    I haven’t used my Lisa Pavelka foils in quite a while but with time on my side at present this has inspired me to get them out the draw. Thank you Debbie ❤️

    When my foils don't transfer, I use PC adhesive, spread a thin layer first then put the foil down 😊

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  3 года назад +1

      I'm not sure what PC adhesive you're using Kelly but if it's working for you that's great news. I've done some other videos on how you can use foils that don't transfer well. Love foils!! ♥

      hey Artie, you are more than welcome. There are just so many different brands on the market now, especially in the scrapbooking area but I'm sure there is always some ways we can use them. Have fun. x

    Love the tutorials-thank you so much!!! Could you please tell us what was the brand of foil that DIDN’T transfer? I was thinking of whether or not vinyl foil sheets would work in a similar way... 🤔

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  4 года назад

      Hey there, so glad you like the tutorials - great news and huge thanks. I found quite a few of the Ranger foils problematic along with the icraft deco foils. Jones Tones Hollographics also don't transfer to raw clay. You know I'm not sure what vinyl foils sheets you're talking about. There really are so many products like this on the market these days. If you have them on hand I would suggest give them a try and see how they go then you'll know for sure.

    if I put a foil or leaf on a polymer clay, what kind of varnish can I put on a top of these two?

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  3 года назад

      Hey Anna, I'm so sorry, I missed your message!!! It's important to remember foil and leaf are two different things. I would seal both of them if they were going to be used in pieces with heavy wear and tear. I would recommend Kato liquid clay as it highlights the shine of these products. It's also important to mention the composite leafings will tarnish over time so I would recommend using the good stuff. Hope that helps.

    One of the ladies in my polymer clay group says that if the foil doesn`t transfer it has a backing that needs taking off . I think water works to remove it

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  4 года назад

      Hey Sue, that may be a completely different foil you're talking about. Possibly one of the Lisa Pavelka Waterslide transfers? In which case, yes water would remove it. These foils are a completely different product. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the great video. I'm wondering - don't these foils tarnish over time? The Blue Bottle Tree has a post on metal foils tarnishing eventually, even after being coated with varnish.

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  2 года назад +1

      Hi Noabeny, thanks for getting in touch. You know these foils are completely different to the foils Ginger was referring to if I remember rightly. I have found "Leafing" to tarnish over time. Leafing comes in a variety of different finishes and simply adheres to the clay. Foils are a coloured mylar paper where the paper is burnished onto the clay then ripped away leaving the colour only. These are definitely my preference for certain techniques. Real gold leafing will not tarnish though. Hope this helps

    How workable is the clay after transfer? Can we still form it into figurines or just cut and apply now?

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  3 года назад

      Hi Kady, the clay is basically unchanged apart from a metallic colour on one side. You can pretty much do anything you want with it. The mylar paper actually gets removed from the clay leaving just the colouring behind. Such a great process with beautiful results.

    Hi Debbie.. do you also see fading of colors on clay when baked or kept on raw clay for long.. any tips.. my creations totally lose their vibrant colors after baking..

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  4 года назад +1

      Hi there, gosh it's so frustrating when that happens hey!! All that hard work and then it doesn't turn out how you want it to. I've never found the Lisa Pavelka foils to fade at all, regardless of what colour/pattern I'm using. Are you using nail foils or a different brand of foils? I've had experience with the nail foils fading considerably after curing and have mentioned it in one of the videos plus have mentioned it in a blog post as well (www.debbiecrothers.com/2020/02/understanding-foils-and-films-for-polymer-clay.html). Sure hope you can find a foil that works beautifully for you. Thanks for getting in touch. x

    • @debbiecrothers1
      @debbiecrothers1  2 года назад +1

      Hey Yvonne, no that's the beauty of this product. It doesn't need any adhesive as it's a heat transfer product (heat meaning burnishing). This product works best on raw polymer clay.
