That tremolo bass part to 'One Of These Days'' was awesome. I could see the projection of those hypnotic yellow circles and red lights in my mind as you played it!
My 14 year old son this past year told me that he wanted to really get into playing the bass guitar. He's been in music class and after class all the time getting his teacher to let him play his Fender P-bass. For Christmas we got him a Harley Benton JB75 with a Fender Rumble 15 amp to get him started and to practice on. He's been listening to bass players from all over the spectrum to soak them up, Lemmy, John Deacon, Roger Waters, yourself, Geezer Butler, etc. to listen to how a bass is played from different perspectives. When he listens to songs he's always able to pick out the bass lines first with anything, he's always had an ear for it. I'm very thankful you're here putting the music out there for younger players hungry to learn. Thanks again for all you're doing.
I think for someone who's played it hundreds of times, he may have a bit different view of the song & it's simplicity. But for me, this video was fascinating!
Mr Pratt its not often we get to pass on the huge thank you for the years of entertainment and enjoyment received from watching live performances from DVD or listening to albums recorded. So please accept a huge and hearty "thank you!" for your work and the joy its made in my life.
I think one of my favorite things I've ever seen you do is the "Famous Disco Basslines" thing... probably because it was stuff you obviously loved (as do I... Bernard was so good). But looking forward to the Toy Matinee stuff. Thanks for taking one for the team; at least it wasn't "Play some Skynyrd man... play something we can dance to" :)
I always loved, loved, LOVED the version of One of These Days that was played throughout 1994. Especially in shows where the middle part went on for longer, and more sound effects and whatnot were sprinkled in
Not sure if anyone’s said it yet but the ending lick on Learning to Fly (Pulse) and the intro lick on Sorrow (Pulse) are fantastic and always a blast to listen to.
Spaniel with a Head injury had me falling off my chair laughing. Brilliant. Loving these lock down licks. Have to say i enjoy your solos on the various tours.
Love your playing,Guy! Have done for soooo many years. Loved your dad’s acting too, back in the day....yes, I am that old! :) Cheers and keep up the great work!! Jim
Thank you so much Guy! You're really fun&lovely... remember when I've eared your Money's bass solo at Venice live in '89, I exclamed "OHH WOOWWW"!!! I think you're a very very great musician 😊😃
Dear Guy. At first when I was watching this video, I didn't even realize who you are. I just thought, wow, that guy is great 😅 But now I know who you are… Shame on me, I’m sorry, but I forgot your name and my English apparently isn‘t good enough 😅 Thanks for all your videos, your great live and studio performances in past. Keep going on! Cheers from a formerly bass player from Switzerland.
Maybe, the solo itself is not that exceptional as you may have intended, Guy, but within the context of the song, it's just PERFECT. And that's why people love it so much.
🙏🏻 Hola me encanta saber que solo tú llenaste el vacío que dejó la separación y siempre apoyaste a Nick y David solo albums...y que todavía hoy seas el bajista de ellos te hace parte de PINK FLOYD & i feel proud of you for that‼️ Por qué tú y tu estilo son únicos like PF‼️⚒
Just finished reading his book "My Bass and other Animals". Who knew that angelic faced kid was such a "Wild-Child"! It's been a very long time since I laughed out loud reading a book!
This is awesome! I wish these videos had been around 30 years ago when I spent a good portion of my spare time pressing 'rewind' and 'play' on my old VCR trying to learn this solo. Thanks for all these videos.
Despite its simplicity there's something about One of these days that sets my head rocking up and down. Hearing you mention Saucerful Of Secrets somehow led me to reading about Syd Barret. All I can say is Yikes.
Man great great hilarious video! Just what I (maybe we) needed. Funny, ranty, suntanned and still gives in and teaches the tunes people should be able learn on their own. Thank you so much.
You really make me laugh, which I a good thing right now 😁but I'm completely broke so I had to sell my guitar a while back. I have a chronic pancreatitis and really miss having a guitar. If anyone of u music people have a old guitar I would be eternally grateful. Stay strong beautiful people and remember that your government are lying to you....🤔👊💛💚💙❤💛💛💛💎
You are an amazing guy, Guy. I have been following your music since I have memories of Pink Floyd but other than that I really appreciate your talent and friendly character with people. I saw you live in Toronto 2016 and it was amazing your bass made the stadium tremble. Thanks again for your music!
Many thanks Guy, I've been a huge fan of you since 'Delicate Sound of Thunder' and spent hours transcribing your Money solo (not as many as Randy on Magnetic Ocean) or Jaco stuff.... You should be proud of that solo, they should never have cut it, I'm digging out my cassette which had it - I love that bass solo, a fantastic bass solo interpretation of a great tune. Thank you again - and your appreciation of the hard working folks on the front lines...hope to see you playing again soon.
I can't overstate how much I love these videos! As a total non-musician, it's fascinating for us to see *how* these songs are played, both with your techniques and the effects pedals. I also love your cheeky responses to the comments. Keep 'em coming!
I'm 66 and have always enjoyed Pink Floyd. Your bass playing is exquisite and a real joy to listen to over the years. it's obvious you enjoy music and life in general. Was always was curious about the signal processing you used on One of These Days, appreciate the detail you go into on these "Lock Down" videos! Keep on being you, Guy!!
