My boy Stig!! I saw this was out this morning and it took everything in me to wait until my 10 hour work day was over so I could relax on Friday night and watch it!! Always worth the wait!! Time for another STIG SHIIIIFT!!!! WOOOHOOOOO
I can count on one hand how many times I've been on a plane. Your videos provide great information and I know now that there are people like you Stig doing that work and keeping everyone safe in the air. Thank you for the work and videos ✈️😎🇨🇦🇺🇲🙏
Thank you as always for being here James, and thank you for always sharing your kind words and thoughts. I appreciate you sir.
It is always great to hear your enthusiasm, fills us up with energy. Thank you Stig :)
Thank you so much, I appreciate your kind words
Again, thank you for taking us along on the flight! And this was not dull or boring! And yeah, that Leap 1A is not only a marvel of engineering, but it could just as easily be modern art.
Poetry in motion 👌
Hi Stig 😄the old car you found is the LOTUS 18 CHAMPIONSHIP 14 JIM CLARK GRAND PRIX PORTUGAL 1960. A real légend or... a replica !
Absolutely amazing, thank you so much for that information
Thanks Stig, love your show, lots of other Aussies i know enjoy, thanks again
Much appreciated Paul. Cheers to all my Aussie friends out there
193 is a testament to engineering. Wow!
It absolutely is.
The "guns" remind me of when I was young and my dad would leave me in his truck and leave it running and say "stay put and do not touch anything," and then I'd move the gear stick and listen to the music of the gears grinding🤣😅
Always a great adventure. Thursdays are the best days.
Wonderful video, as always, Stig! Really enjoyed story time about Airbus 193 and all the details about her rebuild. Every time a 777 pushes back, I look for Juan Brown. 😂 And what a closing shot of the 777 taking off! Had to watch it more than once.
In response to your thank yours.... thank YOU for bringing us along, teaching us, for your beautiful and inspiring words and personality. Every week I'm left with a smile on my face - so grateful we can all share in our love for these magnificent machines!
I have yet to see Mr. Juan Brown, I’m sure our paths will cross one of these days. And thank you so much for being here and watching.
Backkk again lovely. Stigggg. The. Night is complete is
Cheers 🤙
Oh hell yes, good morning Stig! I've got my coffee. Let's go.
Time for fun 🤙
Fluffy seats hehe. The parts lookup process, is very much the same for auto and small engine mechanics. Those super tugs are cool Stig, they love to hug the tires hehe. I love party lights and the smooth music. The plane refurbishment must have cost a fortune, I thank you for getting cool shots of the interior with seats removed, much more space now lol. I'm not even an airplane mechanic, and that CFM-Leap 1 engine melts my heart too. I just want to caress the curvature of the blades. That was cool seeing new tires ready in that yellow rig! Thank you for another lovely video, love you Stig!
Thank you so much for always being here and for the kind words. I appreciate you.
Waking up to these videos is just✨ GOLD✨
Thank you for being here
Stig; you hit those guns all you want - I never tire of it. As always, your content was excellent and entertaining. Be safe out there. See you in the next office
Currently 4am here in Ireland, been waiting patiently for this video since I finished work at at 12, looking forward to good watch as usual stig
Hope you enjoy!
7:25 that is beautiful! Boarding music is relaxing…so is your background music. Enjoyed another Stig shift #41. Until next time and we are looking forward to it. Your choice of words are on point! As I wrote this you were talking to the engine CFM leap one A lol. My heart melts on all your videos talking plane tech!!
Thank you so much Charles.
Long story short: Großartig! Vielen Dank, Stig!!!
Danka shun my friend.
Air Canada ame here, I watch your video when I go sleep after long night shift, thank you for making such videos!
@@chjy0729 it’s my pleasure. Thank you for all your hard work. Hope you got some good rest
Stig, keepin souls safe... 🎵r0ckoN 🎵
Absolutely 🤙
Learned so much in this shift! From not overfilling hydraulic system yellow if the cargo doors are open, to the "white fidget wheel" on the captain's seat! Also really enjoyed the story of 193. Excellent shift Stig 😎🤙!!
