This is a tour that we are so excited to share with you all! Rasa and I had a fantastic time filming this episode as we were lucky enough to get to stay in this amazing home for a few days and really enjoy the space. I'm such a fan of natural building and this place really takes straw construction to the next level. Enjoy the tour! With Love, Bryce & Rasa
This home stands alone, there is nothing like it. I've never seen straw contoured like that, but the results are so unique. Thank you for sharing it with us ❤️ It is both whimsical & practical.
@@tyc1Z.Z1 I agree. There's always a compromise between form and function, which I think he acknowledges when talking about the moat and stone pathway.
This is one of the most beautiful houses I’ve ever seen. Every detail is so thoughtful. I feel at peace just looking at it. I’d love to build one of my own some day ☺️
Me, too...especially surrounded with the actually small amount of water...that makes a HUGE SPLASH 😁 outside, as well as inside! I LOVE the whole water aspect! The building material is just awesome...who knew? I don't have an artistic bone in my body, but I think I could have fun with that! Especially the little things, like door handles! What fun! I think I'd incorporate alot more rock in there, IF it was mine, but how simple & gorgeous...& I don't EVER use that word...gorgeous! 😁
Here in England we have lots of beautiful thatched cottages and some walls (made of straw) and they have lasted hundreds of years, but I've never seen a modern one, what a cool build!

Extending the envelope using the Corolite canopy as a "weather shield" is a great way of keeping those outside spaces usable in as many weather conditions as possible. It's a neat trick to make the living area so much bigger than the hollowed-out giant pebble! The boundary materials, using the patina on steel, ties the building further into its location. Oh my, this is amazing. For someone who has always loved the idea of living in a cave, this build was breath-takingly enjoyable. Also I was happy to see the home in winter since we cope with snowy weather for a good part of the year here in Canada, and so many tiny homes seem more dependent on warmer climates and not appropriate for us. Are there places in Canada that would allow dome homes? I wish I could live in an insulated Monolithic Dome (US company) or the small DIY ones made of earthbags filled with soil. Earthen homes insulate well.
@@wownewstome6123 Oh heavens, I don't know. Like many places in the world, we have zoning restrictions that are only being changed as people realize the need for diverse housing solutions. So intriguing! Love the "moat" and the reflection of light onto the ceiling (my favorite part). Heavy rain an issue?? The bathroom and bedroom are so cozy, almost sexy. Thanks for sharing another unique, artistic tiny home.
I've been watching this channel for a few years now. I've some interesting and creative tiny homes. But, this one.......This one is my favorite. When they started on the outside, I was like "Oh. A small, yet cozy home." Once you go inside, however, it doesn't look like it should. It's spacious, non constricting, and beyond cozy. I know that the dollar is more in New Zealand, but still. Under 200k? That place looks like twice that amount. Never thought I would ever say this, but I'm in love with that house.
The house is amazing and beautiful. I wish he had answered directly about the cost. The figures he provided were 5000 hours of work, ~90k for the site and site prep and 120k for materials, but he didn't address the cost of labor. That's usually very broadly the same as materials as I understand it so figure another 120k for 330k total. Or figure 30/hr (using Scott Brown carpentry's labor cost estimates from one of his episodes) and you've got 150k for labor and you have 360k total. But if you're a craftsperson who can weld and plaster this might be more affordable.
This home is so so unique. Its like living in a museum. A piece of art everywhere and there is so much to look at. A lot of thought was put in all the natural materials that was use to create a cozy and peaceful atmosphere. Its like a piece of paradise there. I loved it.

