    Lorelie love the video! I do have a question, how much buttercream do you make in general for the decorating and covering of the cake? You always make everything look so easy, thank you for these great videos and inspiration.

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you Beth . For the larger cake I made two batches of IMBC buttercream. I had some leftover colored buttercream from that cake. I then made one more batch for the smaller cake to work with. I probably have a half a batch left over. I love having extra around. I don't enjoy running out in the middle of a project. So I keep it in containers in the fridge for future projects. Freezing it if necessary. becasue the smaller cake was mostly ganached I used about a half a batch. The link to that recipe is at the end of the video and in the description box Beth. Thanks for commenting and asking a great question.

    That's really pretty, but wouldn't a basketweave tip be better than the round tip for the basket effect?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Suzanne, I don't like the flat basket weave. However I do use a star to create the typical basket effect. This particular basket is more of a Nantucket style. If you look at baskets there are a huge variety of weaves and materials that they are made of. Great question.

    Great video thank you.. Just wanted to.ask if im makeing a tiered cake could i use strawberry and cream inside if so do you have the recipe please thank you so.much

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  5 лет назад +1

      Yes I have done whipped cream and Strawberries inside of a two tiered cake. It's simply heavy cream whipped with powdered sugar. so . You will need to pipe a dam of buttercream around the layers to contain the soft whipped cream and Strawberries. You can go to my website to see the two whipped cream recipes. www.wedding-cakes-for-you.com/whipped-cream-icing.html Sliced Strawberries would be added to the filling. Or you can do a pastry cream with folded in whipped cream. That recipe is here on this channel studio.ruclips.net/user/video8htKc4HqP8c/edit. Just be aware that a soft filling needs special attention. Dowel your cakes to support them etc.

      @@cakescupcakes6703 The cream filling will be fine if you do it a day ahead and fill the cakes. I use real heavy cream from the supermarket. I have not used the Bakels before.

    I know this video is a year old, but was wondering what colors you use for your leaves. I never like the color I get with leaf green.

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Laura, I sometimes use a combo of pre-mixed Wilton Moss Green, a little leaf and a little juniper and a drop of black. Sometimes....Moss green with 2 violet and 3 lemon yellow. Avocado green is nice too. 4 lemon yellow, 1 leaf green and a touch of black. I rarely use the leaf green on its own anymore.

      @@CakesWithLorelie I also mix different shades of green, as well as yellow and/or brown to get the desired shade, and I also add black if I want the shade darker. Beautiful cake, what kind of cake pan did you use and size

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  7 лет назад

      Thanks Irma, I cut the cake from a large round to create the shape. You could use a loaf pan and then add the rounded top to it. But it depends on what size you want to make it. If you use a large round, you can then slice the cake to create one long piece and use the two rounded side pieces to create the rounded top. You will have to trim it to fit. Hope that makes sense.