My pleasure. Thank you for being here and enjoying it all
@@StigAviation oh no I made a typo that 2nd last word was not what I wanted to type my apologies! Will edit it.
Man, the vapor coming off the wings and the swirl of the clouds caused by the departing 777 at the end was a work of art. Aviation is so awesome.
I always love seeing the wind tip vortices
We enjoy your Stig shifts, long or short, keep up the good work that you do.
Thank you sir
Thanks for your great videos, Stig! @43:44 Stig is in a wild west old fashion duel with his iPad and the infamous Beacon Light!🚨
Modern day cowboy 🤠 🤙
We missed seeing you at Cranky Dorkfest! Looks like you were hard at work. Great shots of Flagship Valor. We got to fly on that one once MCO to DFW.
I do apologize for not being able to make it out to the festival, but I was very busy that day and could not find time to come out and see everybody. Hopefully next year.
Stig shift... bringing me out of my depression.
I will not all you to be depressed. Smile. You woke up today. You are alive. Every day is a chance To make a difference.
That's why I watch, you always bring a smile with your positive attitude. Look forward every week.
@@dean9498 take care my friend! And you’re super ! never ever let anyone tell you otherwise. And keep your head held high since all the planes are going from there 😅🙈
AMT student here.
I am glad to hear that IPC's are digital and tail number searchable. I was ordering new parts for a Piper Cherokee for practice. After ordering some new hoses for the induction system, I realized that I was ordering from the wrong table for that serial number of Piper. So I found the correct table for my exact serial number... And the hose was the exact same part number that I had just erased. 🤦🤬
Digital age is a godsend for us. Makes our lives so much easier.
The AMM and the IPC are organized by ATA code where I work.
Man thank you so much for showing us this beauties.
My pleasure!
Stig time!!! Also thank you for answering someone my homework regarding parts (not seats but still worked)
I am glad it helped Nick
Good evening Stig! Another great week 🥰
No no no... It's GOOOOOOOOD Mornin' Everyone 😂
Thank you so much Nathan
Interesting as always, don't ever stop sharing this amazing side of aviation Stig!
It never ceases to amaze me how damaged planes can get and still return to service!
It’s amazing what people can do when they put their mind to it
Some say he spikes his coffee with hydraulic fluid and that his favorite princess is plastic…all we know is, he’s called the Stig!
This is the winning comment 🏆 I absolutely love this 🤙
(44:14) Love the condensate boiling off the wings' LP side when planes take off. Pressure's really reduced.
Hooboy ! Stig's bacc with his explosive energy! Only difference is that I am having lunch and not watching it after ungodly hours Hehe !
Thank you for sharing such preem videos Stig !!
It’s my pleasure, enjoy when you can. Thank you for watching.
@@StigAviation much love to you ! Eagerly awaiting the next update from youu ! 🛫
Goood Morning my virtual friend Stig!! Come on .. Let's go .. wakeup our airplanes ...there comes my next office ... The Legend himself ... Stig!! I wonder if the bus company insurance paid for the repairs of 193 ... it must have "cost an arm and a leg!" Thanks for the information and weekly entertainment! American Airlines can copy Air Canada's Employee Recognition display ... I'll definitely nominate you Stig!!
I’m not sure how or who paid for it , but I’m sure insurance was involved. And thank you for that kind words
Was the guy in the Bus stoned and doing a Drag race?! That is major damage!
Just in case the question has not been asked yet, the red/pink color valves/pumps etc signals it belongs to the hydraulic system(s). The color is the same as the skydrol (hydraulic fluid. don't touch it with your bare hands) color.
The colors will usually match the color of the fluid, and the case of hydraulic fluid, most fittings are purple
When I worked @Ford/Mazda sometimes the power window switches would become intermittent. Instead of replacing I used to open the switch & clean the contacts. Only took 10 minutes & he saved the cost & time on returning.
