I've been waiting close to 50 years to see this movie again. OMG, it so much takes me back to being a 16 year old rat seeing my heroes and learning about the surfing world beyond my beach break. It inspired me to travel and to seek my own path. Thank you for whoever posted this, however shaky the footage. It's the content that I wanted, not the quality of the footage. Here's a shout out to my generation!

Was there, '69, too! Love this style of tube, reminds me of my old friend Wardy's "Boobs & Tubes" films, circa '69. Photographer for "Surfer Magazine" and others. He'd come over once in awhile, show his latest editions on our livingroom wall. By todays standard crude, we loved them, still do! Wardy Ward, too! Here's to you, Wardy, to all our photographing, surfing, musical and counter culture pioneers of yesteryears!

This is such a wonderful movie. The late sixties where such an important time in the history of surfing. The advent of the short board brought so many possibilities. I just love watching the styles, maneuvers...just incredible!

Hey look at that. At 6:25 it’s Bill Foster at the HB Pier talking about how the universe flows and doing his thing. Then at 11:11 it’s Mike Moir! Within 6 months, thanks to the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, both of these guys became consummate Westminster High School surf-stoners. History will judge Jeff Spicoli, Bill Foster, and Mike Moir as equals. When I think of it, the Brotherhood explains much of our high-school experiences. The Brotherhood explains why sometimes the hash was plentiful and then other times life was very bleak-I couldn’t put it all together back then, but I read the book and it definitely explains why and how things happened to us in Orange County. Mike was never concerned about his grades when I knew him. But he went on to become Mike Moir, the Surf Photographer. Which means he defied his parents and got a job in surfing. Maybe his deep soul-searching comments inspired him to never again live east of PCH. But where’s Foster? …….nobody knows.

I just watched this on a local independent TV station (KCNS-38) and loved it.
It is one of the most psychedelic movies I have ever seen.
It doesn't mention or even hint at LSD or other hallucinogenic drugs in any way but in 1969 it didn't HAVE to.
Its audience would have understood and dug the trip.
The music, the pacing, the visual effects, and the scenic beauty, and minimal human speech seem crafted for a tripping audience.
I noticed that the first visual effects occur between the 45-60 minute mark, just when a dose of acid would have kicked in.

That cracks me up. I have been forcing buddies for years to watch Joe Friday and Sgt Gannon protect us from a white #5 capsule. God knows what would happen to us if we ever became curious.

I think someone uploaded this and chose the image stabilizer feature. Worst thing to ever happen to youtube as it wrecks the scenes and warps it beyond belief. Unless they filmed it with a 1995 flip- phone? Looks like a good movie otherwise.

The opening music is by Bach. O sacred head sore wounded from St Matthew's passion.

The opening is by Sky Oats with Craig Doerge on the Mellotron that I borrowed from Brian Wilson. Then the band kicks in. We use that opening for "Billy's Blues" with Bill Hamilton later in the film, on a flat day.

Why does the picture keep jumping around, or is that intentional? I too saw this on kcns 38(the works) before the station went belly up. The picture was much clearer, not so fuzzy and not moving around. However this version has more footage that I don't remember from the televised version, though. I wish they could clean this up.
