That is why they went with the F/A-18F instead of the F-35C. The 18F is a dual seat fighter like the Tomcat was while the F-35C is like the F/A-18E and is single seat.
I am so hyped to watch this. I watched countless reactions to this movie and I saw it in theaters. I was like a little boy again when I first saw it, I dedicated my entire life to being a fighter pilot afterwards. I read a 580-page manual on how to fly an F-16 and use all the avionics and stuff when I was just a teenager and flew flight sims my whole life chasing that dream. Sadly, my poor vision kept me from being eligible.
When I saw it in theater's I gave it away that I used to fly because every time they were pulling G's I was doing the breathing required to get through a high G pull.
Man their reaction to this move is so amusing. We were all thrilled with this movie but their minds were totally blown. Probably partially because they never saw the first one. Raeen trying to wrap his mind around we're they actors who learned how to fly or are they pilots who learned how to act. We just know it's the wonder of movie magic and phenomenal actors. 😅

Successful as the first Top Gun movie was, to me it was just like a story on university students at a flight school, with a teacher in love with one of her pupils, two rival students (Iceman and Maverick) who eventually and predictably following Hollywood tradition will become friends at the end, two good friends (Goose and Maverick) and very little drama apart from Goose's death and probably the dogfight at the end. Therefore, I found it a good idea to play this movie for these two men, because even if they didn't watch the first movie, this sequel is way more complete and dramatic than its predecesor, and they are not missing much apart from Maverick's background, which is not such a big thing anyway.
One: MACH is the speed of Sound - 761 miles per hour. At Mach 10, he was flying at 7, 610 miles per hour. Two: Top Gun Maverick is a sequel movie. Why in the World wasn't the first original movie shown first ?

I agree but this film was produced with that in consideration. It's been so long since the first film was released that a lot of people have forgotten the details of the first one. But knowing them would've added to the emotional impact -- especially the ejection scenes. Maybe they should have told them that people died in the first film. 😉

The 2 star Admiral in this movie shared my call sign. Now if only I had left the navy wearing 2 stars on my collar instead of the silver oakleaves of a O5.
In reality he did Rooster a favor. It meant in order to get his commission he had to either go through a ROTC program while in college or did exactly what I did which was OCS after getting a BA. If anything, it set him back 13 weeks which is how long the OCS program is for. He did not have to deal with the academy which is not as easy or as fun to go to compared to a civilian 4 year college.

I dunno if these guys have seen the original Top Gun or not. I don't recall seeing a video of them reacting to it. It's not really necessary to see the first one. The movie can stand on its own two feet just fine. But I do think some of the emotional beats hit a lot harder if you saw the first one. And yes: Tom Cruise can indeed fly a fighter plane. But not because he was trained for his movie. But just because he is so ridiculously rich and so married to his work that he can pretty much do whatever he wants.
They didn't. And there's no real point in showing them the original anymore. The action scenes are much weaker and the story isn't great anyway. It's a classic but it will be an anticlimax after having seen Maverick first.

The proper thing to fight for are the people that share the values of the nation you hail from. Gets muddy when you want to serve in a western military...

Sorry to tell you fellas, but the actors are never flying any planes. It takes years and several million dollars to train a pilot. And less than 20% of pilots qualify due to health reasons or temperament or ability. These are just actors sitting in a plane and pretending to push buttons and steer the plane. The business about "10.0G" is pure fantasy. Half of pilots pass out at a sustained 6G. Almost nobody can tolerate 10G for more than a second. During actual training runs they are far too busy and focused to engage in any kind of chit-chat. Especially no silly outbursts like "watch out!". The dialog in this movie is aimed at 10-year olds. It's true that it's intended to be an honorable profession, and they are trained to high ethical standards, but most of the time the US military has been given the unfortunate task of blowing up mostly innocent poor brown people. Also there is no orchestra that follows them around all the time playing emotional and triumphal music. Yes, I got teary-eyed too, but you have to realize this isn't a documentary, it is an action fantasy. Don't go out and enlist after watching this movie! Most military experiences are hot, boring, stressful, dusty, dirty, demeaning, toxic, dangerous, and away from home for months at a time.
Am I the only one to observe that Babu just keeps laughing hysterically at nothing funny in the movie ? Not just this video, but all of them ? It's like he's completely at a loss about what is unfolding in the movie, so attempts to look relevant by constantly cackling.