@@yokikokudou What is the problem? I am not sure this house is unmovable. I do not think it was discussed. You have the right to dislike architects and designers. I can understand your point if they create expensive places which are not livable. This is however not the case as this house looks really pleasant. I was upset by the possum fur sofa. I checked: possums are a big problem and culling them is necessary. I hope they are also eaten, but if their fur and flesh are being used, at least they are part of the cycle of life and do not die in vain.
This just reminded me so much of an earthship, only using hay bales instead of tires. Earthships are fully off grid so a bit different but I absolutely adore the size and location of this home. They thought through each element beautifully and it would be a real treat to stay in and just escape the city life especially if popping in for a weekend. My partner and I had the honour of staying in one of the famous earthships in New Mexico last year, and my gosh, the feeling waking up on a cold february morning, seeing plants surrounding you, having a cup of coffee by the pond with fish and a turtle. Nothing compares. If anyone has a chance to stay here (since it sounds like its a rental) or in an earthship take it! You won't regret it.

His children must really care about him, helping him in this love project, but I see a bit difficult in winter having family meals, they would have to bring for the occasion a table and chairs, or it doesn’t seem to have space for sleep overs either. That’s how father designed it, and his children backed him up wonderfully. It seems a great family.
This is just stunning. It goes to show that with a bit of imagination this tiny home movement can create tiny paradises for people at a fraction of the cost. Thanks for sharing Bryce
Well, tiny houses are here to stay..and grow wings. Truly awesome.. it's mind blowing how creative this is to the smallest detail. An incredible find and really inspiring! 💕
I have had the privilege of staying in Pumice (it's on Air BnB) and its the first time I have been in a space that provides an experience almost as amazing as its alpine environment. Previously guests had to discover how things worked through exploring, and many items have a dual function that really take you by surprise, in a delightful way. It's also a sensual experience. You get up in the morning and stand on lovely soft rugs, then walk on the hard timber floor to the heated stones of the bathroom. The reflected light displays from the pond on the ceiling - just gorgeous.
He really thinks out of the box. Even his answer to how long it took to build this house? was 5,000 hours. His creativity and execution is at a totally different level than what we are used to hear, see or perceive. Kudos to him. This house is differently unique and beautiful. I am blown away by the use of textures, materials, and elements/dynamics combination. Thank you for sharing you all. 🙏
The exterior reminds me of an oyster shell..and then there's the pearl inside. Beautiful interior with gorgeous natural finishes..the water reflections, the stunning use of driftwood. Personally loved the "possum" couch..so luxurious and the richness of the colour..(no different to leather imo). This home is like being wrapped in a warm hug. Simply amazing.
Amazing. The whole house and the covering has a wonderful organic look and feel. This home is, by far, the most unique one shown. It has both a feminine and a masculine feel.
As is said in the southern States... dayum! Spectacular! I am tempted to rethink something like this over a thow What an inspirational video, Bryce! You and your bride have yet again struck gold
Congrats ! I started right before Covid when the recession hit.I held those stocks and made a killing. I bought dividend stocks and made a lot during Covid.
I’m convinced that the big investors and analysts are trying to scare us to keep us poor and ignorant to the market…because its steady doing good after all the jobless and market crash talks
Most unusual indeed. 🙂 A very artistic space, would absolutely love to stay here but I’d find it difficult as a full time home. I Adored the outside the most.
Literally I’ve watched channels which featured multimillion homes and penthouses which don’t hold a candle to what this beautiful home represents I would love live or even vacation in a home like this!!
Stunning. I have always wanted to do a straw build on a trailer, its so exciting to know its possible!! I'm curious, did they say why they chose to build on a trailer? The build seems so site specific so I was wondering if they wanted the flexibility to move it or if it was for permitting reason or something?
I'm guessing it can't be moved. It's 18 feet wide, plus the plaster would likely crack. If forced to move during the rainy season, water entering the straw would lead to mold and thereby health issues.
Evan is a brilliant poet of earth, wood, stone, straw, metal and all the elements of nature. He also destroyed my childhood favourite story of 'the three little pigs' . A fable crumbled !
What is the shade (roof) over the house and patio built of? How is it made secure so that winds don’t make it airborne? Love the koi pond and steppingstones into the home! The living room is large, but cozy. Interesting that he disguised the tv as a headboard. What a view! Thanks for taking us on this tour.
There is a lot went into this house compared to any other tiny house. Building it is one thing, but making it functional is what matters and that is what makes it much special.
Bryce and Rasa, This is a beautiful work and very inspiring. Have been watching your wrk for several years and you are always inspiring. I am pretty surprised you didn't discuss the roof over the whole project as I was very keen to hear about it as I plan my own home here in the SW US. would you know of where I can further research that? Cheers and thank you for all that hard work!
Really amazing. Well done! A RUclips cycling couple Syd and Macky have some videos about the timber frame and straw-built house his siblings built on their parents' property in New Mexico, USA. It's a little larger than a true tiny house, but it's still pretty small.

