Loved your synopsis of our work!!! Yes , in that one build in the pine forests of California we used pinecones to increase surface area...good call! Our Solar CITIES teams always experiment with very local materials. It is why you see such variation in our builds around the world. Each is a unique experiment and chance to make improvements and local adaptations celebrating the genius and innovation of each person and community.
Regarding the IBC gas holder you should know that we don't need two different sized IBCs. Years ago in Portugal we figured out how to rotate the gas holding tank 90 degrees and cut it fit it in another tank of same size by bowing out the cage slightly.
I just finished another one here in Palestine last night. I would live to show you.
Also would live to visit you in NZ and help out in any way possible. Never been to NZ...it has always been s dream!
    Warmly, T.H.

Hi Thomas- so good to be in touch again. we have chatted years ago on FB, but I dont use it any longer. Thank you for finding this vid and commenting. Your work is invaluable! And thankyou for wising me up to how the gas holder is made- I can share that info!. I did build a bladder stomach 5 years ago but it was not suitable for my location. This time I will be making this digester using all the tricks that you and your people have taught me in the last 5 years! Ill be doing plenty of vids and you will be promoted tirelessly it the series. I knew a decade ago that your work would become very important- Thank you once again TH!

    Hi,
Thanks Lot for your informative video documentation on BioGas Digester. I live in wellington and keen to have a go on this for our Home use mainly for heating, but not sure how it might work in Wellington Weather. For a start I made a query from Wellington City Council regarding the council guidance when building a Home BioGas Unit, Officer replied said he will pass my query to experts for advice and also suggested to check with a Registered Plumber. Still I haven't got a proper response from The Council. Are you aware of any specific requirements that need to follow. I believe it is mostly common sense actions when dealing with flammable gas types. Soon I expect to start building the Digester once I managed to purchase three IBC 's.
Even though I got plenty of space underneath the house for the BioDigester, I am planning to install it by the side of the Home. I am not sure whether it is safe to put underneath the house. Advantage may be protection from Cold wind. But may have to keep a gas detector as a safety precaution.
What are the areas that I need to be careful and aware of when installing and maintaining the BioGas System.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
    Best Regards,
    Jagath

It's sitting waiting for a dose of cow poo to activate it. I was intending to fire it up when it hit 20C - but this has been the wierdest summer we have ever seen. Insane rain and flooding- It never got over 32C air temp and the Digester contents did not reach 20 core temp. So I waited and waited. Now its Autumn... Ive built 4 cabins and greenhouse and fixed a whole heap of stuff though! Sorry haha. Im itching to get it going as LPG is now $42 nzd a bottle! In short- Stay watching- It will happen!

It's all made, but nobody wants to see a video unless it has a happy ending. We have just had 12 months of horrible weather. so Ive not had a reliable 16C airtemp. without that gas production is really lethargic. Only now is our weather clearing a little. The vid is part made- I just have to film the happy ending!

Rather than trying find two tanks that fit in each other for gas storage I'm going to stack one tank on top of the other other conect the bottom of the bottom tank to the bottom of the upper tank and as the bottom tank fills up with gas the water is pushed up to the top tank and the weight of the water column will give it pressure I too have watched numerous videos on building methane gas digesters storing the gas and putting it in propane tanks for storage and portability