Typically parts were determined by car serial number or on the component itself. Sometimes production date was necessary.
Thank you Stig for sharing your life with us. Today I had fun flying in a 737-8 and an A319 and let me say because of following and watching the videos allowed me to have a deeper appreciation for the beauties. It was awesome to see and be more aware of everything. So again Thank you for Stig for these awesome videos!! 😊
I am so happy you had a beautiful flight, and I’m glad you got to experience a Airbus and a Boeing. Thank you so much for watching.
@@StigAviation my pleasure! It was pretty fun being on the two different planes.
I like the Air Canada employee thank you.

Thanks Stig-Great way to wrap up my week. Your parting video of the 777 take off was awesome.
Thank you so much, I’m happy you enjoyed it
You can’t stop “switching to guns”!! 😂 every time I walk onto a 737, I really want to ask the pilots to do that, but I’m not sure they would like that. 😂
Stig… what are the brochures behind the right seat of the first plane @1:45. Also do the super tug drivers work for the airline or airport. I want to be a super tug driver.. have a great week. When you coming to Seattle. Also Boeing is on strike so no new jets until it’s over.
Those are safety cards, it’s the same safety cards you will find in your seat back pocket. The tug drivers are employees of the airline. That’s part of fleet service, or ramp agent.
Yesssss he’s back. Goooood morning beautiful 🤙
Let’s Go 🤙🤙🤙
The highlight of my week!
Cheers 🤙
Love your videos! Keep em coming! I might not understand all of it, but enjoy it. Love flying.

1.Hydraulic System Indications:
- The display shows a portion of the hydraulic system of the aircraft, with three main color-coded hydraulic systems in Airbus planes:
- Blue (on the left)
- Yellow (on the right)
- Green (which is not visible here but is usually part of the Airbus hydraulic systems).
The numbers and symbols on this display likely indicate the status of these systems.
2.PSI (Pressure Indicators):
- The term PSI stands for pounds per square inch, which is the unit for pressure.
- Both the Blue and Yellow systems are showing a 0 PSI reading. This indicates that no hydraulic pressure is currently available in these systems, which could be due to system shutdown or an issue that requires attention.
3.RAT (Ram Air Turbine):
- The term RAT refers to the **Ram Air Turbine , a small turbine that deploys in case of a total loss of power or hydraulic pressure and can supply emergency power and hydraulic pressure.
- The green arrow indicates that the RAT may be an available backup for the Blue system in this case, but it is not currently deployed.
4. PTU (Power Transfer Unit):
-PTU is the Power Transfer Unit , which allows hydraulic pressure to transfer between systems (usually the Green and Yellow systems).
- The arrow pointing towards the PTU suggests a connection or the availability of a potential transfer from one hydraulic system to another if needed.
5. ELEC and Symbols:
- The "ELEC"(electrical) indicators next to both the Blue and Yellow systems suggest the system could be switched to operate using electrical power. In this case, the system could have an electrical component to run the pumps for the hydraulic fluid.
LO on the Yellow system: This likely stands for Low Pressure in the Yellow system, which needs to be addressed.
### 6. **Colors:**
- **Red** for the words "Blue" and "Yellow" indicates a **warning or failure** condition. Normally, the system would show green if functioning properly.
- **Green symbols and arrows** generally represent **operational or active components**, which indicates potential actions or directions for power transfer or backup options.
### 7. **Bars (Pressure Lines):**
- The vertical bars (with equal signs) indicate that the hydraulic fluid is not currently flowing or available.
- The green portions below represent the usual levels or conditions when the system is operational.
### 8. **Bottom of Display:**
- **19 H 22** likely indicates the **current time** in hours and minutes.
- **GW** stands for **Gross Weight**, though it seems no specific weight value is being displayed here (indicated by "--").
