flawless tennis from Tsitsi. High and long balls, short cross court balls as well as right to left. Rublev was never in a good position to hit his monster forehand.
One of the best displays of strategic and laser focused tennis I've seen in a while. Tsitsipas made Rublev of all players, appear amateurish at times. The Greek kept the ball away from Russian's strike zone, by pinning him to his backhand side, with a barrage of inside out forehands and angled cross-court backhands. And when the court opened up, he went inside in and invariably won the point. When the ball did land in Rublev's strike zone, Stefanos's incredible court coverage helped him stay in the rallies. And his big serve, helped him consolidate points. Well played Stefanos Tsitsipas 🇬🇷🇬🇷
Precisely! You'll think it's a simple enough strategy against Rublev. But not many players are capable of executing it. This is a strategy Federer has employed to the tee.

Had Tsitsipas been a lefty, I would have said that the game is on this RG. But, you simply cannot time the ball consistently for 3-5 sets with a single handed backhand when the ball bounces above your head. That bounce is what Nadal thrives on.
@@pauljohnson6019 It's kinda impossible for Roger though. Especially since he won't even play Madrid. Only way to do that is if he somehow shows up in great form and doesn't meet Rafa, Novak or Thiem. Hell, i don't think he can beat Tsitsipas as well, on clay at least. One hand backhand vs two hand backhand... a nice win of tennis style vs mere push force from base line.. Srefano is a real master, he can play all shots with pure class. Bravo 👏
one handed back hand is stronger than the two handed backhand because of the greater range of loading just prior to contact. You pull your back all the way back and then let it rip. Two handed restricts your torso, for weaklings with no core strength. Don't @ me

Tsitsipas actually has quite a phenomenal backhand. I used to think it wasn't a strong suit for him but I think it might be equally as good or better than his forehand. He doesn't get a ton of power like a Wawrinka backhand, but he times it very well, has great preparation footwork for it and a good swing technique. Very reliable shot for him at almost every position of the court.
his forehand is much better and is his weapon, but he's improved that backhand a lot. nobody is going to get the kind of power generation that Wawrinka achieves, (he is the King of 1 handed backhand in his prime) but i think Tsitsipas backhand is better than Roger's current backhand for sure.
@@Baratheon. Indeed, i agree! Stef's bh is very good on clay cos he has more time to get a better hold of the grip and fire it with higher precision. Not so good on hard courts, it's his weakness i'd say and that's why all the top guys target it. It's better than current Roger's, but not even close to 2017 Roger or prime Roger's (2004-2007).
No, it isn't! It's very good on clay and was on fire against Andrey, but that's about it. His backhand is his main weakness in general, especially on hard-court. It's inconsistent... on clay, he has more time to set it up, get a better hold of the grip and thus make much less unforced errors. Thiem's(when in-form) is much better and stronger. Shapovalov's too, but he tends to overplay it.
@@ΚωνσταντίνοςΑργύρης-ζ9τ i didn't say its the strongest tho, i said its "probably" the most balanced. I can agree that thiem's has more power, but power isnt everything in this sport.
Perfect game execution, perfect week. No ups, no downs from Tsitsipas just focused on his game. That’s what wins: talent + mental strength (consistency). For those who say he had an easy draw let me remind you that he put away with EASE those who beat Novak (Evans) and Rafa (Rublev). Great week for Rublev too who was simply outplayed in the final by the better player. Looking forward to 2021 being indeed the breakthrough year for a change in the guard. Love Roger, love Rafa but there is too much young talent out there to remain on the sidelines. Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Rublev, Sinner, Korda, Shapovalov, to name a few. Congratulations to Stefanos for his long awaited and well deserved first Masters Trophy. 🏆🇬🇷🔥
There are two main reason why Tsitsipas play better on clay , his movement is so much better on this surface ,and it gave him more time to aim for the ball ,especially on the returning of his BH . I presume it is because he used to train on clay ,I always think his footwork on hard is a little clumsy at times ,clay court seems to hide that disadvantage. The high bounce and the slower speed definitely help his return game a lot ,he struggled from returning from the bh side on faster court ,missed hit a lot on ground strokes too.
Man look at the size of the Tsitsi to Rublev. He looks beast. Even without starting the match I knew he would win but I so wanted Rublev to win. Rublev's time will come. Tsitsi is scary when he is good, big serve and smashing forehand and backhand.
John Isner can make pancakes out of Tsitsipas but I would put money on Tsitsipas winning. On the other hand all the Big 3 are around 6'1 but most likely would beat Tsitsipas (probs not Roger rn but before his surgeries 100%). My point is size isn't everything once u cross 6 foot tbh
Congrats Stefanos, truly deserved!! He didn't get to beat Nole and Rafa on his way to winning his first master1000, but the way he thumped the 2 players who beat Nole and Rafa, I'm pretty sure he'd win it regardless.
Great tournament for both and the quality of the final match said it all for the level these duo are hitting right now. Crazy blend of raw power, depth, angle and footwork
from start to finish it was a man on a mission. all week this guy meant business. one thing to win a 1000 but another thing to win in this authoritative manner. i already knew he was super strong on clay after him beating rafa in madrid 19, losing to stan in an all time epic clash in RG 19 and taking novak to 5th set in RG 20. now i'm beginning to believe he can be a real handful on grass as well given his big serve, unmatchable court coverage and great volleys. i feel he's better on organic courts than artificial ones. but even though Stef looking like the 3rd favorite for RG 21 after rafa and novak my suggestion would be not to count out Domi yet.
@@707ladytee I agree ,Thiem should be ahead of Djokovic given the result they played before ,but he got some trouble lately and I don't know if he can regroup himself . The clay season is def gonna be interesting with all those young guns thriving on clay ( Ruud , Tsitsipas ,Rublev ,Alcaraz ,Felix etc)
Stan vs Stefanos was razor close as well. Wawrinka played ridiculously to win games from 0-40 down like 3 times lol. Stef was knocking at his door with a ton of break point opportunities throughout the match

