      @@Mellyswardrobe I also have some other questions!---- I'm sorry but i have simply no knowledge about making dresses or clothes in general but curiousity is killing me and i have a urge to actually try making this somehow- Imma just put them down like this:
      1. How do you make the details on the bodice\corset, with details i mean the white figure thingys xD.
      2. How do you make\get the white dress thingy that you wear under it or made it on and what is it called? With that i mostly mean the back area xD.
      3. How did you make\get the fabrics since they are amazingly beautifull!
      Welllll thats it xD I'm sorry if im questioning too much but i just have this thing that i have the urge do something i know i simply cant- in other words trying to make this dress with 0 knowledge-- Imma see how this all will turn out and if i'll actually do it (which i might-)

      @@Xiao961 HEllo, no problem, I hope I understand the questions correctly haha :D
      1. I've bought the appliqués like this, they are "ready to sew" directly on your outfit, generally they represent flowers, you can find a lot of lace appliqués on the internet or specialized shops ;)
      2. The volume on the back is given by a cage petticoat which has the volume in the back, which is typical of this era. This is not part of the dress, this is an underwear, like the corset. It gives the good shape and structure to put the dress over :) There are boning inside to give the volume and support a heavy dress on top. :D sites.create-cdn.net/siteimages/35/4/9/354918/15/7/4/15743120/801x1200.jpg
      3. This fabric is a reproduction of an existing one this I was reproducing a specific costume. Sometimes I draw/ design my fabrics and print them on spoonflower, OR I find the fabric on internet or shops ;) With experience you learn to recognize the right designs for every era ;)
      and "4". I really don't mind about the lot of questions ;) I was like you in the beginning! Interested, but I didn't know where to start haha! I had to spend a lot of hours surfing on blogs and forums, and asking other people of course :D Thanks again for your interest with my work, take care, these months are so strange... -_-

    I'm trying to make my own version of this dress, for the undergarments did you use a crinoline to keep the shape of the skirt?

    • @Mellyswardrobe
      @Mellyswardrobe  Год назад

      Hello, this is not a crinoline but a bustle :) I’ve used the grand bustle pattern from truly Victorian (all the patterns I’ve used here are from TV by the way :) ) I’ve listed everything in my costume blog if you want to take a look: dentelleetsatin.blogspot.com
      If you are on a computer, click the pic of the wishing gown on the right , you’ll be able to find all the posts concerning this dress ;) Good luck with this project :D
