    As your mystery spot, I had a similar situation and laid sod against house because I like grass and can care for it easier than shrubs.

      Pretty sure I know what I want to do there. Probably pull the trigger at the start of next month when weather should be slightly better. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    one thing that would be helpful to add. Can you start using the customer service staff to include some weed identification as you go through these spraying steps and applications? I have been trying to learn as much as possible, and being able to identify the weeds is a big part of spray applications.

    I would recommend another herbicide as well.. it’s called “trimec classic” a selective herbicide..
    Remember to wear gloves , as well as a respirator when mixing herbicide into anything.. thanks for the uploads good sir.

    While you were getting on your hands and knees to pull the weeds it appeared as though you were only pulling up the surface part of the weeds and leaving the weed roots in the ground for later growth and germination. I would think that if you are going to pull up the weeds that you would want to rid yourself of the entire plant, if possible. Did I not see the way you were pulling weeds correctly? Also, like other commenters here, identifying the weeds and how to address them specifically would be helpful. Thanks for the videos.

      Good eye! I was trying my best to get down to the roots. Tons of garbage in those beds that I need to clean up. Thinking we might start talking about ornamental bed maintenance and things like there here soon. I have some ideas for it. I really like the idea of working in weed identification into the series. My back yard is FULL of some good stuff we can talk about haha. Great idea! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Can you spray pre-emergent in your flower beds in the Fall to help prevent these weeds? Wasn't sure if pre-m would be harmful to shrubs, etc. like post-m.

    • @domyown
      @domyown  6 лет назад

      There are lost of great pre-emergent herbicides that you can use in Spring and/or Fall to help prevent weeds around established ornamentals like shrubs and flowers. We would need to know the specific weeds you are targeting and what ornamental plants you have to make the best recommendation since not all products may be safe or effective for your needs. One of our most popular pre-emergents for use around ornamental beds is Snapshot: www.domyown.com/snapshot-25-tg-50-lbs-p-1337.html

      Thanks. I've been using Prodiamine 65 WDG. Actually this is the first time I've ever used a pre-m! I miscalculated and used way too little a few weeks ago. But, that gives me more to use in the Fall for my split application :)

    Nice video Paul. You should take comfort in knowing that anything you see that is green in your neighbor's yard is a weed, and you can admire your completely brown and dormant yard! That means you're doing it right. Also, couldn't you do a split-app of Prodiamine in the flowerbed so you won't have to contend with any non-germinated weeds? That way it'll be weed free until you disturb the soil when you're ready to plant, and you won't have to reapply post emergents.

      Thank you very much. Funny you should mention that about my neighbors yards. We talked about that the other day at work. Kind of funny to admire a dormant yard but you are right. A pre emergent application is by far the most important thing you can do for your yard every year! It has made a huge difference for my yard, as you can see haha. Good idea about the flower bed. I might give that a shot and see what happens. Thanks for the tip, watching and commenting!
