    Love your books and now these videos - I wonder when someone says to face a painful feeling and eventually it fades if this isn't just letting the 'bad' chemical drain away.

      Drugs are VERY interesting none the less you must admit. And mamals NEED drugs. When and ONLY when we use them as needed they are an amazing gift from NATURE. They can also be just as terrible no doubt. The mammalian brain, particularly human brains LOVES drugs. Especially drugs like morphine/diacetylmorphine. Or cannabinoids such as THC which acts like anandamide in the brain. (By the way I wish you would have spoke about anandamide. Its important neuro chemical as well.) Opiots/opioids are very efficient at high jacking our brains and it can lead to terrible addiction. Sometimes for life. In fact my opioid addiction is what has inspired my learning about neuro chemicals and science. I have been on a methadone program for a few years now and have not used any morphine or diacetylmorphine since. Your videos are great buy the way.

    • @InnerMammalInstitute
      @InnerMammalInstitute  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Shane. I just want to clarify for everyone that I do not advocate taking drugs in any way. I explain how our thoughts trigger these chemicals, and thus it's worth the effort to build power over you thoughts. Yay for you and everyone who has learned that.

    • @shanescatsandcannabisfarm2965
      @shanescatsandcannabisfarm2965 3 года назад

      @@InnerMammalInstitute In ANY way? So If someone was in agonizing pain you wouldn't suggest drugs? Or if a person has severe depression no drugs? Or even a headache for that matter??

    • @ritvikreddy3959
      @ritvikreddy3959 2 месяца назад

      @@shanescatsandcannabisfarm2965 Bro why did get offended? She is saying the truth. Drugs help to relieve pain but majority of the people use them just to cope and then later get addicted to it. Majority of the problems people face and are not severe can easily be cured without taking any drugs. In you other comment below , you mentioned about depression and headache. They can easily be cured without taking any drugs. You will first have to understand how brain works when you undergo these emotions, if you understand that then you can find ways to stop the trigger which brings you pain. And even when there is nothing going on in people's life , they go to clubs,drink alcohol and get high just to act cool in front of people. What do you have to say about that? And taking your opioid addiction as an example , if you had learnt about it earlier you have never had been addicted to opioid.

    Great lessons. It seems all improvement can start here. The idea is to reinforce the chain reactions that actually lead to success, happiness, and less of things we don’t want such as war and violence. It also raises important questions about the Elon Musk’s company Neuralink, as to what impulses we should further reinforce with brain surgery of the future. Great information.

    Thanks for explanation! However, I don't get 1 point. Why our brain still lets negative thoughts if cortisol is released when we think negatively? Okay, the negative thoughts are based on beliefs, however shouldn't our brain kick them out when cortisol is released?

    • @InnerMammalInstitute
      @InnerMammalInstitute  5 месяцев назад +1

      Good question! Because our brain is always trying to protect us from harm. Anything that protected once builds a pathway that motivates you to repeat it. How do negative thoughts protect you? The rational answer is that they warn you to avoid getting hit by a car or saying something that will make people mad at you. But non-rational outcomes can also result. For example, if you invite a person for a date and they say no, and it feels bad, so your brain decides never to invite someone on a date to avoid that bad feeling.

    Thankyou so much for your content, delivery and information.
    I have a question. Ive been on SSRI, Citalopram for 8 years. I have lately been feeling like with lifes new stressors as a Mom of two young ones, the med is “running low” or not as effective. I know youre not my doctor but, do you have any advice for me? Furthermore, is it possible for my brain to ever get off these meds and live a content life?
    Thankyou for your time.
    Thankyou.

    • @InnerMammalInstitute
      @InnerMammalInstitute  Год назад

      As you know, I can't give medical advice. I was stressed when I was a parent, and now my daughter has two young ones. It never gets easier if you look at it through the lens of your old pathways, so you have to build new pathways. For example, instead of focusing on what you do wrong, focus on what you do right. Instead of focusing on your child's bad behavior, focus on their good behavior. I wish I had learned this sooner!!!!! Here is my parenting page: innermammalinstitute.org/parenting
