Clemson proved to be the better kicking team. It also was the more disciplined team. SMU appeared to have more speed at the skilled positions. Also, SMU was more of a "Hold your breath" sort of team, due to the unpredictable style of QB Jennings, who also has speed. And he could fire the ball to capable receivers. That day, Clemson won. If they played 10 games, I think SMU would have won a clear majority of them.

SMU then spent the last 2 quarters taking advantage of Clemson playing insanely conservative, but Clemson had ONE final drive in their pocket and a GREAT field goal kick. If the committee actually wants a list of the 12 most deserving and 12 best teams, SMU has to be included in that list of 12. Don't punish teams for making their conference championships, the precedent that would set would destroy the play-off before it has even begun. Teams who set their ass at home this weekend and got a free week of rest should not be ahead of teams that made their conference title games, regardless of the result. We are about to find out if the committee is filled with liars or if they will honor their word.
