I love that Zak Brown is opening the doors of MTC, thankfully he doesn't have a God complex like Ron Dennis. Clearly McLaren is gaining new fans every day because of Zak and his refreshing attitude

McLaren haven't been able to use their wind tunnel for a few years after changes to cars front wings made the wind tunnels too small. As with some of the other F1 teams they have all had to use the Toyota wind tunnel in Cologne which is much larger. That's why Zak makes point of saying they are going to make their own wind tunnel larger, which is really great news.
Just another example of a reactionary regulation change that was made with no real thought. Also, all the teams that can are throwing money at their facilities now, ahead of the cost cap - which will be impossible to police and have little effect, given the advantage the top teams have been carrying for years now.
i used to work just down the road, in fact we had david and kimi's F1 cars in the foyer of our office - i worked on formula one 2000 by eletronic arts, we had the building down the road, also with a lake, a bar, it's own restaurant and of course a cinema, our building was also used in the ames/penrose/escher stairway sequence in the movie inception.
No, he wouldn't- he had years of other teams stealing the ideas he helped bring about-you can't blame him for secrecy- it's commercially sensible- trying to stay one step ahead- never good to criticise until you've walked a mile in the other persons shoes.....
@@simonbishop6041 with all due respect. I think he showed that he wasnt the leader he once was in his last few years at McLaren. Hence why he had to step away in order for the team he so dearly loves had to make steps forward. Not criticising the man cos he is an all time great, but I think what I'm saying does have elements of truth to them, or else he'd still be the top man at the circuits.

He was an all-time great leader although he apparently was difficult to work with/for- however that is true of many a great leader- it's lonely at the top- and having to take responsibility for others isn't always easy. Look at the achievements under his stewardship- The wins/MTC etc etc the road car range- that's massive- and also remember how many years the Mercedes engines detonated race by race in the early days and now look at them it's not easy and the blame he gets is unjustified IMO :-)
@@Firemarioflower Or maybe it's not simply two people responsible for failures in the organisation of the company, and they took a long hard look at everything, and made changes that are slowly paying off? Maybe two different management styles are equally valid under the right conditions?
I know this very very nit picky but I feel a little sad this video is colour graded so the Marlboro cars are pinky colours not the glorious red they should be. Good little video over all though

Exactly. Many were critisizing him when McLaren-Honda failed but it was Ron Dennis and Eric Boullier that was the problem, not Zak.
