I feel richer for having seen this film but also a little melancholy. There's an amazing heritage just slowly vanishing. I travelled to this part of the States 30yrs ago (living near Durango across the State line) and fell in love with it......beautiful landscape and beautiful people.
Thank you for making this documentary. For the past two years, while the pandemic has kept me close to home after my recent retirement, I have become an avid knitter and appreciate good wool. Acrylic yarns are a No, No. I want to support sheep ranchers like you Antonio and Molly. Your documentary not only demonstrated the daily hard work and care of sheep ranching for a year, but also the dedication and love that is needed for this way of life. I am sorry that the community around you is in decline. I agree with you Antonio, if I won the Lottery, I would help to revitalize your community too. I hope your children carry on your traditional way of life. Maybe, if I visit my daughter this summer, I will go up your way. She lives in Los Alamos. I think New Mexico is beautiful. 😊
As someone who wants a life similar to this when I get out of the military, I respect the hell out of you both. When I move back home I would love to come out there and learn from you.
A very good film, farming and ranching is like art, its greatest value is finally recognized when they are gone, its sad AMERICA is loosing its farmers and ranchers
What an awesome video! I’m proud of where I’m from because of people like this, that take the time to keep traditions alive. It’s eye opening , and humbling.
It’s amazing how these men speak Spanish with something that sounds more like a Mexican accent, it sounds more like they had to learn English when this land passed from Mexico to the USA. New Mexico is a very unique place in the USA where Mexico and the USA meet in a very unique way and tradition still exist, it’s sad ‘cause this is a hardworking man if only he knew about trading wool and meat, and new techniques to perform his lob. Saludos desde el “viejo” México. Edit: I tried to have a nice narrative about how New Mexico has many things in common with Mexico among the name, gastronomy and language, but it seems a New Mexican tried to make it clear they are in all case closer to Spain than Mexico I have not a single like, so you know what? I was genuinely curious about getting to know more about this state but it seems as Mexican I am not “Spanish” enough so I won’t waste my time with a state that is often forgotten by most USA citizens. Adieu
@@gabelopez1965 you really think I don’t know that?! Where do you think my Spanish come from?! 🙄 I am just saying it evolved like it did in Mexico if you go to Spain people will immediately say you are Mexican the Spanish I heard here has nothing to do with how Spanish is spoken in any Spanish region. If you just want to differentiate from Mexico then just say it “I don’t want to be put in the same bag with Mexicans” that’s easier and faster
@@gabelopez1965 I said viejo Mexico in reference on how most people in the USA refer to Mexico as you are New Mexico. I tried to have a common ground but you just want to prove you are older and different than Mexico from your USA narrative of the European ancestry. What you say is not only false but absurd. New Mexico was part of New Spain with Mexico and yes Mexico is older than New Mexico we had the Aztecs and the Mayans among many other nations with their palaces and gastronomy, your food comes from Mexican cuisine there’s nothing Spanish in pozole, chiles rellenos, quelites and more (or very little for that matter) so yes Mexico is way older than New Mexico it also had the first Spanish settlements way before New Mexico. Right after all Spanish arrived to Mexico by Veracruz so all the Valle the Mexico among with cities like Veracruz, Puebla are obviously older than those in the north and south of Mexico (including former Alta California, Nuevo México and Tejas) And please don’t try to lecture me about Spanish language it is my first language for God’s sake.