### Summary:
This display is showing that both the **Blue and Yellow hydraulic systems** have **0 PSI pressure**, which means they're not providing hydraulic power at the moment. There may be a **low-pressure warning** on the Yellow system (indicated by "LO"). The **RAT** is available as a potential backup for the Blue system, and the **PTU** could be used to transfer power between the systems. This display likely requires immediate action to restore normal hydraulic pressure or switch to a backup mode for continued safe operation of the aircraft.
Well done on your research 👍

@@StigAviation Dear Stig i am actually from India. By qualification I am a Diploma Engineer in Automobile Engineering from a State technical board of India. Furthermore I have experience related to the Automobile Industry in India. But, I want to transition to the aviation industry as a Aircraft mechanic or Aircraft technician. I am really crazy about working for the United States aircraft MRO industry. But the biggest problem is I don't know where to start & how to do it. I am huge fan of your channel & I get a lot of things to learn from all your video. You being a highly experienced & appreciated A & P Licensed Aircraft Mechanic can you please help me & guide. I also need to tell you that I belong from a very poor family baground hence I can never ever afford to attend a FAA certified A & P Mechanic School in the US. Further more I am aware of options like working under the direct supervision of a A&P Licensed Aircraft Mechanic as a Apprentice which can help me get actual hands on experience & then I can appear the FAA Oral & Practical Exams. I think this is the best option & the only option applicable to my circumstances due to terrible financial problems. But I ❤ Aircraft Maintenance like crazy & I am not a type of person who easily gives up. I am struggling hard to find ways to achieve my career goals especially when it's about working in the USA Aircraft MRO industry. Furthermore I don't even have any A & P Licence which adds for fuel to my problems. Hence I really request you to please 🙏 help me find a way to get a Apprentice Aircraft Mechanic job in US . Also please let me know if there is anyone from your friend circle & your colleagues whome you work with that can support me. I am talking especially about your MRO industry network. I would also like to bring it to your light that my Age is 44 Yrs. So is it too late for a transition from Automobile Industry to a Aircraft Maintenance Industry that too I am talking about working in the USA. I am just crazy about Boeing & Airbus Aircrafts with context to Aircraft Maintenance work. I am really struck & confused. Can you please help me to achievey career goals as you have a terrific work experience related to US Aircraft MRO industry. Can I send you my resume. For your convenience my email is

Stig,
If l remember You said you used to be an auto mechanic. Why'd you change Fields? I can take a guess. I think Car maintenance is so Mickey Mouse. Cars are beautiful, gorgeous machines, out of the factory. When, in just a few months they are Mickey Moused all to he__ because nobody will take the time & and expense to do the MRO properly. And it's understandable. It'd be very expensive
I have never heard boarding music. Only crying babies!! 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video. My daughter is doing her General this semester. I started watching your channel ever since she started her journey of wanting to get her A&P. Wanted to let you know you are encouraging the next generation with your videos. I'm excited for her. Every day, I ask her what she's learned at school, and hopefully, soon, she's blessed to realize her dream. Keep up the good work with your video content.
You are an incredible father for doing that. Always encourage her and always ask her questions. Make sure to keep her mind active and her spirit enthusiastic. My dad used to do the same thing when I was going to school. Every day when I get home, he would ask me son. Tell me what you learn today. I always thought he was just messing with me, but in reality that was his way of encouraging. It worked. If your daughter has any questions at all, tell her not to hesitate to ask, I’m always here to help and that also goes for you. If you have any questions at all, don’t ever hesitate to ask.
@@StigAviation thank you.. I will
Hey young man! 😊
At your service sir 🫡🛫
Thought of you last night at 11:55pm in Las Vegas after boarding AA to ORD, when suddeny we had to wait 90- minutes for mechanics to replace some part. Then I realized you was in LAX so no chance it was you who fixed our 737. 😅
I am glad the technicians were able to resolve the issue, apologies on the delay, but I’m glad you went out safe. I hope you had a good flight.