Bravo Megas Stefanos🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷💪
🔥🇬🇷Ναι ρε ελλαδαρα
This was a tsitsipas Masterclass today ! Completly destroyed rublev and playing super agressive ! Glad he finnaly win a Master 1000 and prooves even more his skills on clay which are even better than Hardcourt
Yeah.He is more clay court player than hard court player.I think in 1-2 years he will take the french open
The most like a true champion I've ever seen Tsitsipas. Congrats.
Congratulations 👏 Couldn’t be more happier for Stefanos! Not only because he is from my country but also because he literally deserves this tremendous win! He put so much effort and “meraki”into it. Winning this tournament is a stepping stone that unlocks his true talent by improving even more his mentality and boosting his confidence! Also great performance by Rublev this year! Can’t wait to see more matches between these two players in the future ✌️
Perfect play! So well deserved! May this be the first of many more....
Amazing performance by Tsitsipas, he's reached a new level.
honestly Stef played flawless today. I don't think anyone could've stopped him. Rublev should be proud, he had a brutal draw and picked off Nadal.
agree 💯
Rafa stopped him in Barcelona
@@Laland_1196 he did, as much as I hate the butt-scratching OCD weirdo.
@@jdelorenzod2725 you hate him but he will won
@@Laland_1196 he can win 100 Grand Slams, I don't care. I hate everything about him haha
Don't @ me
@@AJ-iu6nw Not really . It is understandle for d women but lots of strong men have 2-handed BHs- Nadal, Isner, etc.
Love single -handers.
@@cswong6102 found the 2-hander weakling

Well deserved, a true champion, with great personality and courage.
What a quality tennis from tsitsipas. Looking forward to roland garros

Tsitsipas os a great player for every surfaces...... good job CHAMPION!!!!
Stefanos' backhand is a beast. Probably the most balanced one-handed backhand in the ATP right now
No, it isn't!
The extra time on clay allows Tsitsipas to hit through his shots more. He looks more comfortable than on hard court.
Yes if this was played on hard Rublev would rush him much more
So you’re saying clay courts are slower than hard courts?!? Nick Boleterri better watch his back...
Why doesn’t this help federer then
@@tapiwapotera3885 because Federer plays fast and takes everything early
There are two main reason why Tsitsipas play better on clay ,
his movement is so much better on this surface ,and it gave him more time to aim for the ball ,especially on the returning of his BH .
Great form and focus from Stephanos! I hope he carries on like this for RG!
Man look at the size of the Tsitsi to Rublev. He looks beast. Even without starting the match I knew he would win but I so wanted Rublev to win. Rublev's time will come. Tsitsi is scary when he is good, big serve and smashing forehand and backhand.
Tsitsipas and Shapovalov bulk up in 2019, still waiting for Zverev who looked ridiculous in his sleeveless shirts lol
@@farhatk6054 What do you mean with ridiculous? Strong? Scary? Laughable?
@@farhatk6054 Shapovslov doesn't bulked up at all lol. Zverev definitely needs a bulk tbh
@Ryo Shusuke it’s you again
I'm not sure his serve is big enough for grass courts, but I agree on everything else
Idk how you have Djoko in front of Thiem and Tsitsi, but to each their own. The rest I agree.
@@707ladytee I agree ,Thiem should be ahead of Djokovic given the result
they played before ,but he got some trouble lately and I don't know if he can regroup himself .

Congrats to Stefanos for a long awaited win. Although, I do feel bad for Andrey. Wish him a title in the future. The two of them will have good battles in the future.
So happy Tsitsipas won his first masters event
Yes, Masters, not GS.
@@martydav9475 I really hope he can start dominating grass like Roger used to,there is no good grass court player from the next gen currently.
They all suck not gonna lie ,with Roger getting older and injured Wimbledon will just be Novak's play ground without any fight.

Third time was a charm for Stefanos Tsitispas! Congrats to finally winning his first Masters 1000 title! It seemed like a long time coming. Also congrats to Andrey Rublev for an awesome week, getting to his first. He keeps going like this he'll win one soon enough. I'm glad ATP didn't spoil it in the thumbnail this time 🙂. Looking forward to how the clay court season will pan out for these two, who are becoming great rivals.
Stefanos-- Future French Open Champion, maybe multiple. Very possibly. His game is ideal for clay!
Ακριβως. No surprise he made his breakthrough in BCN in 2018. Lets see how he fares nect week...
Can australian open repeat happen in paris... can tsitsipas beat nadal in roland garros ; will be fascinating to watch. Though very difficult but not impossible
Stefanos has reached a new level
Tsitsipas is very clever player. He has a nice backhand. Both of them are my favourites. But Stefanos played very well. CONGRATS GREEK GOD😎
Semifinal last week, this week final next master 1000 hopefully win. Congrats rublev for an amazing week, your time will also come soon
Tsitsipas was just too good today, congrats!
Stefanos is only 22 years old. I can't belive so young player play so well. Can't imagen him in 2 or 3 more years..

6:47 this rally shows exactly the try-harding mode of Rublev and the consistency of Tsitsipas. Rublev really hammering the forehand on the backhand side of Tsitsipas. But his backhand is insanely good that Rublev doesn’t have a clue anymore.
