Absolutely amazing words for your mum. Well said. You only have 1 set of parents.
She is my protector and everlasting teacher in life.
Hi Stig, thanks for your kind words at the end of video. Learning so much from you, you open the knowledge gate of aviation for me with such a easy way, just watching your video's. Thanks again...
My pleasure! Thank you for being here.
You are absolutely correct with the Merc @ 25:48 being very rare. It's a 560 SEC AMG. Part of why it's so rare and unique is the interesting relationship between AMG and Mercedes at the time. Some of you may or may not recall, that AMG used to be a separate tuning company that overhauled already manufactured cars. You couldn't order an AMG SEC from a Mercedes dealer like you can now (Well, technically you can't order an SEC anymore, but you get the point). You had to order a regular SEC and then put up another order with AMG and deliver your car to them for an overhaul. The process involved multiple mechanical modifications to increase the power and improve the handling, but also hacking up the body to give it the flared fenders and sometimes even repainting the whole car while they were at it. The conversions were very well made, looking and working like that was the way the cars left the factory. When you were too rich for a regular SEC, this is what you got to impress your friends.
That’s absolutely phenomenal information, thank you so much for letting everybody know. That was awesome. 🤙
Oh I thought it was a Hammer. TY
Thanks for sharing! I pray the next generation will share Your enthusiasm.
Thank you for being here and watching. I wish the same for the next generation. I will do my best to pass the knowledge.
I just have to say Stig one of the things you do that we appreciate the most as viewers is the way you interact with us in the comments and showing us things we ask about during your videos. That makes a world of difference in setting you apart from every other creator on this platform who doesn’t do it. You are our biggest fan, but we are your biggest fans!
Thank you very much and it’s a pleasure to have you here and enjoy the adventures with me.
Beautiful shout out to your Mum! She really did an amazing job Stig!! Happy Mother’s Day to her. 🌹
Thank you so much ☺️
@@StigAviationyou are very welcome! ☺️
What a treat. We get the barking dog, and a bonus kitty cat. Cheers Stig!
Cheers. Thank you for watching
@@StigAviation Kitty cat called?
I’ll be 66 on May 25 th. You continue to teach this old dog new tricks! I ‘bout melted on the floor when I saw that awesome Maserati. What a gorgeous car. Thank you, be safe, take care.
Thank you so much for being here and I am happy that me and you both can learn new things. Wishing you a happy birthday. 🎁🎂🎊
@@StigAviation Thank you! I feel younger every year.
Omygosh!! Stig is on!! Let’s stay up and watch the video!!! Who needs sleep 😴!!!!
"Stig is on....Stig is o-on..."
Yeah it’s 10pm for me but I’m staying up to watch this!
True
AGREED
Oof. It’s 3 AM here. What’s another 58 minutes anyways. GOOOOD MORNING EVERYBODY
Wise words at the end for all the senior technicians and trainees. In my field(automotive) , I had some very poor teachers and a couple of very good ones.
You are in the very good class!
Excellent videos 🎉
Thank you so much, we got a pass down our knowledge.
What I always appreciate about airliner redundancies is that these aren't just duplicates or backups but webs of asymmetrically configured overlapping systems. It would take multiple of failures of different types in multiple places from multiple causes to get to a catastrophic situation. And also, rather than binary failures there are degrees of capability degradation. Many people smart people have thought about these things. I especially like the Airbus hydraulics design.
That’s exactly the way I see it as well. This is why I love airplanes, it’s pure engineering perfection.
You and your videos have become a bright part of my day. The devotion to your job and your honest descriptions of what you see and how you deal with very technical issues and so many details is amazing! Your videos are never TOO LONG or repetitive, please don't change your way of creating them. A little humor, makes you and the work more real. Thank you!!
👍
Thank you so much. I appreciate you and your time.
Thanks again Stig! I’ll never tire of learning about these beautiful machines. Lovely words for your Mother there. Family is important. Always remember where you came from. 🫡
Absolutely, I am incredibly thankful for my mother.
Stig is a great teacher.
