- Pink Floyd double bill! Forgot to say delay time for WTIO but it's 1/2 note one side and 1/4 the other..Swell is done with volume pedal..Thanks again to Matthew Miller for remote production and Aston Mics for help..
And yes I know my flies are undone!
Never realized how important and prominent the bass was on the intro to Inside Out. Genius.
Love the subtle irony at 5:00, about to play "Wearing the Inside Out" with your fly down.
The bass line on the live versions of One Slip takes the song to an entirely new level.
Wearing the inside out features the most under rated Gilmour solo...
It also has beautiful lyrics, its actually one of my favorites songs from PF
Wow this is just sensational and passionate !!!!!!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I think the entire The Division Bell album is both underrated and over looked, just because Waters wasn’t in the band. Gilmour took advantage of the opportunity to play what was on his heart instead of being forced what to play to satisfy Roger Waters. Same thing applies to Mason and Wright, such a great album!
yeah, i could listen to that WTIO riff for hours, love it... like ambient bass ...
Not only is your bass playing spectacular, but your good sense of humour and light hardheartedness is really appreciated in these times.
Finally youtube's algorithm suggesting something right. Elite musician. Funny guy. Humble. Played in Pink Floyd. He even sang in Run to hell! Related to Rick Wright...and my wife just asked me "who is that guy"...me: "the guy that play bass in Like a prayer"....Peace and Love from Argentina.
The only thing I miss about lockdown is these vids.
The Wearing Inside Out bass riff is something brilliant!
It is simple but sophisticated at the same time. Smooth as much as rhythmic.
Thans for helping to create a wonderful song
I don't think, I've ever heard more beautiful bassline than this. Natural, unique, "simple", fantastic and its so relaxing. Out of this world.
one most amazing slap solo in music history
Thanks Guy, awesome insight and as far as I’m concerned you’re part of floyd to me, so many wonderful memories that will never fade, stay safe and keep making us smile
Guy, you are truly lucky to know Rick, Nick and David. Rick holds a special place for me since he seemed so kind and genuine. He was the George Harrison of Pink Floyd. I’m glad I got to see you all in 2006.
Wearing the inside out. Just hearing that melody melts my soul
Wearing the inside out bass part is just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!
And Also ONE OF THESE DAYS Pulse Version, !!!!!!
You're a true legend Guy. You got to work alongside my absolute guitar idol, Mr David Gilmour. Your bass work is second to none. You're a true gentleman.
Fantastic! Hardly noticed your open fly!
Hi Guy, I remember you well at the Pink Floyd concert in Cava dei Tirreni in Italy on May 25, 1989 while playing this song, I was right under the stage. Long blonde hair and great charisma. I was a 19 year old young man and you were much younger on stage too but I am pleased to see that your energy is the same as then. I learned to play bass thanks to you. Now that at 50 I find myself watching this video while I am in the hospital to cure myself of a serious illness, the emotions of that beautiful concert have come back to me. Dear Guy, your sympathy and professionalism are a stimulus for me to get out of here, take my bass and play "one slip". Thanks Guy.
A hug from Italy.
William
Guy Pratt was a household name once my dad brought home the Delicate Sound Video. My bothers and I would brag to friends and family about how awesome “The new Pink Floyd bass player” was.
That solo bit on One Slip was amazing. Thank you for putting yourself in pain. Sincerely appreciated.
I used to play bass as a teenager (late 40s now) and could only ever dream to being able to play like that. So perfect. Such emotions of amazment, envy, oneness all mixed together watching this. Thank you for doing these videos, Guy. I hope all's well with you.
thanks for the back story on wearing the inside out. it is still one of my fave songs and is just great storytelling through music with so much emotion.
You are simply amazing, Guy! Thank you so much!
That second bass figure is so simple yet profound and mesmerizing.
One Zip!
I think playing the inside out whilst having your fly undone on your jeans is brilliant!!!
😂🤣👏👏👏
Looks like “Little Guy” isn’t under lockdown!!!
perhaps steve...guy was practising learning to fly.😊
Ian Carpenter hahaha, nice one😂
Wearing the inside out is so beautiful i love that song from the very first time that i heard it, that bass line is ethereal and beautiful
Two of my favorite later years songs. Love One Slip! It's great to hear you put something together for WTIO that both sounds like old Floyd and new Floyd. Hard to get that mixture right but you nailed it!
Man, what you did on Wearing The Inside Out was brilliant! Very much a Floyd thing adding both tension and soothing roots simultaneously. Thank you for your genius!
Oh man, do you know how many times I've watched and heard One Slip live with you and Gary Wallis putting up all the show?? Literally thousands!! And now seeing you doing that exact bit! This is awesome stuff you shared with all of us!!
Bravo ! Bravo ! Bravo ! One kiss from Italy 🙏👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Brilliant--loved hearing that again and puts a smile on the fizzogg
Love your bass on PF and DG recordings, you were the Energizer bunny on stage & loved your energetic live performances with them. Separately, always noticed the bass lines form Earth Song & had no idea who it was... was happy & impressed to hear it was you! Been locking down with DG & catching up on concert documentaries. Fascinating for those of us who really appreciate the end result to know how some of it comes together. Thanks for doing these!
