can’t dance it, enjoy my salsa though

Well it's a second lockdown. I discovered these posts on the first one, never knew it was still going. Great music for me to dance along to in my living room and relive my youth, and I'm certainly moving on down the track. Brilliant .

I agree but in retrospect I only remember white SOUL boys/dancing to Northern SOUL in the 70s.
Nice this happened keeping soul alive! Most here would not cut the mustard at any 70’s soul club.

I come from the south but I love Northern soul, everybody is dancing young or old, just having a great time, we could learn a lot from your attitude to life down here.

Danced a Comp at Csamber in 2007 and it was fixed as lots of people told me they love to watch me dance . I got knocked out too early, not a bad looser. I just know that I am who I am and now just Dance for myself. Keeping the Faith xXx Qouls love to know who won this as the final 12 were ever dancing to a routine move or just listining to something else as other people have said. soul is a fealing not a dance routine!

Yes a lot of "manufactured " dancers. Over exagerrated moves. They havent got soul. Theyve got bandwagonitis.

I don't really know much about northern soul other than the dancing. I was born in 1993 and grew up listening too the stone roses and oasis being manc, I can see how it all fits in. I am obsessed withh manc music.. would love to get involved in the brighton mod scene. something to look forward too after this shite lockdown. RAVE ON
Come down to Brighton on the August bank holiday at the end of August, you won't be disappointed.

Rugeley was only off for 3months! Tho last time I went was not very well attended ? Crazy ! Same DJs as Essington, which is packed out?? At Rugeley never a bad tune. In 2000 when frank wilson came to Cala gran they told us no videoing under any circumstances. Shame that as I only sat on the stage and filmed the whole lot . I was so close you could see Frank's nasal hairs. If you want to see it il send you it
we where there sadly we were piss cans went into blackpool 11 am on the Saturday..missed all of it..1 of the lads ended up in Fleetwood..Didn't see him till a month later.

Sad the filming was cut, but I think the only talent there was the original old timers, the ones that was there in the day it was originated, whether they are slower or not this compition should be focused o on the these aged dancers....I was not there, but I but from this footage the goldens proved to be with style... Old is gold so they say...

A lot of criticism, Northern Soul is about dancing to great music, and dancing however you it makes you feel ... As long as you're enjoying yourself, wtf has it got to do with anybody else how you dance...?
It's a dance COMPETITION.. can we not comment on the quality of the dancing ? If it were just some footage of an all nighter I would agree with you entirely.

@@MJ.71 I do actually agree with you entirely my friend, NS is about enjoying the moment, the vibe of being there, the wonderful music and dancing your heart out, which I have been doing for the last 40 years (I'm 56 now). My comment related to the fact that we have seen some wonderful dancers in previous years like Stephen Hines, Aaron from Oswestry, Steve Cootes, all superb world class dancers in the Blackpool comp, and then last year when the TV cameras were there the standard of dancing was just not the same.. now I'm not sure why that was to be honest, I would have to guess.
