    Can you do a video on how to scratch on controllers that don't have rotating platters? Like the DDJ 400.

    • @bigdaz7272
      @bigdaz7272 2 года назад +3

      Its exactly the same process as with moving platters, seriously, i learned on the same controller :)
      Though as you get a little better having a digital marker on the platters like with CDJs, DDJ1000/SRT ect helps.
      As is you want to zoom the waveform in a couple of clicks so you can better see where the playhead is on the waveform and focus on that instead of your controller so you can get the timing down without looking at your Hands while your scratching.

    When you was counting, how did you know to switch to counting 16th notes? I find myself always counting quarter and 8th notes.
    Actually let me rephrase it, if you find a new song that you want to practice mixing, how do you know which note to start counting with? Meaning 1 and 2 and or 1 e and uh.

    • @DJLiftOFF
      @DJLiftOFF  2 года назад +2

      So essentially, I’ll always start with 8th notes! Sixteenth notes are too in depth to start off with and quarter notes may be too simple.
      For this particular video, even though not shown, I counted everything starting with 8th notes and realized it didn’t start on an 8th note. From there, I went to 16th notes!

      @@DJLiftOFF great breakdown ,as usual. Was just wondering do you consistently count or does it just come natural at this point? Im fully aware of the values of beats , bars and phrases, but once Im mixing a set it goes out the window after 20minutes. trying to reprogram my brain

      @@donsmooth514 🙏🏾 appreciate you. At some point, it definitely becomes natural. I’ve also been playing piano since I was 9 years old and went to college for partly music production/theory so it’s hard to say when everything became natural for me because it always kind of has been.
      But, I would definitely assume that after a lot of repetitions, the time it takes to understand when to start a scratch pattern will lessen, and knowing where the one is just by listening to an acapella will become much easier

      I need to make a video or community post about it lol, but it’s my DJ company. Stands for James and Phil, a friend of mine that I’m in business with.