I’ve been watching you for YEARS now Guy - going on a couple of decades maybe, seeing and hearing your work on the Pink Floyd albums and videos I’ve purchased and have watched so many times thru the years being a Pink Floyd fan since my discovery of them in ‘75 when I was 16 years old here in the state of Arkansas in the USA. Anyway, this was way cool to actually hear you talk and communicate rather than just seeing you perform your music with the Floyd. You’re a very affable and well spoken bloke and I enjoyed your demo and descriptions immensely. I was especially impressed and touched by your thoughts up front regarding this Covid pandemic and your concerned well-wishes to everyone watching. Thank you for being the down to earth affable person you are and for adding your gifted personal touch to one of my all-time favorite bands as they (with your added talent) carried on post-Waters and produced real signature Pink Floyd feeling music that has moved me to the core of my soul and rivaled the best of what they had ever done before Waters left. Momentary Lapse and Division Bell are MASTERPIECES of musical artistry and the videos I’ve seen of the live performances of those album’s songs with you in the midst of it all are as emotion-evoking to me as the performances of any of the earlier Floyd classics! You are one blessed bloke to have been in the midst of such musical legends as Dave, Richard, and Nick and been a part of continuing and adding to the Pink Floyd legend with your own gifted talent! Much appreciation from me to you!...

Thank you Randall. Much appreciated
Wonderful Guy, simply wonderful
It's nice to hear a bassist held in such high esteem go "whoops!" every now and again. Gives the rest of us hope. x
Had no idea you had a RUclips channel, glad I stumbled upon this! Even though I’m a guitarist who occasionally dabbles on the bass and keys I’ve always appreciated the importance of a good bassist. Same goes for drums and rhythm guitars / keys. Guy is definitely one of the best and his book was a great read too!
Met you a couple of years ago in Ireland, you made me laugh 😂. Take care Guy, stay safe.
This is absolutely lovely. Thanks for your time man. You are a living legend. Cheers!
Thanks so much for sharing and all of the insight, Guy!! I've been an admirer of your playing for many, many years!!
Wearing the inside out is Best song ever ... for me :) and best sounding bass I’ve ever heard live is One of these days ... David Gilmour concert in Vienna 2016 .... many thanks
A surrealidade das musicas do Rick wright é diferenciada. Tem uma beleza diferente. Te leva a lugares diferentes. É incrível
Guy you are most of what got me going through 2020!!!
Brilliant! Thank you so much Guy, you’re playing has always blown us away!🙏🏻🎧
One of my favorite bass player😉
Have really enjoyed your videos, and have been a longtime fan of your work - not just with the Floyd/Gilmour, but your numerous contributions to so many great artists and records. One of my favorites is Bryan Ferry's "Is Your Love Strong Enough?" on the U.S. soundtrack for Legend. As a very young man purchasing the special edition DVD of the movie years ago, it was a thrill to watch the music video and realize that it was indeed Mr. Gilmour playing that marvelous soaring solo (pre-internet and having not yet established my love for Ferry and Roxy Music, nor had I see the Live Aid performance with Gilmour trading out one Strat with a bum pickup for the Candy Apple Red one he'd become known for 'til the Black Strat's return... anyway, I digress). But the other thing that has always stuck with me about the song, besides the guitar solo and Ferry's vocal, was the bass line... and to read somewhere that it was basically the song with which you auditioned for Ferry... well, as a fan, that floored me. In any case, as simple as the chord progression is, your fills, flourishes, and overall feel on the bass gives it such vitality. I'd love if you'd consider that song for one of your Lockdown Licks.
All the best to you and your loved ones through this crisis. Cheers, sir!
Thanks Guy! Love your work!
AWESOME! Love all your Work! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with us!
It made me happy to hear you say something nice about Roger’s bass playing 🙂
I thought that DG played bass on most of the albums?
@@stevesmith3990 Gilmour definitely played on some songs, but I think Roger still plays on most albums (except for the ones after the final cut, obviously)
I’ve watched this video a few times and just noticed that Guy’s zipper is down throughout
Splendid videos!! Really enjoyable, many thanks.
Thanks for doing these videos Guy.
It's content like this that really helps to keep people sane at the moment. Look forward to the next one! :)
I remember your bass solo in money from delicate sound of thunder. Like if David you gave you the ok To show what you can do on a bass. One of my favorite bass solo from you with pink floyd.
hi mr Pratt,
I went to the Argentina recital in 2015, its sound was gigantic, I think that perhaps a tutorial of the musical piece "one these days" would be a beautiful contribution to the community that admires it, thank you very much and take care of yourself and take care of Mr. Gilmour
Thank you very much Guy!
Fantastic!
You are a genious! Thanks for that amazing input on Pink Floyd.
LOL. Played the whole video with your fly open.
