DJ Rachel, I can't believe I stumbled on this video - this is what my dream cocktail system would look like, to-a-T. Brilliant execution and thought. I've been contemplating buying another Everse 8 and Yorkville mobile sub with small table, but I think I changed my mind. Especially with the 3D printed shelves....what a game changer. Please continue your great content - it's been super helpful for DJs like me stepping back into the arena.
So glad you found this help! Appreciate your comment. I’m actually doing an updated version with the Everse 8 and a 3-D printed shelf so you may want to hold off but either way this has been a tremendous system. Both speakers are fantastic.
DJ Rachel you are way ahead of your time!!! Love your concept! You inspire me to be better than what I thought I could ever be in the DJ game!! Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!! This is a game changer and a great constant money maker!!
Awesome Rachel. I h streamlined mine a bit more and its so much better now having everything in one unit. Your set up is super modern and amazing!! See you in a few months at Expo!!
Thank you for your kindness. I definitely don’t know everything but I try to be as helpful as possible as I figure things out in my own. Thanks for stopping by the channel! 🙋🏼♀️
Great vid Rachel! I highly recommend looking into a distribution system for the mic. They amplify the signal and make the mic much more full proof outdoors. If you’re doing a ceremony in any type of metropolitan area, there’s a high chance for drop outs using the mic only. Trust me I got burned sooooo many times in my life 🤣
Nick - do you happen to have any product recommendations for a mic distribution system? I had this exact thing happen to me at an outdoor ceremony the other day and I am NOT about to let that happen again!
@@djmaryhall7796 I would HIGHLY recommned reaching out to Ben Stowe from NLFX Professinal (www.nlfxpro.com/). This is where I get all my DJ gear and Ben is a WORLD CLASS audio guy. He will get you EXACTLY what you need. E-mail customercare@nlfxpro.com or look him up on facebook. He will get back to you. :)
Nice vid Rachel. I would add - one thing many people are unaware of is the crossover point of most column line arrays favors speech intelligibility - keeping the critical “voice” frequencies out of the low frequency driver. Also the tight spacing between the full range drivers make it very resistant to feedback. Love the look of the white EV!
I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for saying this publicly. The EVOLVE series is one of the best speakers available for vocals and it’s almost impossible to create feedback. Super impressive!!
Omg! Ur such a lifesaver I came across ur video and wow ! I’m about to purchase all this, so much information to this! I have so much gear it’s so tiring !!! Thank you !!!!!
I couldn’t believe how perfect they fit! I have about 20 pairs of wired ear buds from all my iPhones over the years!! It was perfect! ❤️💪🏻 Thanks for stopping by the channel!
Amazing job again DJ Rachel! Really understanding the power of portability with the 30Ms and for ceremony, cocktail, main and fill speakers, game changer! Loving the addition of the iPad (Pro?) with my favorite Djay Pro software. (Still have been learning VDJ, you have more investment in VDJ, but I am hoping to get the Roland 707m mapped to Djay Pro someday!) I have been using my Prime Go for ceremonies, but I do love the quicker/sleeker look, my other thing is I normally have a total of 4 mics; 2 lav mics, one for the officiant & groom (not always for the groom, but 80%), and handheld for readers just in case, and a mic for me to make announcement for unplugged/cocktail instructions, etc.; so that would be my conundrum to work on with the shelves. But LOVE the videos and it is all about streamlining!
Thank you for checking this out! I love DJAY PRO. The Roland 707M is now my main controller. I have it in my Infinity DJ Console. You could still utilize the additional inputs on the back of the 30M and just bring a small table instead of the shelves like I have. The 30M is still an amazing choice for a ceremony speaker and cocktail hour because it’s small, portable, loud and GREAT sound coverage! Wishing you a fantastic event season!! Stay well. ☺️
Hey DJ Rachel, you’re a smart DJ. Here’s what I do for my ceremony set up, keeping in mind that ceremony doesn’t require loud music or last very long. So for a 200 or less guest ceremonies, I use JBL compact one (it’s battery powered) has more than enough sound for that size ceremonies, plus a sure lapel mic that I run a battery powered it, and I have all the wedding request music on my iPad that links the the JBL via Bluetooth. So far, works great. Oh yes.....I also have a backup battery for the JBL.
