The Stranglers are indeed a strange band! The age difference, long hair and beard. Keyboards and synths. The stood out even when punk was at it's high in 1977. Jet Black was 39 when they released their debut album. Must be the case of an elderly man caught in a young mind or something. I find it interesting that he found the punk/new wave scene appealing despite his age. I would have liked to hear his reasons around this. BUT, it's like they say, it's never too late to change gear in life :P
I still hope for a reunion tour just so I could see the original line up live...was only one year old when Hugh left. Almost certainly never going to happen though, Hugh seems happy enough doing what he's doing whilst the others are still belligerent towards him so I can't see it ever happening.