Stig, I’m currently an apprentice getting my engineering license and your videos are massively helpful to develop my knowledge and aid my understanding on different systems and processes. Thank you for taking your time to make these videos, it’s highly appreciated 💪
I am wishing you the best success in your career as an engineer, and I’m very happy these videos are helping. Cheers 🤙
Unsure if you've already done something like this, but I (and surely many others) would be very interested to watch a video about your journey in becoming an aircraft mechanic for the airlines. Watching through your series of videos has honestly made me seriously consider line maintenance as a potential career, so any insight you can provide into the process would be truly invaluable. Not that you are obliged, though! Every episode of Stig Shift is enough of a blessing as is.
One of these days, I’m going to sit down and make a very long video and talk about the path I took, and where my career led me. I would need to gather my thoughts and hopefully jog my memory. It’s been 25 years since I started, I’ve done a lot. I’ve seen a lot. Putting that into a video is a bit difficult, but I will do it.
Hello Stig. I've been an aviation enthusiast for more than 20 years, and I've piloted two types of aircraft you are servicing. Even though I have been through FCOMs, FCTMs, and AMMs my whole career, I have learned more from your videos in a few months than I have from these books in 20 years. :D Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, and much like you. I am always a student of aviation. I’m always learning.
My goodness this was a good one Stig. Thank you for talking about the airbus Nose gear faults! My goodness how cool is that 777 built in test function? You would think the EICAS would be enough but that maintenance access computer is amazing!!! Wow!!!!
You know the 777 maintenance terminal runs on Windows XP, takes a long time to boot up into the OS. But once its running, its solid, provides all the information that a maintenance engineer needs, to fix a plane, or figure out whats wrong with it. I saw him do a more thorough video on that terminal from start to finish in an older video, thats how I know that. But the 787 Dreamliner plastic princess has the maintenance terminal all built into the main flight computer, so no need for a separate terminal.
I am very happy you enjoyed it, and to show you on the next one, the 787 has integrated it built in test functions into the EICAS 👍
Always love the airbus barking of the hydraulics beautiful and always great vid :)
Thank you very much Justin
Another awsome stream. Amazing how the flaps work, so many mechanisms in place that need to work together. My sincerest thank you for your educational shows
It’s my pleasure William. Glad you enjoyed it
Stig the man is back with another amazing upload, this guy never fails to impress us with his videos. Keep up the great work and can't wait for the next one.
Thank you so much Aiden
My only excuse to ever stay up late, glad to be early to this one! Great work stig!
Hope you enjoyed it, and thank you for being here
That was cool getting to see the working mechanisms that operate the flaps, bark for me dog, ruff ruff lol. I think its pretty cool how the flight computer shows the open and closed doors/hatches on the plane. And just when I wondered what that speaker looking thing was, you answered the question without me asking it, the ACT system for central tanks. I absolutely loved that sweet message that you gave to your mom, I 100% agree with everything you said, because even I know its true, as I also thank your mother for bringing you into this world, because you bring us such joy, she raised you right indeed.
Thank you so much for the kind words and as always, I appreciate you being here and watching.
One of the best videos and I'm watched nearly all of them after discovering your channel 2 weeks ago
Thank you so much. I’m very happy you enjoyed it
Hey Stig. Another brilliant, brilliant episode. Showing us and explaining the inner workings of the flaps in action was absolutely amazing and then the nose gear explanation with the diagrams was so cool, techno mumbo jumbo at it's fascinating finest and its this level of detail that makes your videos so great. Aircraft truly are the most incredible machines mankind has ever created. I just wanted to say that it's really because of you that the channel is growing. Once you combine our enthusiasm and willingness to learn with your knowledge and own infectious enthusiasm and willingness to teach, the result is truly amazing and captivating videos. You have a brilliant way of explaining things, and you are giving us exactly what we want in your videos. I'm pretty sure we're all here for way more than just looking at aircraft, at the very least, I am anyway. We want to know what, why, and how, and like I said, that's exactly what you're giving us, so in truth, it really is us that should be saying the thank yous 🖖
Thank you so much Kev. I really appreciate it. Cheers
I finally got to see the barking dogs. We sat on the tarmac once while those things ran over and over again. Finally, we returned to the gate where something was repaired, and we finally left over an hour late.