All I can say about Guys Bass Playing is it’s fucking brilliant and fucking loud. Docklands Arena 1989 during Pink Floyd Momentary Lapse tour, One Of These Days was so ridiculously loud, I almost spewed. It was like getting booted in my gut.
Guy's videos are very educative, mostly because he is a nice bloke. I just try to imagine how positive and supportive everybody was in the band that powered those unforgettable tours...All great musicians, down to earth and funny. It must have been quite an experience to travel the world and do magic every night with the right people. Thanks for the memories Guy, I had the enormous privilege to see Pink Floyd in Mexico City two nights in April 1994. That was a dream come true and one of the magic happenings in my life...
Guy, you may not have given it much thought but, the reality is that you've spent more time playing bass in Pink Floyd than RW did. Without getting into a "versus" argument and as a longtime fan, that means something to me. So, congrats on that milestone and thank you for sharing your talent, thoughts and humor during these troublesome times. Cheers!
I am literally pi*sing myself,,,that was brilliant.Thank you Guy...PS..give me a shout out, I've worked full time since this covid thing...Literally emptying bins and picking up dog crap !!! I am living life on the edge....lol
I don't know if the like is for the "unbelievable sunny in Brighton", or the pure gold instruments he plays, or the way he explains or "genious is an idea rather then executions"... you know... all together, BTW one of the most and best effective music teachers ever watched.
After watching delicate sound of thunder way way back .. u guys on that show made we want to become a musician. Thx so much for ur contribution to years of enjoyment playing guitar..
Thanks Guy, These videos are really entertaining! and to be honest I am glad someone else names their instruments too, my 23-year-old fender acoustic (Summer) is soft and gentle, warm and sweet tone, and my black Epiphone has two names (Johnny or Cash) depending on the mood I'm in, more strummy and together on the stereo field they sound perfect! I digress! But as a kid in NZ with the Pulse VCR (in which I broke both the tape and VCR machine rewatching it 1000s of times) I would say you did a great job on Bass there and on Delicate sounds of Thunder, enjoyed watching this a lot, cheers! Peace!
Guy, been a big fan for a while. I've always loved and played music (mostly guitar), but never bass. Always wanted to just hadn't pulled the trigger.. These videos lit a fire and I finally brought home a bass and amp today. Thanks for the motivation and the entertainment, great videos!
Dear Guy, thank you for having your own channel, I would like to know if we can dream that one day you are with mr. David Gilmour release new album !? Thank you mr. Guy!
Got kids?Looking for wholesome entertainment for them?My missus, @GeorgiaByng , has done audio and video readings of her popular Molly Moon books for free! www.mollymoonsworld.com/georgiabyng-reads-mollymoon/
you’re simply amazing, Guy! love to listen to you playing the bass, you’re such a magnificent bassist, please continue recording videos like this for your channel!!!
I thought this was the upload that Guy actually does get angry because people had requested he play a particular Pink Floyd song that's so simple , that honestly anyone can do it , but I'll just have to keep searching until I find it... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... .....
When I was a teen I always loved listening to One of These Days from Delicate Sound of Thunder. That was always my favorite version, sincerely! Cheers mate!
Can’t believe he is the same person from the legendary Pink Floyd performances, namely Pulse, Delicate sound of thunder. Feels unreal! Hats off sir!!
“A spaniel with a head injury could play that” ... love the honesty. Refreshing... and so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for making it fun Guy.
That's why Roger Waters wrote "Dogs" : he sang about his spaniel skills.
Watching you and Leland Sklar has been the highlight of my quarantined existence.
That tremolo bass part to 'One Of These Days'' was awesome. I could see the projection of those hypnotic yellow circles and red lights in my mind as you played it!

😂 oh come on, "one of these days" might be simple to play, but the bass bit on its own is genuinely incredibly enjoyable!
I think for someone who's played it hundreds of times, he may have a bit different view of the song & it's simplicity. But for me, this video was fascinating!
I think it that feeling changes after 100 shows...
That’s what I said!
@@guypratt7104 : Heart of the Sunrise = One of these days w.o. delay?
"I'm not really good at any of them" referring to his own solos - a vast, vast understatement my friend!!
Mr Pratt its not often we get to pass on the huge thank you for the years of entertainment and enjoyment received from watching live performances from DVD or listening to albums recorded. So please accept a huge and hearty "thank you!" for your work and the joy its made in my life.
Humorously condescending, yet still gives you the answers… for free! What a champ! 5 stars!
I think one of my favorite things I've ever seen you do is the "Famous Disco Basslines" thing... probably because it was stuff you obviously loved (as do I... Bernard was so good). To be honest I think your solo on Money is some of the greatest bass playing ever, thanks, Guy 🤘👽🤘
Maybe did he played faster than D.Gilmour?
I always loved, loved, LOVED the version of One of These Days that was played throughout 1994. Especially in shows where the middle part went on for longer, and more sound effects and whatnot were sprinkled in
Not sure if anyone’s said it yet but the ending lick on Learning to Fly (Pulse) and the intro lick on Sorrow (Pulse) are fantastic and always a blast to listen to.
