The girl he had been dating had broken off with him. He had broken into the Post Office next door to our building, trashed it, then sat down to wait. Turns out the background check the company did on him didn't pick up on the fact that he had spent 10 years in prison prior to being hired!. With his girl gone, his finances in a mess (don't know why that was), and management breathing down his neck about his job he decided life was better inside. When asked why he chose the Post Office he replied that Federal Prison was a "country club" compared to State Prison.

In Mexico, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria, the philosophy of the law holds that it is human nature to want to escape. In those countries, escapees who do not break any other laws are not charged for anything and no extra time is added to their sentence.

You don't find out AFTER you've been convicted which prison system you'll go to. If you committed a federal crime you go to federal court and then federal prison. State crime you go to state court and then state prison. You don't get convicted and then they decide. This video got the very 1st sentence wrong
Furthermore, if you're going to a federal court, you're probably being arrested by the feds to begin with. Your local city cops are usually not going to take you before federal prosecutors

Due to incessant assaults, even in out of state, state prisons. He was sent to a federal penitentiary for most of his term. It is not common, but they do sometimes house state criminals in federal prisons for various reasons...
You can also ask the judge to go to a Military Shock Prison. Sounds worse than it is but it's a very strict program where the military rehabilitates you with a strict program. Giving you the skills to succeed when you leave so you don't have to go back to prison.

In Canada, federal prison is for major and violent crimes and long sentences. Provincial prisons are for lesser non violent crimes and short sentences. It's kind of the reverse in Canada.
Well this is how was intended to be in USA as well, but the feds want to keep the violent criminals as long as possible in state prison because they deserve worse treatment and harsher conditions than they would have in federal prisons.

Guards work at the mall, we are corrections officers. We are trained to respond to fights, riots, medical emergencys and a million other situations that arise. And while yes there's always a couple of bad apples, the majority do there job with dignity.

It's true. Idaho is full of them. We have one for the nutbags in Orofino, one for the kids in St Anthony,, one for the women in Pocatello, one for the rapists and child molesters in Boise and probably a few others I don't even know about and I have been to NICI and ISCI... also known as Cottonwood and the State pen Both of the ones I went to are state funded and owned.

This is one of my biggest fears. I’m bipolar and borderline schizophrenic and marijuana is one of the only things that really helps me. Unfortunately, I live in a state where it illegal and I’m constantly afraid of getting caught. I wouldn’t last one day in prison.
In NY state prisons we have ar14s , Remington shotguns, glock 17s and several gas guns in all towers but we do not have any guns within the actual guns within the facilities themselves

Why don't we just put non-violent offenders on an ankle bracelet? Or just some device where their activities can be monitored, to keep them from commuting the same crimes? Violent offenders should be put in a facilities that are more like psychiatric facilities. Personality disorders are often the cause of violent crime. PA here. Our prisons are not called penitentiaries. They're called state correctional institutions, which is kind of weird since we're not technically a state, we're a commonwealth

Ok having done fed time the dining manager told me he gets $2.10 per day to feed inmates. Which is why meat was substandard that I complained to him about. Later found out he was embezzling funds we also had a warden under investigation for embezzlement at previous facility

That step was not necessary and has not solved overcrowding, especially as contracts with private prisons depend on 80-100% occupancy in close to half of all cases.
My uncle got 25 years in prison for robbery. He got out about 4 years ago. Trust me, he’s learned his lesson and has no plans of going back or committing any more crime
You get far less good time in federal prison. Your time is a lot easier, though. You have much more freedom to go places within the prison on the federal level.

PA here. Our prisons are not called penitentiaries. They're called state correctional institutions, which is kind of weird since we're not technically a state, we're a commonwealth

Ok having done fed time the dining manager told me he gets $2.10 per day to feed inmates. Which is why meat was substandard that I complained to him about. Later found out he was embezzling funds we also had a warden under investigation for embezzlement at previous facility
Worked at a state prison that for our food, it was 1.40 a day per inmate. State is a lot worse, trust me
Larry Lawton a former prisoner who spent 12 years in a federal prison would say federal prison are the worse and that USP Atlanta is the worst prison in the US.
And he's a expert on the prison system.
He never did time in Alabama or Mississippi Ibet.
He only did time in federal Max's. That doesn't make you an expert on state prisons or lower level federal prisons. He himself even admits that cause I watch him too. Being an expert in 1 thing, does not make you an expert in everything
Besides the fact that Atlanta federal was incredibly corrupt and abusive doing all kinds of terrible things and hiding it. They are more of an exception than a rule
If I had to go to prison in the United States, I would rather be in a federal camp.
When I was in jail 8 years ago. You could get super Nintendo for $500, games where $60 each, and gameboy colors for $350 in the canteen.

Federal sentances are also much longer and there isnt any parole they also come w 3 yrs of high lvl probation after u finish ur time they also can ship u anywhere in the country
It gets me how the corrections complex is beyond the biggest money grab on earth, especially in the U.S., but they can't even staff their facilities correctly. Even though most are privately owned, there is still some govt. entity pulling the strings.
Also, the majority of state prisons don’t have ac. It’s like an oven in the summer and a freezer in the winter. Whereas the feds have ac and heat.

First strike against accuracy before the two minute mark with the claim that prison overcrowding "required the intervention of outside help" from private prison companies. That step was not necessary and has not solved overcrowding, especially as contracts with private prisons depend on 80-100% occupancy in close to half of all cases.

The Most important difference is the amount of time you'll do but in the FEDS it's a little better I've been told.
You get far less good time in federal prison. Your time is a lot easier, though. You have much more freedom to go places within the prison on the federal level.
