    Top guy, great band, and still famous in my book.

    They’re still pretty famous. I suspect the last pretty much sold out tour, and the successful 2021 album, made that point.

    For some of JJ's notorious badassery go to hear Rock Stardust video. Jaw dropping tales of him setting some people straight in his own fashion.

      Badly. The Stranglers are a tribute band now. There is only him who is part of the original line up. Like a failed cabaret band they play on. Beer bellied fans of yesteryear dream on and watch dreaming of days gone by.

      @@ramalama9650 I have no problem with a band carrying on when the romance ends. As long as it evolves. They are not dining on their past successes. They have released new music since the old line up split and until the last couple of years they were the same members bar one. You are being harsh.

    From stories at the time in the late 70s JJ Burnel was the real Sid Vicious, he carried a genuine air of menace about him and looked the part. That Gallic don't take any nonsense and don't try that posh sardonic British smartass spiel with me.

    JJ should never be embarrassed, at least about his episode in Australia. The Channel 9 'Current Affair program has been renowned for setting up people, it's still going I think and that out of his depth interviewer is still doing the rounds as far as I know.

      Was there more to the interview with Michael Willesee at 0.35? It was 1979 and I wondered if there was a whole programme on it, or just these few minutes.

    "After they were famous"? Please! There's hardly a day goes by when you don't hear the music of The Stranglers either on TV or radio. Their kind of music doesn't suffer from the whims of fashion... it's pretty much timeless. I'd say they'll always be famous as they've left a legacy behind them that is a LOT of recorded music, which is still being made. They shouldn't be on a program about one hit wonders and ex-child stars.

      Spot on. I remember when this programe was first shown and I couldn't believe JJB took part in it. 'After They Were Famous' suggests has beens, which The Stranglers are not.

    'Love all mankind, self-seek fight is not allowed'. He didn't follow this philosophy when he was doing concerts, and slapping, thumping and kicking members of the audience, and diving from the stage and landing on top of them, cracking their heads with his guitar! Not to mention the journalists and fans who got punched for annoying him or giving a bad review - 'The Euroman Boreth'. As for poor old Hugh getting pushed through a wall ...............

    • @treasurehunteruk9718
      @treasurehunteruk9718 3 года назад

      @Leo Morriss Yeah, I realised they didn't get on, because the other band members have never said JJ thumped them, it was just Hugh. I thought he must have rubbed JJ up the wrong way. I read JJ said they were offered a million pounds for a reunion and Hugh said 'no'. Never forgave JJ.