Nice job! Thinking of doing something similar to my Maui5 Go but all black. Have been using the Colorado & Lighting power 12V power packs for my Sennheiser mics and probably velcro to a shelf like you did here. Thanks for providing the email to the 3D printer of the shelves, much appreciated. Let's blow 2021 out of the water!
The Maui5 Go is a bad ass speaker! Great choice. Happy to share ideas and help out! Have a great 2021 event season. Thanks for stopping by the channel. :)
Quite an awesome set up. Our Wedding Entertainment and Photography business has done the same thing this year. We are using array speakers wirelessly, and also a Ipad for ceremony with a Bluetooth extender. I can place 4 arrays throughout the venues, and also use am additional sub for more bass at larger venues. Streaming is the way to go..especially this year as gas prices will go crazy!!
We definitely need to be flexible and find ways to make our jobs easier. DJs love gear (me included) haha and sometimes bring more than what’s needed. I’m all about simplifying! Sounds like you have a dope setup!! Hope you have a great 2021season!
Isn’t it a great DJ app? You’re going to love it!! I have 50s too! Love them. May grab one 30M just for a satellite speaker? Or for something like this? It’s a GREAT addition to have!
Finally someone said it - thank you - watts don't matter ! stop looking at speaker watts all the time, it's nearly pointless. That being said - a 4 db difference is very very significant. Should be a huge difference in output volume. The problem I do have with these specific spakers compared to say the RCF ones, is that you can't raise the tops higher which is a big problem if you have a really big crowd or even a small crowded one, or if you need the sound to travel to a long distance. Still, great great video as usual. Thank you :)
Thanks for checking this out! ☺️ Yes! We need to stop focusing on watts! 💯💯💯 I appreciate you saying so! I have to say the EVOLVE50S have an impressive coverage range. It really does fill the room nicely. I do like that design feature with the RCF’s though! Honestly, if it’s a big crowd, I’m probably bringing a bigger system, so it’s never been an issue for me. I don’t use these at events where they aren’t a good fit. Ya know? I think some have unreasonable expectations for these micro systems. Where I think the 30/50s shine, is the fact that the “loudness” and “warmth”is focused on the dance floor, so people can still socialize around the room and those who sit in the back and just wanna chat or observe aren’t being blasted with music and bass. I really like that they don’t over power the space and allows for people to enjoy the party how they choose (on the dance floor or relaxing). Thanks for stopping by the channel. Enjoy the holiday weekend.
@@DJRachelLynch What a great response. Of course I "stop by" - that's why I'm subscribed ! Honestly, this is probably the best response I ever got from a channel owner - perfectly said on all accounts ! Made me laugh a little about the "expectations" part - very very true, and great point about keeping the sound on the dancefloor - in some events that's even more important for the customers than having more volume... And from now on every time I'll read someone posting an opinion/review about a speaker and focusing on the wattage - I'll be lol'ing as usual but also thinking of you :) No holiday for me - half way around the world in Israel..., but thank you again for taking the time to reply and keep these fantastic videos of yours coming !
@@d.s.6268 thanks funny! I’ll probably be doing the same with every “watts” post or video. Thinking back to this very chat right here. My apologies, I wasn’t sure where you were “stopping” in from, so we’ll just say have a safe and wonderful weekend! 😉
@@DJRachelLynch Yeah, you certainly have a way of saying things perfectly. Despite what we all saw at the end of the video... :)) Now you go and have yourself a well deserved great holiday. Much love.
Very nice, compact and useful setup, i like it a lot, the only thing is the prohibitive price of those speakers or certain column array in general. Nice Job!
