It's sad Tim Robbins stopped directing after 1999 as I really feel he could've gone on to be one of the greatest and one of my favorite writers and directors, he remains one of my all time favorite actors though I wish he could've gone on to have more roles as as a leading man...I love this movie and Bob Roberts so much its almost enough to make him one of my all time favorite writers and directors on just those 2 movies alone and of course Sean Penn,Susan Sarandon and the whole cast do either an amazing or at the very least a solid job in their roles... definitely a movie that deserves far more love and recognition
Great review..I watched this movie yesterday and I literally cried for an hour. It is such a fantastic film..any film that can break my heart by killing a cold blooded murderer..that is a powerful movie. He isn't cold blooded..he was misguided..he still is responsible and my family has been victim of a couple of murders but man he should have got life 😭 when he was yelling at his mama..don't cry and isnmy mama okay..oh my heart lol another one is the life of David gale..I never got why that movie was rated so low..I liked it a lot.

No matter how you feel about the death penalty it was justified in this movie.
Sean Pean’s character was my mom’s cousin, Robert Lee Willie. They change the names except for Sister Helen in the movie.