Stig we need to get you a shirt that says goodmorning everybody
I got some ideas for T-shirts. It’s still in the works.
The Stig, legends like your good self are the reason I only fly American. From down under, love your work my brother.
At my workplace, I now only say “good morning everybody “. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for these beautiful words. It means a lot to me Paul
Mahalo Stig! Can you talk about 'yokes' vs 'sidesticks' (pitch & roll controls)? Some of your aircraft have sidesticks & some traditional yokes, so it would be fantastic if you gave us an overview. Do left-handed pilots or copilots have issues with control when they fly in the right seat and thus have to use non-dominant hands? Thank you Again for all your great videos...
I actually have made a dedicated video discussing this, you might’ve missed it, check out the older videos, and I talk about it in detail
@@StigAviation My Bad! I will find it! Mahalos
Quite a big job with the Bus that got hit by a bus. Stig, do you think the Delta plane that had its tail sheared off by another Delta plane will ever leave the ground again?
Did you see the condor A321 that had a light fixture fall over the cockpit? They repaired that one also and the area they had to fix was massive, plus the wingtip cause that's what caused it in the first place. D-AIAF if you wanted to look it up.
I’ll definitely look that up, that’s very interesting
Stig…love the votex shots!
Glad you enjoyed it Cole
Great video as always, you are so enthusiastic about aircraft and very easy to understand your explanations, can a plane take off and land on just one engine.
The time has come to enjoy yet another Stigshift video
Cheers 🤙
Thanks for another great video Stig!
My pleasure!
Would be great to see a video about your work vehicle and also the other vehicles around the airport. Also would be cool to see in the hanger planes and what they are being serviced for. I know you are only there during the day but is there any planes in the hanger during the day? Great work and keep doing these videos even if you feel it is repetitive as youtube rewards consistency.
Hi, i always want to learn and you teach always something. New. I thought i saw the Green hydraulic system in '' LO'', after the filing of the yellow. It is the same case? (Passenger' 's doors open).
Anyway, encore une excellente vidéo Monsieur Stig!
Did AA the structural rework solely on their own account? If so, congrats for a great achievement! That is a ton load of workhours in there.
Cheers 🥂
The initial damage that was caused by the bus was done by airbus engineers, the replacement of the corrosion rivets was done in house by our technicians in Pittsburgh.
@@StigAviation so airbus sent their crash-crew then. Well it paid of big time💪🏼 at least AA can make money with the bird again ;-)
Top,.... !

Have a nice weekend Stig.
Thank you very much
Stig I have a question on that Airbus that went to Pittsburgh I thought American Airlines had a huge maintenance facility in Tulsa Oklahoma because many many years ago when I was working at McDonnell Douglas on the MD-80s I was offered a job there, but I decided to stay in California as sometimes I wonder if that was the right decision or not but I just remember they had a big facility in Tulsa Oklahoma
Your videos are awesome I feel like I have a mentor
I’m glad you’re enjoying it and I’m glad it’s helping, thank you for watching
"Uhhh hey boss I hit a plane"
"YOU DID WHAAAAAT"
😅
Anytime i fell in Love with the views.
One Question: How are Flightnumbers createt? Sometimes its AAL234... somoetimes AAL57AR or sort like this.
Cheers.
From what I remember reading, it’s all done by computer algorithms nowadays. But I do remember reading something about eastbound and northbound flights and how they number them same thing for westbound and southbound flights. Something about organizing them with odd numbers and even numbers.
10:09 Hey Stig does things ever get stuck between the trim wheels and the Center pedestal and did you ever have to open it up to fish it out?
Very rarely that happens. And yes I have done that.
Cargo never disappoints 😊
Never ever 🤙
lol I love the ipc.. Can’t wait till my I get my A&p soon
Trust me, you’re gonna be looking into the IPC a lot when you start working.
GOOOD MORNING!!! I love starting the video like that! Im not sure if you have shown this, but could you show what the storm switch does. Thank you!