Great video! I haven’t purchased a separate rig for cocktail/ceremony yet so I’m still moving things back and forth with the help of an assistant but I know now what kind of things I should look for! Beautiful and thank you for the video
Wow, I'm speechless at this production.. absolutely amazing.. I was using a DJ pro with my iPad and Spotify which I really liked a lot but of course they stopped allowing Spotify with DJ pro.. I guess I can just use apple music with the DJ pro, I'm kind of new at this so I'm not sure exactly how I would use my existing DJ pro app..
Appreciate this a lot. I’m based in CT and have been at this about 15+ years. I like making videos. I wish I had when I was trying to learn how to do this, so I try to make as much content as I can for the community. Appreciate your time to stop by the channel!
@@DJRachelLynch thanks you’re the best that I have seen on RUclips so far I appreciate all your input for fellow DJs. One last question if you don’t mind what do you think of the Bose L1 pro series compared to the EV 30 M?
@@pauls3880 Respectfully, I don't really like answering questions like this because sound is so personal. What my ears like, yours may not. In terms of performance, it's a simple Google search to find what numbers align with your needs, like SPL and specific coverage patterns. However, I can tell you that I am not a fan of Bose stuff at all. I find them overly compressed and muddy. However, others love them, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I would take the 30M all day.
@@DJRachelLynch thank you I respect your opinions and views you are very professional. I wish that I was near so I could hear you gig a wedding I myself just got back into gigging weddings, after being out of it for 12 years. I always enjoy it and consider myself pretty lively but I was raised on the old school mixers and not DJ controllers. I am trying to find a way educating myself on DJ controllers, but I can tell it takes a little bit of know how. Have a beautiful holiday season..
Rachel, you should do product/gear reviews as an aside thing. You are so good at it. I watch even when I'm not buying equipment. My DJ (female too) boss does not get technology, as much as I try to train her on her gear, so I guess that's another reason I watch your vids. But I suppose that if she 'got it' like you do, I wouldn't be as well paid...lol.
I appreciate this a lot. Thank you so much for supporting the channel. I always try to be helpful and informed when I can. I definitely enjoy diving in to my gear so I can feel confident using it and know how to troubleshoot it. By teaching others it helps me be better at what I do. Thanks for your kindness. Made my day! ☺️
I'm certainly going to be looking into a column array speaker of some kind or another. My go-to system consists of a pair of ELX112's and ELX118's, which is overkill for much of what I've found myself doing. For really small events, I really don't need more than a column array.
Nice compact setup! Where’d you get the 3D printed shelves, or did you make them yourself? If you made them, how much would you charge for the same setup you have with your shelves?
Hello Rachel! I’m a solo musician/singer and not a DJ, however I still really benefited and appreciated seeing your excellent video. 3 questions, did you go for the extended warranty on the EV 30m, or pass? Did you at any point consider the Bose L1 Pro 16? Where did you find the neoprene mat? Thanks very much! I’m starting to lean toward purchasing the 30m even though there are positives (and negatives) to the Bose.
Thanks so much for checking this out. Glad it was still helpful. The 30M is a GREAT speaker. 1. I did not get the extended warranty. 2. The Bose S1 has significantly less output than the 30M. If you compare numbers to numbers the 30M is in a different performance class. This is also reflected in the price points between the two. The S1 is only 103 DB and a 6.5 inch sub. The 30M is 123DB and a 10 inch sub. Also the fact that the 30M has an 8 channel Dynacord mixer. It’s a more flexible speaker IMO. 3. The mat came from Amazon. It was a 4 pack.
@@DJRachelLynch Thanks Rachel! I’m not seeing anyone yet who has splurged for the extended warranty. The subject is a bit controversial, and the cost can get expensive. Thanks for the info on the mat too. 😉. On the other, the one I’m talking about is the Bose L1 Pro 16. Specs say 124db and the sub is a 10x18 racetrack design supposedly equivalent to a 15. The power and output is intense , but the assembly seems like garbage. The column fitting is shoddy and they wobble quite a bit. It seems unstable but users don’t seem to be concerned, which is odd. That aspect and the mixer on the 30m to me seems superior. I think the Bose is capable of supporting a larger venue. Cost with the Bose is $400 higher. Based on awesome videos like yours and my particular needs, the needle is tilting toward the 30m. Too bad Bose cut corners on the assembly of the L1 Pro 16. I’m headed to Guitar center today to revisit a comparison and demo. Thanks again!
