Great Play-through. I pre-ordered this off their website so I can't wait to receive my copy later this month. This looks like a game that will jump to the top of my list of my best games.
So i wonder how much the game would have changed if you had changed your tactics on what the NPC's were doing. Stay a Tier 1 ship and destroy the Merchant, then neither the Enforcer or the Scoundrel would go after you. Then just keep destroying the Merchant when he is about to get 3 cubes. These will be the tough questions I'll be asking myself when I'm facing the "story" of this game. Adjust my tactics or keep to my own script.
That's the part of the game I love... there are many ways to play it. The problem with staying a Tier 1 ship is that it's hard to destroy ships fast enough to keep up with the Fame Points. Then, once the NPCs are at or beyond 11 FP they get stronger and it's even harder to destroy.
Thanks for the video! Here's a few things I've found in solo games. Being that you can sell and replace most of your outfits for little to no credit loss, I've been finding it useful to drastically change my ship as needed on a business phase. I try not to get ahead of the NPCs in the early game but instead keep cash rich and if possible tie them at the end of my turn. If I think I'll be destroyed by the Enforcer or Scoundrel, it's better to die and respawn. If carrying cubes and my death is eminent, might be time to fly into Xia, a comet or black hole so the cubes are burned up and don't add to the NPC die role. One thing - did you take 2 FP for being first to use the gates? I always thought it was one, for 'first player to use the gates', key words being 'the gates' and not 'this gate' . Perhaps this has been clarified somewhere, from your last video you seem to be a rules expert. :)
I like your ideas for the solo play. Will give them a try. In regards to Gate FPs... I think I have it wrong and you are correct. It does say exactly that... "THE gates." I will from now on only earn 1 FP for the first time used.
Hey I have a question I only have one sector which is completely blank (the lost sector). But you seem to have more of those. Where did you get them :)? Thnx Also, its fun watching you play. You do it really quickly. I've played 3 short (up to 5 or 10 Fame points) solo games up until now, and it still takes me a liitle time to organize everything and remember what to do, but I'm getting better. Unfortunately got my ass kicked everytime. Time to lower difficulty from "hard" :D I think i might have a chance on hard, but on longer games, because NPCs gain on me quite quickly at the start of the game, and right when I feel I have some more firepower and better ship, the game ends.
Maybe so but they're inexpensive. The Tier 2 and 3 outfits are under powered without the safety die, in my opinion, as the % chance to roll a 1 is equal to the % chance to roll the max.
i have Some Solo Questions. I played today and got my ass kicked. The problem i had was with the Scoundrel and the Enforcer. The Scoundrel came quickly in the game and starts with 2k bounty his beheavior was move and attack if not in range move again. The Enforcer was also quick in the game and had as beheavior, attack the player with the highest bounty then move and attack and do that again. and the scoundrel had 2 bounty's so he attacked him. Also i was playing on hard so he did shoot with 1 D8 and 1 D20 and this 2 times so the scoundrel was death. Wel at some point the enforcer had 5k credits the merchant got no credits because he had to move to the buy spaces to buy cubes so not getting money but when gettign 3 or more cubes getting 1fp every time. Now at some point there where also 2 cubes on the board and 5k at the enforcer. Giving them +4 for the cubes and +10 for the 5K makes 14 rolling a D20 for 17 + the 14 makes 31 is 5fp . Is that the correct way of counting the Solo Round end. Also not 100% sure if the NPC's attack each other I think i will play on normal the next time and try it again.
"Giving them +4 for the cubes and +10 for the 5K makes 14 rolling a D20 for 17 + the 14 makes 31 is 5fp" This would have been correct if and only if the 2 cubes were clear from the board AND the Enforce gained the 5k bounty in the same round. You don't always account for the money on the enforcer. Only the round he gains it. I would assume attacking only the scoundrel all game would have only allowed him to gain 2k per kill. That should have been +4 after each kill to the roll. "Also not 100% sure if the NPC's attack each other" They do if their behavior tells them to. "I think i will play on normal the next time and try it again." Oh my Yes! I've never played hard. Medium is brutal enough.
Oke so the 2000 credits the scoundrel starts with is not counted cos he did not earn it and only if the Enforcer kills him. It is counted toward the Solo Round End or am i wrong ?
I'm curious as to which of the campaign cards people are finding easiest to complete. Last few games i tried the 5 fame points through titles. i was able to beat the solo to 15fp twice out of six games but cant get 5 of those points from titles.. damn tough
The desginer (Ira Fay) mentioned that the lower FP ones were more designed to do after you've earned many of the upgrades from previous sessions. Keep at it and soon they should be do-able.
👍Thanks. Best playthroughs of this game I've seen yet. Your break down of the entire game was amazing. I have to get my hands on this game.
Shame you don't have any recent content, this is by far the best Xia solo playthrough video I have seen

It's pretty high on mine for sure! Enjoy your games when it comes in!

really great playthrough......
Great video as usual. Go NAVY!
@GamezMadeEZ where are the extra 'Lost Sectors' coming from? I have only 1 in my box
Thanks for the video!

Aren't the tier 1 outfits a litte bit underpowered if you can only roll an extra die using a tier 2 or tier 3 outfit??
Maybe so but they're inexpensive. The Tier 2 and 3 outfits are under powered without the safety die, in my opinion, as the % chance to roll a 1 is equal to the % chance to roll the max.
I'll add that you can resell Tier 1 outfit for the full price... so there really isn't ANY monetary commitment with them.
i have Some Solo Questions.

Giving them +4 for the cubes and +10 for the 5K makes 14 rolling a D20 for 17 + the 14 makes
31 is 5fp .
Is that the correct way of counting the Solo Round end.
Also not 100% sure if the NPC's attack each other
I think i will play on normal the next time and try it again.

Ex-cavating not es-cavating
I really don't like your house rules, but good video anyways
I've played about 7 solo games. love it, just havent won a single campaign yet.. still set up on the table to play again. :)
In 20+ plays... I've only won like 4 times. It's tough... for sure!
Sulucion One I