By any chance was this in LAX at gate 41 that you had the delay?
@@StigAviation Nope, Dallas, on United.
I am speechless!!! This is one of the best video I watched up to now, at your channel. Shiiit, you are making me happy and hungry for mooore knowledge everytime I watch your videos. Plus, I extremely appreciate the quality, postproduction, narration recorded during editing process... Very time consumpting in my opinion. When I was recording me playing guitars and putting it all together, it also took certain amount of time.
Stig - please, never stop! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Plus, I am always improving my knowledge of the english language, right with your help.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK AND PASSION👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much Marcel. it’s a pleasure to have you here.
Oh yes! Straight in and face to face with the Airbus Barking Dog !
🐶
Stig, you caught me a bit late 😂 will watch in the morning, now i’ve got something to look forward to!
My friend. Rest. It will be here when you have time.
Live the videos.
Look forward to another "Name that price" episode.

I’ll try to get one together Frank.
THATS what that weird noise is when youre on an A321....Great video. Love your vids.....keep posting all those great shots.
Yup. That’s it. The PTU (aka barking dog) 👍
Thank you Monsieur Stig for all yours videos. It's alway a good opportunity to learn something. You have another fan in France.
It’s a pleasure having you here Arturo. Greetings from LAX.
16:16 Learned there is an "anti shimmy accumulator" in the nose wheel. Not very scientifically, but accurately described by Airbus 😃
That AMG Benz I believe is a 600 SEC!! Wow 👍😎🤙
It’s interesting sometimes how they write the manuals and the wording they use. You have to kind of stop and say to yourself…. What!?! 🤣🤣🤣
Stig, you are by far my favorite aviation channel on RUclips right now. As a pilot myself I love seeing the maintenance side of aviation cause without you guys I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing haha. Keep up the amazing work and content 😎🤙
I appreciate you the kind words. thank you for being here
At (24:04). Man, those Tesla trux look like Martian landers or something. Goofy looking.
They look very futuristic, I wonder if this is where the design is going in future days.
You’re the best always looking forward for your videos. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much Joseph.
One more wonderful video as always Stig. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us my friend.

Hello, from the MIA FO! Look forward to seeing you again, Stig! Now, on to your video!
How are you my friend, always a pleasure to see you. Let me know when you’re in LAX. I’ll try to stop by.
FINALLY I CAN WATCH STIG AGAIN (my phone broke and i had no way to comment)
its been a while but im back since i have my mums laptop since im on holiday in turkey i got here yesterday at 10:30 UK time and im here until the 30th and my birthday is the 24th
first of all ive never flown on the A320 but i was expecting a charter flight with an airline i never knew about before called Freebird Airlines but i googled it and found out its a Turkish charter airline that has partnerships with TUI and then i understood it but weirdly enough i had a TUI A320 operated by Avion Express which i found out by simply googling the registration number on the tail and i remembered at that moment that and i got to sit i the pilots seat and not only that i gave the copilot my camera and the copilot took photos of me sitting in the captains seat and i got to hold the sidestick and thrust levers all on my first A320 experience and as i returned to my seat to get my bags which sadly i forgot one anyways (my bag of haribo gummy bears
😭😭😭) but i also noticed while grabbing my bag i looked out the left side of the plane across from where i sat during the flight and saw the TUI colours on the tail of a plane and on the same planes tails it said *BOEING 767-300* i was geeking outttttttttttttttttt only TUI Nordic still flies em
It’s so good to have you back,. Take your time and catch up on the videos there’s plenty of them for you.
@@StigAviation im glad to be back and i cant wait to watch the videos ive missed!
Stig, you are a good dude. Thank you for sharing your amazing aviation world 👍
Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate you for being here and watching.
I have that l-1011 model, they've become quite valuable! LOVE LOVE LOVE the L-1011, miss them very much!
Same here. I miss working on them very much.
Stig, you have the heart of a teacher. Thank you for all of the knowledge that you share. I learn so much with every video. I have no doubt that your Mother is incredibly proud of you!

this is _ incredible _ content, I'm learning so many interesting things - and presentation is simply amazing, not to mention fun! :D many thanks
Thank you very much. I’m happy you are enjoying it
12:01 Love the L-1011! (and your cat :p)
Definitely one of my favorite models.