I actually have shown this, matter fact, I showed it in the last episode and talked about it
@@StigAviation I have some catching up to do! Thank you Stig. 🤙🏼
Woohoo new video! Hello from GRU!
Hope you enjoy!
GOOD MORNING STIG TO YOU HAPPY FRIDAY 😂
Cheers 🤙
Hi Stig , ok the first that a do about the A319 is 11:29 , reboot all de aircraft and check again the message, so if the message continue in the aircraft I put the IGN on Start and normal engine start and later shut down the engine 😅😅😅
Well you’ll have to do more than just that. You’ll have to bite check the FADEC and EIU for previous faults.
@@StigAviation Tks! Sr
speaking of part numbers and effectively numbers, I had to change the seal on the Emergency door on a 727, it was not hard but I went to cross check the part number and effectively number and it did not match but that was the correct part, This was heavy maintenance check so I brought it up to higher up and I wanted to let the Rep know but it was brought up in their morning meetings, so what they did is that the IPC was not updated to that part number but they gave me an EO to sign it off by. This was on the 727 Fedex birds. so I did myself a big CYA. So in the future they signed it up according to that EO.
Nice short but compact concise video. Previous. I've seen them scrap aircraft for less.
It’s extremely important to get the correct documentation and check out the engineering orders when doing such work.
@@StigAviation That is what I did, and it was fix in a couple hours. It was not the wrong, but the IPC was not updated at that moment but I got the green light.
And the reduced load/idle 'efficiency' is much worse yet. Gas turbine part load efficiency is lousy, worst of alI engine cycles. 1st stage nozzle temp falIs way off. Best are Diesels. Your gasser car is a fuel hog also. Lousy efficiency. Pumping losses etc. Nothing to write home about.
The 2nd Thermodynamic Law is a real bit__! Cuts no one any slack. Entropy - you can't win. Either increases or remains the same (in rare, exceedingly specific circumstances).
Airbus hit by a bus... 😂😂😂😂😂 we love you Stig❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
“…hit by ANOTHER bus” is what made me laugh. 😂
You couldn’t make this up, the irony is overwhelming 🤣
Here's that weird Aussie bloke from Sydney with his own fleet of squawking cockatoo "aircraft"... lol. Ten minutes in, and a question on the seat replacement. If a seat is "downgraded" to an older model for the aircraft to fly, does it get "upgraded" again in future maintenance? Cheers
It doesn’t need to get upgraded, they will just wait until that seat is no longer functioning correctly then it would be replaced with whatever is available
I love that Comment, LETS GO WAKE EM UP, this makes my day, 😊😊
Glad you are enjoying it Brian
🤙❤
🤗
i hate sitting in a dirty plane that has never been cleaned with passengers off and on in s short time its disgusting
Like you could clean it in the short time they have. How about you walk then instead of crying about planes
Most short turn get cleaned and vacuumed as much as possible. The cleaning crew does the best they can to make sure it’s sanitary. Any cleaning that takes longer will delay your flight and now you’ll be saying why is my flight delayed. There is no winning in this scenario. Please be understanding that everyone is doing their best to get you out on time and safe.
@@StigAviation I know . I can't stand people that moan about something they couldn't even do themselves
Hey Stig, Not related to this video, but I have a question: If the no. 1 engine is on the left side (cockpit view) and the no. 2 engine is on the right, why do they always start the no. 2 engine first? Or switched the names? Love the videos. Very instructional and love your opinions.
@@gerrydavis892 usually for safety reasons and also depending on type of aircraft (Airbus), to engage certain hydraulic systems with the engine driven pumps first. But it reality it you can start either engine. Pilots will follow their SOP and QRH books and follow the carrier policies for this.
Request: I know you can’t record everything you do. How about piecing together pieces from multiple planes into one video to show, and describe, everything you do for an ETOPS flight?
I actually already have a video specifically for that. I explained thoroughly on what I do on those checks. Check it out when you have a chance.