What an eloquent and creative builder. Great juxtaposition of pumice being abrasive but the home feeling so warm and cosy.
Beautiful / fantastic.
Ceiling fan is sweet wicked
I have had the privilege of staying in Pumice (it's on Air BnB) and its the first time I have been in a space that provides an experience almost as amazing as its alpine environment. Previously guests had to discover how things worked through exploring, and many items have a dual function that really take you by surprise, in a delightful way. It's also a sensual experience. You get up in the morning and stand on lovely soft rugs, then walk on the hard timber floor to the heated stones of the bathroom. The reflected light displays from the pond on the ceiling - just gorgeous.
As a non-native english speaker I sometimes struggle to understand him, he speaks fast 😅
But I could understand the majority, the home is amazing!
I speak only English, but am hearing impaired. He does speak fast and I had to back up a time or two.
Odd that it looks so natural but possums used for upholstery. They are smart, harmless, and very like house pets such as catscand dogs
Suburb, finest example of art, love, creativity and passion for sustainable home design.
As is said in the southern States... dayum!
Spectacular! I am tempted to rethink something like this over a thow
What an inspirational video, Bryce! You and your bride have yet again struck gold
What a unique wonder- filled home. Thank you Bryce for showing us !!!
Your video have helped me reach over $200,000 in stocks by age 24! Thanks. Keep the videos coming
@@alessandroandrea4732 thanks
@Rose When I was 20 but you need a finance pro to be successful.
@Rose here⬇️⬇️
Woah omg the front is so cool and the inside is amazing its so beautiful
Most unusual indeed. 🙂 A very artistic space, would absolutely love to stay here but I’d find it difficult as a full time home. I Adored the outside the most.
Aesthetic appeal is high . But livability is not
Literally I’ve watched channels which featured multimillion homes and penthouses which don’t hold a candle to what this beautiful home represents I would love live or even vacation in a home like this!!
I LOVE this! It is so different, & beautiful. Reminds me a little of the Hobbit houses. 🥰
Living in ART with beautiful memories. It’s Dan emotional experience
Stunning. I have always wanted to do a straw build on a trailer, its so exciting to know its possible!! I'm curious, did they say why they chose to build on a trailer? The build seems so site specific so I was wondering if they wanted the flexibility to move it or if it was for permitting reason or something?

I was wondering the same thing.
Fur is a no go
Wow, I've NEVER seen anything like that home before. Stunning!!!
I'm hoping this will eventually be on Air B&B cause I'd love to get out of Auckland and spend a weekend away at pumice. Absolutely beautiful 😍
It is on Air B&B!
Love your videos keep up the great work 👍🏽
This is jaw dropping beautiiful. Art and craftmanship combined. Together with the landscape, it must be an endless delight to live in.
Really amazing. Well done!
A RUclips cycling couple Syd and Macky have some videos about the timber frame and straw-built house his siblings built on their parents' property in New Mexico, USA. It's a little larger than a true tiny house, but it's still pretty small.
Amazing what a mind can conceive.. Thanks for your untiring work in showing us places where we can’t even imagine we will ever be🥰
