Listen to the song The Letter by Wayne Newton which has lyrics from a letter Elvis wrote In his hotel room and threw it in the trash and was found by the housekeeper late in Elvis's career and later bought by Wayne Newton at an auction.
A great tribute song. Cher did a version of this later. But this is the best version.
Big Elvis fan and I love the song, but the line that I find so emotional is when Muriel asks if he's a Christian and he says "M'am, I am tonight." It's a great piece of songwriting that cuts to the heart of music and what it means to those who do it.