@@DJRachelLynch I'm just starting my venture to provide sound for ceremonies and such. I would love to converse with you if you have time on what you did to get your business going. Thanks.
Very Nice video that I’ve been waiting for But I have questions You store music on your ipad? The ipad shelf... any vibration from the speaker? At ceremony where to usually set??? Back of the crowd or front?? I know you looking for a white mic receiver or white everything 😃😃😃
Thanks for checking this out! Yes I have all my music stored on my iPad. Since it’s a 1 TB iPad I can fit almost anything I could possibly need for ceremony cocktail hour and a basic event with all the hits. I’ve been blasting the speaker for about two weeks straight as I’ve been setting this up. There is no vibration from the speaker. It’s fantastic. I base my set up on where are the power source is, am I out of view from photographers, line of site for mics, and crowd size. I always try to setup in back if i can. It really depends on the venue and setup. A white mic base would be cool!
Thank you for another amazing and informative video. You are a huge help to us djs that are looking at equipment to buy/use. I use the 50s but am looking at getting the 30s. Love your work even if you can't say "real world" hahaha I can't even say congratulations 🙄
Great setup. Still thinking of getting a column array for the same reasons, I strait up need to get more streamlined. Ceremonies should be a 123 setup. And that DJay Pro by Algoriddim software is dope. I have for Windows and Android. Love it, but you do get more features with Mac and IOS. Great vid and tips.
Thanks so much for checking out the video. Sometimes it takes a while to go back to the drawing board and figure out what you can streamline but in the long run it’s worth the investment and time spent. Anything I can do to make things less stressful for me I’m all about it.
Loving the content, keep it coming! Just looking at my options to purchase the 30M or 50M for my setup. Can I ask if those white XLR ‘Right Angled’ cable on the 30M are standard with the speakers or did you purchase them separately? Thanks 😊
If you’re planning on using this for ceremonies and very small events the 30M would make the most sense. If you’re planning on using this as a “main system” at some point the 50M would be better choice. Their is a significant difference between the two as mentioned in the video. The right angled white cables were a special order from NLFX. Link to purchase in description.
Great video and breakdown! I’m a beginner DJ and have a quick question. I live in a small rural area in KY where people don’t invest much in DJs for weddings. I have the same Starlight controller. You said it would be good for ceremony/cocktail hour/a backup. If I had an external mixer, do you think the Starlight would be suitable for a reception also? Most “DJs” in my area literally just plug a laptop into a mixer and play a playlist, no actual mixing, so I’m wondering if the Starlight would be suitable for ceremonies until I get the hang of it.
There is no right or wrong here. 🙂 As long as you can deliver the services and performance you promised to your client and do so reliably then use what works for you. There are lots of great second hand controllers out there that will offer more flexibility and premium inputs/outputs. Of course this would be suitable for ceremonies/cocktail hour. That’s the whole point of the video. 😉 All the best to you on your DJ journey. Thanks for stopping by the channel.
Rachel, I’m a DJ from OKC. We think a lot alike! You are awesome. Great video. I’m tempted to buy a couple m30 now because you gotta buy them in a pair right! Lol
🙋🏼♀️ Nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by the channel. I LOVE my 30M! Still using the same system and setup you see here. It’s been great. The 30M came in very hand for my 2021 wedding season. I just grabbed a pair of 50M too. Definitely grab a pair if it’s within budget. Makes a awesome micro system for small events or filler speaker! 💯👌🏻
Awesome video, a lot of great tips here. I never thought to use my iPad with the Hercules. Any chance you could do a walkthrough video on that hookup? Thanks so much!
