That made me sub to Japananlysis. Also what an insane story from start to finish. The fact that it goes full circle with the scammer being scammed herself, although in a legal manner is truly the cherry on top. Unfortunately, that probably means law enforcement will find it difficult to return the money to her victims.
Man this is the most Japan nightlife-y story I've ever heard, that whole scene is just submerged beneath an ocean of loneliness and sadness. Living in Tokyo I've seen lots of stuff like this, go to Kabukichou before first train and you'll see so many people who just seem miserable. The entire host night work industry is all just lonely depressed people with no proper social support exploiting each other, like so many of the hosts and hostesses spend all their paychecks at each others' establishments and on dealers and the dealers blow all their money on hostesses and hookers and clubs. The entire thing is like an ouroboros of people trading their money around because most like normie Japanese people wouldn't really get involved with any of that stuff or ever set foot in those places so it's mostly people who are already fucked up or outcast who get wrapped up in it. I'm not at all surprised to learn Mai was also lonely and miserable and being exploited, girls in that subculture who act and dress like that are generally seen as not mentally well, they call them "landmine girls" or "menhera" (literally mentally ill). The guy she was paying was probably dropping stacks at a hostess club too.
In short, all of them are losers exploiting each other to feel validated. Why is Japan's urban socialscape so fucked up? Is it the post-WW2 capitalism screwing people's professional options? (as in, you either work for an exploitative corpo or you're homeless) I ask because beyond this scamming simpy stuff, there's hikkikomori, there's the birthrate plummeting, the xenophobia regarding gaijin, the exploitation by the corporations, the gruelling working hours and workload, the destructive alcoholism, strict and rigid educational system.
Reminds me a bit about the documentary about the most popular host at a club in Oska. They interview some of the girls that spend a lot of money on him and it turns out they were hostesses.
14:09 This could be a fair trade, if not for the intentional deceit. If she sold herself as a stand-in girlfriend for lonely men, who will text you throughout the day and say nice things to you for a fee, that would be completely fine. The issue isn't that she's collecting money for fake relationship services--the issue is that she's manipulating people, intentionally and with meticulous planning, to make you see her as a close friend who is in imminent danger, and to make you think that only your money can help.
The host clubs we see at the end of the video are a great example of the fair version! Unfortunately, you probably don't make ¥200,000,000 in 2.5 years working at a host club, which is why the scammers exist.
Her “tactic” is pretty baseline tbh. There are so many people of all genders who can just trigger someone’s protective instincts by cozying up to people.
I really appreciate that you got permission to react and left the self promotion in the video. It shows that it just takes a little extra work to react in a way that works well for you and the source channel. Nice work
I believe there are already ai girlfriends you can buy, and it eventually had tiers you could select with the highest having your ai girlfriend say sexual things to you. I believe there was a article recently where when the buyer tried breaking up with it the ai would get abusive to you.
Dang, a lonely girl scamming lonely guys so they can afford a host. Kinda really messed up. Also I can’t believe she wanted to do the interview and how she had the reaction “ehhhh” when the RUclipsr told her she was committing a crime.
So she essentially did SFW OnlyFans but entirely illegally and lost it all. She could have just did OnlyFans. Also all that work could've just gone into cultivating a real relationship where she herself wasn't lonely. Narcissistic people are actually insane.
I hope everyone understands that the scamming part comes from the lying she was doing to those men. It would be fine if she was upfront and offered to text them for money, but lying about needing money is what turned it into a scam. Her spending money at a host club is not her getting scammed (unless they WERE lying to her about needing money to pay rent)
Man trying to justify this or call it a "fair trade" by any means is like a drug dealer trying to form connections and praying on recovering addicts. The dealer gets money and the addicts get what they crave and a good source for it, fair right?
Shes basically describing the job of people on onlyfans, exploiting lonely men through the illusion of an online monetary relationship via chatting with the top subscribers. Except she doesn’t have to degrade herself by posting pictures with little to no clothing
yeah, it's definitely not a japan-only whacky thing. Well, maybe the reason that bitch came up with all of that is kinda japan-only, over here in the west it's only boring shit like rent being sky high or wanting to own a house.
except that ppl on OF are honest abt what theyre doing. u pay a fee, u get a service. this girl is explicitly targeting ppl who arent looking for this kinda thing and lying to them for money
OF is entirely transactional and most guys and girls on there are very upfront about that. This girl's scam relies on explicitly making it seem like there is no transaction happening at all. Pretending to be interpersonally connected to people for a long period of time in order to take money from them without them realizing why you're doing it is so much more degrading than dispassionately showing your butthole for 15 bucks.
I mean they still do lie, just not in the same way or level. The girl in the video is more of a “damsel in distress” situation where someone you care about is in trouble, whilst OF girls are more of a “carrot on a stick” situation where the person thinks they're close to forming or already have some sort of relationship just at the cost of some money.
I'm 8 minutes in and I'm still trying to figure out the difference between what she does and what twitch streamers do to lonely children with their mom's credit card?
I'm curious, what streamers are you watching? Every streamer I watch makes it extremely clear they're not our friends. They're not speaking to me in DMs. They're not asking me how my day is in private. They're not talking to me 1 on 1 and telling me secrets about themselves - real or not.
That made me sub to Japananlysis. Also what an insane story from start to finish. The fact that it goes full circle with the scammer being scammed herself, although in a legal manner is truly the cherry on top. They might be able to get some money out of that host and his manager. They did arrest them both for knowing the money was dirty.
step1: scam men to get money
step2: get scammed by men, lose money
repeat.
The cow BACK AT IT AGAIN. Classic glizz

The interviewer was so brave with those direct and almost uncomfortable questions, wow
This story can't be real. She did to others what the host club was doing to her.
It's actually crazy. She was both scamming lonely idiots and a lonely idiot getting scammed.
@@UlfMTGThen yoy find out the hosts in the club are getting scammed by more people like her, and the vicious cycle continues.
It's a scammer-ception.

I mean not really. She was scammer. While those host clubs are just absurd money sink business.
ITS A PYRAMID SCHEME

Well Atrioc did that. The channel blatantly reuploding his content that we are watching rn did not
Good vid lil bud
Host club scamming her, then she started scamming others. 😅🙃
Financial security NAH I need that scammer security