I always respected you for being exactly what you are. I respect you even more for sharing, teaching & showing us & your coworkers; and I will tell you why. When I worked @Sony there were certain people (asskissers, brown nosers to be nicer) that were always picked for product training even when it wasn’t their product & to perform a ‘knowledge transfer’ upon their returning to the people who actually had the hands on experience but never sharing to hold others back or to ‘have the power’ over others so they kept it to themselves. I applaud you for your respect of others & not be on a higher level than you coworkers. I could not think of a better man than YOU I’d rather be in a foxhole with. Your Mom did a wonderful job with you!
Thank you so much Jeff for these beautiful and kind words. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart.
btw like the editing style and the voice over it works really well, I know first hand that a YT channel is a lot of work
It definitely takes me a while to put all this together, I like to be detailed and what I show. But it’s worth it because people learn and they discover new things. And I get to talk to wonderful people like you.
@@StigAviation thanks man, I see you are still answering all your comments, I still do too, although my subs can be a little weird at times. I just dropped off a very dear friend of mine for a 15 hour flight from ATL to ICN and see you do your work and what I know about aviation, I feel good knowing she will be safe. take care and be safe out there
Thanks for another amazing Stig adventure. I hope your mom watches your videos as I’m sure she loved your comment to her. Look forward to your next Stig adventure.😊
She did indeed watch it and she was very happy. Thank you as always Terry.
Another Stig Shift!!!!
Dutch Roll is a stability issue. Occurs with strong lateral stability, but weak directional stability - Yawing motion out of sync with rolling motion.
Works like so:
1) Aircraft initially disturbed in Yaw, causes roll in the same direction.
2) As aircraft yaws back, it rolls in the opposite direction. (Aircraft yaws past the original position)
3) The cycle repeats.
Fantastic information. Thank you so much
Stig! I joyfully am on a trip this week, and as I was sitting in my airplane seat watching the ground crew prepare for pushback I thought, "I would love it if Stig talked about what it took to go through schooling and become an aircraft mechanic." Keep up the awesome content!
One of these days, I will make a video just for that, a journey of how to become an aircraft mechanic.
Hey Stig! Thank you so much for these type of videos. I am 18 years old and I’m looking into the aviation industry. You really are expanding my knowledge and trust with these type of videos. Fair well ❤
I am very happy that it is helping, thank you so much for being here
@@StigAviation You're welcome!
Love the Neo. Boeing was good up to the 777. After that, Airbus rocks!
I agree 👌
2:30 That was a great perspective to give on how control surfaces are powered. Awesome footage!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Flight attendant here... I don't have any experience sleeping in crew rest on a 787, but I do on 747s. I can only compare the two from the video. The 787 does looked quite a bit more cramped, but it looks like the mattresses are slightly more comfortable than on our 74s! I don't go up to crew rest too often, but it is nice to be able to nap a bit on super long flights if the need arises, or at least lay out flat! I'm curious though if the 78 crew rest area has the same type of emergency escape that the 74 has, which is to open a panel in the floor, kick out the ceiling panel, and drop down.
Thanks Stig! Have a good one!
Yes, there is the same style of emergency escape, it will drop down into the main cabin.
Fantastic to get idea how flaps etc work.
Great content as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You can always tell if someone is a 737 pilot if they have a cup holder on their cup😂

The Yaw dampener helps Stig greatly ...why? ... if it wasnt there, everyone would have barfed their lunch and poor Stiggy would have had e big mess to deal with. ...so it was designed for him. 🤪
Definitely don’t want to be changing seat covers and seat belts on that flight 🤣
Love love love your videos and your incredible passion. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Love the shots of the running engine just as it shuts down. Because of the frame rate of the video it looks like it’s spinning backwards at times.
I enjoy that very much as well.
Stig shift time! Time to learn something about planes!
Hope you enjoyed it 🤙
Flying on your awesome airplanes again tonight...such great service...