It is a perfect pair. They work flawless with one another. When you’re using DJAY PRO AI, it’s literally plug and play. There is nothing to walkthrough unfortunately. Plug the controller into the iPad, open up the program and BOOM, you’re ready to go!!! It’s a fantastic option for ceremonies, cocktail hour or as a backup. :)
@@DJRachelLynch sorry, I should have specified. How do you load your music to your iPad? Through iTunes? Through files? I don’t really use my iPad for iTunes, I use Spotify primarily. So how do you add your music to your iPad? Thanks in advance!
@@dmurph6951 Ahhhhhh. Got ya! I load my own music on to the iPad via ITunes. You can’t stream Spotify with this program. To my understanding, Spotify doesn’t work with 3rd party apps, but there are other streaming services integrated into DJAY PRO AI that you can use in additional to have music physically loaded on to the iPad.
I got to use it for the first time on Saturday! If you haven’t already, check out my newest gig log. You’ll see it and hear it in action! It was amazing!
I use a simple inexpensive “clear rubber” case and a anti glare screen protector. Everything was probably $30. Works great. Not bulky or heavy and allows me to plug in the hub.
Quico question Rachel, I run a karaoke business. Would you be able to mount the brackets to face the sides? And would your contact the shelves have shelf for a laptop to fit the EV? Thanks in advance 🤙🏼
I would not feel comfortable putting a laptop on this shelf. I’m not saying he couldn’t design something, but what you see here would not support your average laptop IMO. The brackets are designed to fit the square shape of the pole you can mount them in any direction.
Hello. Do you mic up groom/bride for vows. If so what do you use? I’ve been getting requests lately to have them mic’d up. Thank you so much for this video I have all the same equipment and I’m about to order the shelves from the company you recommended. Love your videos! Can’t wait to be streamlined and work smarter not harder! One other thing I want to do is upgrade my wireless microphone system if you can provide links as to who you recommend to buy the EV Microphone system I greatly appreciate it too
Thanks for stopping by the channel! I almost never mic the bride. I do the officiant and groom only. Their mics are enough to amplify the bride. I highly recommend the Electro-Voice RE3 for a mic (shown here). You can get the “ BPT” (body pack for ceremonies). Ben Stowe from NLFX Professional is your guy. I wouldn’t order a microphone from anyone else!
@@DJRachelLynch I just visited their page for the system. Can you use 2 body packs with the one receiver on same channel. I was under the impression you had to have a two channel receiver. Also if you need a Mic during ceremonies with the new streamlined setup what do you do for that? Sorry For all the questions I’m just trying to buy everything once and set it up before my next wedding in June
@@djjerryg_soundexpressenter5874 I have 2 shelves on this setup so I can have 2 mics. I haven’t had a need for more than 2 mics for a ceremony but if I did I would just use an additional input on the 30m and bring a small table.
IMO Bluetooth shouldn’t be used in professional applications. A direct audio wire connection is more reliable. Bluetooth can have issues with interference and dropouts. For the 3 seconds it takes the plug in a audio wire, it’s worth it for the reliability. My clients deserve perfection, so I do what I can to make sure my performance and audio is reliable. Bluetooth is a consumer grade feature. The controller is so I can mix music during cocktail hour if I want. It’s hard to mix music with your fingers on an iPad.
I have a 30m, ipad, and Hercules starlight. How did you hook up the audio? Did you run a 3.5 out of the Hercules master to a XLR to the back of the mixer? Thx in advance
Do you ever experience any drop outs with the EV RE3 wireless using only 1/2 wave antennas? I'm buying two units soon and have been advised to buy directional/fin antennas to avoid drop outs...?
I personally haven’t experienced any dropouts but fins are always a good option and will significantly increase your range. It’s a good move. I’ll never suggest otherwise. 👌🏻
that dj pro ai looks like a good program for the amature dj that might book a few events thruout the year not having to pay $200 for professional software still use a numark controller for up to 150 guests.
It’s has the SAME functionality as any other software like Serato or VDJ. This quick demo didn’t go into details about the program. It’s not for “amateur” DJs. It’s a fully featured program. To unlock all the features of its $50/year so in theory you’re spending more in the long run versus paying the $299 for VDJ or whatever your preferred program is. If you watch the video, you’ll see that I’m not DJing my night life or private events from my iPad (even though I could. I CLEARLY explain I’m using this for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hour or as an emergency backup if my main unit went down. DJAY Pro AI is more than enough to use for basic wedding formalities. 🤷🏼♀️ Works great, easy to use, and definitely a professional program.