Those harmonics are killer
Wearing the inside out is maybe best song ever ... for me
Thank you so much Guy, is very very inspiring see you playing and telling these amazing stories. Love everything of your work, but Pink Floyd work is beyond beautiful!
5:36 for those of you who might be scrolling, this is were he goes to wearing the inside out from one slip :)
Cant wait for the Money bass solo,
Can you do the One of These Days solo? and the pedals you are using?! Thank you!
Thanks Guy, loved it on first release and still one of my favorites now. Stay well Sir!
Absolute pleasure to watch this! Especially WTIO. Thanks you, Guy!
Guy, mate. Your fly's are undone 5:41
Yes! Toy Matinee, Please and thank you!
This is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Just awesome, Guy - thanks for sharing your gifts.
.
And yeah never noticed the fly 👏
So Guy’s not trimming his beard until “this” is ended - could be a long time - hence long/big beard
I suggest Guy, you contact Leland Sklar for his grooming techniques when wearing a big beard
Just found out this video, so cool, thank you for showing us this licks in such a relaxed and joyful manner. Inspiring both the bass playing and the attitude 🙏
Thanks for showing this, it's astonishing. I'll never hear it the same as before
Can you do One of these days?
Guy, your lockdown video series is excellent and just what we all need. Can I ask, do you always play with your zip down? (6:22) ;-)
Amazing. Thank you for share this magical sounds
Wow, thanks for the songs and the stories! Cheers from Venezuela... Stay safe!
can u play isolated bass from sorrow? is amazing thanks
I've already done it on another one.
What album was Flying Low off? Maybe you can crop the vid :)
you are my fav pink floyd bass player! so good to see you resurface you are usually a very private person! glad to see you well, healthy and still the master of the craft
Brilliant stuff Guy, really enjoying this series.
Too bad you’re not gonna play your base line of Another Brick in the Wall in Pulse, under the Tim’s solo. I think is one of the best line ever. Maybe if I write this over and over again you may think there are many of us who would like to listen to that. 😃
It's practically the same as One Slip..
@@guypratt7104 You know I'm just realizing that? My God, sometimes music is so tricky!
There was a time when I used to listen to that piece every night before going to sleep. It was somehow relaxing to me. Don't ask me why...
Surprised you didn't get a song writing credit :-)
This is just wonderful. Thanks Guy! Looking forward to the Money solo. ❤
Remember seeing this as a young teenage bass player on the live vhs when it first came out. Just blew my mind! I couldn't believe that it was even possible to do that on the bass. Still sounds great today. Thanks Guy.
please, Guy, money solo on next video
What was it like working with Rachel Fury during the 80s tour? Is she a nice person? She simply disappeared! :(
She was lovely. I'd worked with her before..
this is great, thank you for posting this, hopefully you can talk about all your experiences across your carreer. I loved your energy when I saw you that first time on a VHS tape, glad to found your channel
I was at the concert in Bordeaux/France in Summer 1994 !!! I was 22 and it was Magic !!! My best concert ever...
One of these days I'm going to cut Guy's beard into little pieces.
You could auction off pieces of that beard, for a good charity wrt covid, of course . .
your resume says pink floyd but your face screams gentle giant
Guy...I am a big fan and really enjoyed watching in Pink Floyd.......
Wow, i never search this, but is gold, thank you Guy Pratt, you're a cool bassplayer
The most egregious of the bass edits from The Later Years: 4:50 into Us and Them. The original was melodic, tasteful, and well-placed. The edit....sounds like a 14-year old got lost halfway through and reverted back to the root to figure out where they were.
You’re not kidding, they also made Rick’s piano solo sound absolutely shit, good thing we can listen to the full version on DSOT.
Glad I didn’t buy the Later Years, what a complete shambles.
Sorry, Guy, but i threw a perfectly good Fender Jazz out my FUCKING window trying to do this.
Thanks for the videos Guy, appreciate you taking the time, and as a bass playing Floyd fan, this one is the mutts nuts!!
That back to life swell is beautiful, didn't realize it was played on a bass. Thanks for doing these videos Guy,.
Why were you not credited as a writer on Wearing The Inside Out?
Because Pink Floyd.. It's fine ~I got coin..
@@guypratt7104 No coin, no party! 💪👍
It’s called integrity!
Why did you not get a songwriting credit on "Wearing The Inside Out"? Jon Carin got one for the keyboard riff on "Learning To Fly". Robbed :)
He also composed it
@@Gilmourized Song is credited to Richard Wright/Moore, Anthony
I get a piece just not a credit.
@@guypratt7104 Nice of the gabagools in Cambridge to let you wet your beak :)
Thank you, you're Good!!! All the best for you and your loved ones.
Wow what a brilliant idea (wearing the inside out ) my favourite TDB song !
Never noticed that even if I heard that song a million time through a million of different kinda speakers and headphones ! Thanks Guy...for such work on the Division bell which I believe by the contribution of all of you .. you released the album which changed my life for ever in the end of that spring of 1994... there’s a life before it and a life after it .. I was 21 and just discover through it the best music in the world .. and the best band ever !