After 2years since i went down the Rabbit hole i absolutely love this guy. My chill out time 🙂 Keep going Stig!😉
Thank you for being here Gari. 🤙
On the Airbuses, do you ever see a tail number and think, oh, that's an old USAir or America West bird? I notice that myself when you show the tails. They must be getting fewer and fewer these days, no?
All the time, I know those tail numbers very well because I used to be America West and US Airways.
This is an awesome video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this industry.
It’s my pleasure James, thank you for watching

Awesome Stig. Always great videos. Can you talk about the fuel tank inspection windows on the lower side of the A320 wing. The black discs with white crosses in them. What’s the significance of the white cross and how does the system work. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻 love it.
I have talked about that in previous videos Gavin. Those are over Pressure burst discs.
First one🤌🤌🤌 gonna enjoy watching this!
Thank you so much for watching. 🤙
Cool and inspiring🤙 Always learn and share knowledge and experience with colleagues, that's really nice point, Stig!!!
Thank you. Glad you are like minded
Man, you don’t realize how valuable people like yourself are to youngins. I remember when I was just getting into Automotive and I became a sponge and loved absorbing information.
You may love talking a lot but you are preaching knowledge that will surely help those youngins. Love it Stig 🙏🏽🫶🏽
Thank you so much for your kind words. That really means a lot to me. I will keep trying to do my best to help where I can.
At 54.00 onwards you're words mean so much and are so true. Thank you Stig for these videos, I'm useless at tech, I can't even change a plug but as an avgeek I love these videos, I really like that I learn something new everytime.
The best Aviation channel.........................................................in the world!❤
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend. I truly appreciate them. It’s a pleasure to have you here Stephen.
Another great and super informative video! I am curious, with the recent Airbus 330 electrical fire at Sea/Tac airport, could you explain for us the policies/procedures for ground support folks, as well as A&P mechanics, when a fire is discovered involving a aircraft? In the RUclips video, there appeared to be quite a bit of confusion. Thanks again for everything you do!
I believe that was an Airbus 321 and when something like that happens, there is usually a very quick response time from emergency crews. In such emergency situations, the most important part is peoples safety, if safety is compromised, then people need to get away from that area. But that being said if there is somebody that can respond quickly, because there are fire extinguishers all over the place, without putting themselves into danger then they would have. as a technician if I see something like that, I will try to save the aircraft, but I will not put my life into immediate danger unless I saw somebody else in danger, then I would do my best to save them or help them. If the airplanes gonna burn down but nobody has been hurt, then let it burn down. It’s just metal. People are more important to me, I’ll save people not the aircraft. Hope that made sense 😅
Stig, Thank you for expressing the AMT profession as a positive experience. If you influence one or more viewers to consider a career opportunity in the aviation field, you have done a very good deed!!! Thanks again!
P.S. I am old enough to remember loading NAV databases with 6,7 or 8 floppy disks.
I try my best to show the younger generation that there is more opportunities out here in the world, one of which is my profession, aircraft mechanic. I don’t want to see this line of work fade away.
And oh my goodness, those floppy disks, the bane of my existence. Especially if one of them was corrupted. 😅
I think I spotted you several times while I was on holiday in LA last week (spent 95% of the holiday planespotting of course)
You probably did. I’m always on the ramp
Greetings! I just want to say that I love your videos!! It is always interesting to see things from another airline's perspective, I am from SWA my self. Cheers and keep up the great work!!!

Hi Stig, Totally agree with you on sharing your knowledge, knowledge is power if you share it. Too many people think that keeping it to themselves makes them stronger, that is simply not the case! Keep up the great channel, your enthusiasm is so powerful. I found the best way to know your trade and skills is being able to teach others. Best to you and your Mum (Mom), sorry i'm a Brit!
Thank you so much sir, and I once again 100% agree with you, passing on a knowledge, not only teaches the future generation but also teaches me. Cheers 🤙

So now that I've watched all of your videos, I feel confident I'm now ready for my aircraft technician engineer test. After seeing how thorough and elaborate you are, I'm sure I'll pass with flying colors! 🤣🤣🤣
I have no doubt you will be able to do it. But just remember I open the door for you, you have to walk through it. There’s a lot more that’s behind the systems. I am merely scratching the surface.