It is designed to regulate the dynamic range of audio signals by reducing the volume of loud sounds and boosting softer sounds. DJs use compressors for several reasons. Firstly, it helps to smooth out the audio levels, ensuring a more consistent and balanced sound. This is especially useful when playing tracks with varying volume levels or when transitioning between songs. Secondly, compressors can help protect the speakers and amplifiers from damage caused by sudden spikes in volume. By reducing the peaks, compressors prevent distortion and clipping that can harm the equipment. Overall, the compressor allows DJs to achieve a polished and professional sound, while also safeguarding their equipment.
How much weight or stress can be put on the EV pole adding all these shelves with hardware on them? What does the manufacturer of the EV Speaker say about put all that stress on the pole?
People attach entire Chauvet gig bars to these things so this isn’t even close to the same weight. It’s obviously not recommended by the manufacturer but the self is basically weightless. The heaviest thing is the iPad.
Hello DJ Rachel, I was wondering what you’re using to store and transport the shelves so they do not break during transport etc.? I have a ceremony coming up in few weeks and Haven’t figured out what to use.
I was lucky enough to come across a 45L travel bag at Target that fits the shelves and all my other ceremony gear. :) It took me FOREVER to find something.
@@DJRachelLynch thanks earlier I spoke with 2H3D designs. He recommended and uses a pelican type case. I found the one he’s using , the Apache 4800 case with foam insert at Harbor Freight and it fits perfectly. i wish I could show you the picture.
I think the mini controller is a little overkill you could do away with that you don’t need it but good luck to you. I have two identical laptops I bring to every gig. When I do ceremony and cocktails I just use my other laptop.
Hi Lou. Thanks for stopping by the channel. I appreciate your time to check this out. I recall in the video saying you could absolutely use your just your finger (no controller needed), but I like having the one available. I don’t need to “DJ” the ceremony, however, I like having physical buttons to use rather than use my finger. It’s more comfortable for my workflow. I also am using the small controller as a way to “pre-cue” and hear the music. I was bringing a Roland 707M previously for my ceremony and cocktail so this makes much more sense IMO. As for cocktail hour I absolutely do “DJ” it. I don’t drag up mindless playlist and just let them run. I think cocktail hour is a great way to prime the crowd and build energy before the grand entrances. 🙂 In fact, this is where the majority of my crowd reading happens. Who’s drinking? Who’s tapping their foot? What’s the vibe or their party level? I can take chances musically and see what works and far I can push them. It’s a missed opportunity for many DJs. Cocktail hour is one of my favorite parts of the event! So I put in the extra effort to mix and I feel I can do that better with this little controller. I also like the fact I can also use it as an emergency backup unit or something happened to my main one. The best part about this job is there are million ways to do it. I love seeing how others execute their events and brainstorm.
Hey Rachel! What a cool set up. It's very compact as well as efficient. Last year I used my Starlight, and it us a work horse. I do like the DJ Pro, but I agree with you about not streaming the music. That would be a disaster, especially if the wifi went out lol. I appreciate all of your videos and great content. #Salute
Good to know!! I have not had a chance to use the Starlight out in the field yet, but I’ve heard great things! Thanks so much for checking this out and your feedback! I’m definitely a big fan of have the music but access streaming to “pad” the database if needed. 💯
All DJ software offers the same fundamental features. Both are professional. Both a great programs. It really boils down to your workflow preference and what bells and whistles are important to you. I prefer VDJ as it has some features that are important to me like STEMS, auto mix for cocktail/dinner, and their file management ability. I’ve been a faithful VDJ user for 15+ years. It fits my mixing style and event needs to best, but you may feel differently. My best advice is try both. Be comfortable on both. And choose which one suits your needs best. 👌🏻💯
@@DJRachelLynch Absolutely love all of your content. You’re basically Virtual DJ guru and I was wondering what controller you felt is the best for Virtual DJ?
@@MrK33bz always happy to help! 😊 Since virtual DJ is MIDI based, it works with any controller, so it really boils down to your brand and layout preferences. I use Roland and Denon.
1.iTunes is Apple's solution for you to transfer files between your computer and iPhone/iPad. 2.Cloud-based storage services like Dropbox, Google Play Music, and Amazon enables you to share files across your devices that use the same account. To get music from the computer onto your iPad, you can upload the songs to the cloud storage and then access and download these items to your iPad from its app. All these cloud services work similarly. 3.Downloading music on iPad directly is convenient but you need to pay for the items. 4. Or use a streaming service like Tidal or beatsource Link.
I use a iPhone 13 Max Pro. Apple Music, Apple's music streaming service, can't be accessed in djay as there's no way for 3rd-party DJ style apps like djay to play songs from Apple Music. The music available on the streaming service is DRM-protected. The same applies to songs downloaded onto your device from Apple Music, the streaming service, as this music is DRM-protected.
I would say most events would require at least the 50s. It’s not just about “room size” it also has to do with bodies and what the sound expectation is with the client. You’ll have more flexibility with the 50s. That’s my recommendation.
The answer is always, it depends. It depends on the TYPE OF EVENT your doing. It depends on HOW DENSELY PACKED the people are going to be. It depends on your SOUND OBJECTIVE (how you want to fill the space). It depends on HOW LARGE the room/dance floor is. It depends on HOW LOUD you need to be at the farthest point in the room. It depends on the UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS of the venue/room. It depends on your CLIENT’S EXPECTATIONS (think student prom vs corporate picnic; do they want or need to to be crushed by sound?) It depends on INDOOR/OUTDOOR considerations (sound moves differently with and without walls). It depends on your knowledge of PROPER GAIN STRUCTURE and knowledge of BUILT IN FEATURES of your speakers. It depends on what your speakers are realistically DESIGNED FOR/CAPABLE OF. Maybe some other things I’m forgetting too. Point is… Always do a site walkthrough. Always understand what is being asked of you. Always know the performance limits of your gear. They rock events for me weekend after weekend. Zero complaints. 🙂 I’d recommend the 50s for larger parties.

@@djmaryhall7796 If you use shure look up the Shure UA844+SWB .. Senheiser and EV have similar products but I don’t know the model names

Great video Rachel! I love all your hacks, like the earbuds holder, genius!
I have a JBL EON too! GREAT speaker. That would be my go to if I needed a batter option. That’s a great setup you got there! 💯🙌🏻
Nice Setup, We just added the EV30M to our setup. Great speaker!!
Excellent!! Fantastic speaker!
Great stuff as always Rachel
Thanks for stopping by to check this out. 👊🏻

@@DJRachelLynch yes! Great app!! Been using DJay2 forever and didn’t update till your video…the AI is freakin amazing

Agreed! It will definitely save some of your work load and streamline your setup. 💪🏻
Nice compact setup! Where’d you get the 3D printed shelves, or did you make them yourself? If you made them, how much would you charge for the same setup you have with your shelves?

You hit a homerun with this video
I appreciate your time to check this out!
that little thing is pretty bad ass. i like it
It’s a GREAT little controller! Thanks for checking this out!
Very well spoken and explained. Good job!
Thank you. 🙂

Very Nice video that I’ve been waiting for
But I have questions
You store music on your ipad?

Ceremony?? Yes.

@@DJRachelLynch Thanks again your input is appreciated!
Hey dj rachel thanks for this video.. My question is how come u just dont use the ipad to the 30m using bluetooth why use a controller ?
IMO Bluetooth shouldn’t be used in professional applications. A direct audio wire connection is more reliable. Bluetooth can have issues with interference and dropouts. For the 3 seconds it takes the plug in a audio wire, it’s worth it for the reliability. My clients deserve perfection, so I do what I can to make sure my performance and audio is reliable. Bluetooth is a consumer grade feature.
The controller is so I can mix music during cocktail hour if I want. It’s hard to mix music with your fingers on an iPad.
@@DJRachelLynch I was thinking about doing you're setup but wouldnt know how u hooked everything up im not tech sappy
I have a 30m, ipad, and Hercules starlight. How did you hook up the audio? Did you run a 3.5 out of the Hercules master to a XLR to the back of the mixer? Thx in advance
Yes. 3.5 (headphone) into the Hercules and the XLR into the back of the 30M.
Thanks so much. Appreciate your time to stop by the channel. ☺️
Rachel, what does the compressor do on the electro voice 30 M, what would you use it for? Thanks, Paul.
Hi Rachel, do you typically use (2) 30Ms for ceremonies? can you get away with one?
I never use two. Always one for the ceremony and one for cocktail hour if needed. 🙂
What kind of pad do you have the speaker sitting on and where dd you get it?
The link to it is in the video description. It’s off of Amazon. 🙂
You ARE that CHICK! Keep pushing ma'am!

Where do you buy those shelves that are attached to the aluminum poles to put tablets and mic receivers?
I don’t use that style so I can’t give you a link. But I’m sure musicians friend or AMAZON would have them.
Thanks Rachel for the insight. It’s been 10 years since my last Wedding gig or any gig. With gear like this I may start up again. Lol.

Hi Rachel- is Virtual DJ a choice versus Serato DJ Pro ? thanks

Rachel, I’m not sure if this has been answered yet, but, what is your method of getting ceremony songs transferred to the iPad?
iTunes. 🙂
@@DJRachelLynch Absolutely love all of your content. It has helped me tremendously throughout the years, but more so in the last six months, since I started DJing weddings 😀 I took a lot of inspiration from this video and it made my ceremonies so much easier. 🎉. You’re basically Virtual DJ guru and I was wondering what controller you felt is the best for Virtual DJ?
@@MrK33bz always happy to help! 😊
Since virtual DJ is MIDI based, it works with any controller, so it really boils down to your brand and layout preferences.
I use Roland and Denon.
Great hair
Thanks. 😊
hello DJ Rachel i have a question for you i am a beginner and i would like to know how do i directly store the music into my ipad
4. Or use a streaming service like Tidal or beatsource Link.
does DJAY Pro I work with apple music? Also what camera do you use to record all of your videos? Thanky ou
@@DJRachelLynch you tock! Thank you so much for answering these questions! Youre the best!
Salute love your videos
Go Rachel.
What is clipped to your collar and how does it work?

What handheld wireless mic do you recommend?
Electro-Voice RE3
@@DJRachelLynch thank you :)
Hey Rachel where can I get those 3D printed shelves
Info is in video description and in the video. 🙂
debating on getting the 30m or the 50s what is the biggest venue have you done with the 30's
I would say most events would require at least the 50s. It’s not just about “room size” it also has to do with bodies and what the sound expectation is with the client. You’ll have more flexibility with the 50s. That’s my recommendation.
@@DJRachelLynch thank you
Would these thump enough for house parties (pair) ? I hear complaints of not enough bass.
It depends on your CLIENT’S EXPECTATIONS (think student prom vs corporate picnic; do they want or need to to be crushed by sound?)
It depends on INDOOR/OUTDOOR considerations (sound moves differently with and without walls).
It depends on your knowledge of PROPER GAIN STRUCTURE and knowledge of BUILT IN FEATURES of your speakers.
It depends on what your speakers are realistically DESIGNED FOR/CAPABLE OF.
Maybe some other things I’m forgetting too.
Point is…
Always do a site walkthrough.
Always understand what is being asked of you.
Always know the performance limits of your gear.
They rock events for me weekend after weekend. Zero complaints. 🙂 I’d recommend the 50s for larger parties.
@@DJRachelLynch I only DJ for family, but thank you so much for the detailed response, Rachel.
Nice vid👍🏾
Love it, going to get me a pair of the 50's and 30s
Where do you connect your microphone in this setup? directly in the EV?