I did it. Ep 2.
So today I learned that a spaniel with a head injury is more musical than I am.
What a time to be alive.
Guy, just want to say you were a huge influence on my playing and you are one of the best bassists out there!
Absolutely love everything about this! Don't do yourself down Guy, this is a legendary part and only you can play it like this!!
The money solo is simply stunning. Thank you!!!
Damn these videos hit hard 3 years later.
Spaniel with a Head injury had me falling off my chair laughing. Brilliant. Loving these lock down licks. Have to say i enjoy your solos on the various tours.
loving these Guy, keep em up if you can. Thanks for uplifting us musicians....
Hi Guy . You're a freaking legend. We love ya
I don't even play bass. Just simply and genuinely enjoying listening to you talking about it.
Love your playing,Guy! Have done for soooo many years. Loved your dad’s acting too, back in the day....yes, I am that old! :) Cheers and keep up the great work!! Jim

LOL you're the greatest and funniest bass player in the universe!!!
I think my heart broke that moment he says he dont like Precisions while having this beauty on his leg.
Maybe, the solo itself is not that exceptional as you may have intended, Guy, but within the context of the song, it's just PERFECT. And that's why people love it so much.
Love these videos! Leland Sklar has been doing pretty much the same. Bass heaven!!
Never thought I'd see an intimate performance of these in my lifetime. The enigma of 80's Floyd has finally been unveiled!
Just finished reading his book "My Bass and other Animals". Who knew that angelic faced kid was such a "Wild-Child"! It's been a very long time since I laughed out loud reading a book!
You make me smile. Great humor. Thanks
Thanks man! You are the reason why I started playing the bass.
This is awesome! I wish these videos had been around 30 years ago when I spent a good portion of my spare time pressing 'rewind' and 'play' on my old VCR trying to learn this solo. Thanks for all these videos.
i could listen you for hours Guy so much fun to listen to such a master at your craft cheers !
Despite its simplicity there's something about One of these days that sets my head rocking up and down. Hearing you mention Saucerful Of Secrets somehow led me to reading about Syd Barret. All I can say is Yikes.
I named my son Barrett. Syd's story is so heart breaking. My son is 30 now. Even after all these years, that story breaks my heart.
My Spaniel was absolutely stinking up the room with his bass line cover of Comfortably Numb. So I hit him up side the head. Viola! Who knew?
Iconic! You are an amazing artist and glad to have this opportunity to have a bit more detail on these favorites...
Man great great hilarious video! Just what I (maybe we) needed. Funny, ranty, suntanned and still gives in and teaches the tunes people should be able learn on their own. Thank you so much.
I saw the Division Bell tour when I was eight, in Chicago. One Of These Days scared the crap out of me with the terror pigs.
You really make me laugh, which I a good thing right now 😁but I'm completely broke so I had to sell my guitar a while back. I have a chronic pancreatitis and really miss having a guitar. Thanks again for your music!
Great Guy, this solo is one of the indelible things about that great concert !!!
I clearly need some delay and tremelo effects to add some fun to simple basslines. Thanks Guy! I loved seeing you on Pulse.
The one thing missing from the bass line that was only heard on the album, was David Gilmores bassline.
If my old music teacher was like this I’d probably be able to play something by now , never mind this guy is the GOAT
Just love hearing the bass. So glad to find your channel. Loving your book too. Thanks so much.
Love his british humor
''couldn't be fucked to learn it again''.
Story of my life.
This man is the reason I play bass. Thanks for the music Guy.
The man is the reason I am learning bass... One of my favorite bass players!

Oh look Guy Pratts RUclips channel. Subscribed.
"I can't play bass solos cos I'm not good at them" - then proceeds to play a really good bass solo.
I can't overstate how much I love these videos! As a total non-musician, it's fascinating for us to see *how* these songs are played, both with your techniques and the effects pedals. I also love your cheeky responses to the comments. Keep 'em coming!
I am melting over the overt sarcasm throughout this video. This is so much fun!
I love this Guy! :-)
Guy, no entiendo muy bien el inglés pero quiero que sepas que aún así me encanta ver tus vídeos, eres un máster! Cuidate muchísimo! Saludos!!!
I'm 66 and have always enjoyed Pink Floyd. Your bass playing is exquisite and a real joy to listen to over the years. it's obvious you enjoy music and life in general. Your music related videos are the best most enjoyable things I have watched since this whole lockdown thing.. wonderful..

Great Musician with a great sense of Humor! Love it! Your personality and obviously your chops!
never knew Dennis Hopper could play the bass
joe pesci
Bassilicious indeed. 💜
Guy Pratt, you are one of those thing that make these hard times stronger to live.
Sir, you are so funny! I just love your overall vibe and personality besides the exceptional talent, of course.
Thank you so much for this.
I am that Spaniel with a head injury!
Hey man, you are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite Guy. Thank you for the fun bass moments. Stay safe, Love! 💕 🤫
After watching delicate sound of thunder way way back .. u guys on that show made we want to become a musician. Thx so much for ur contribution to years of enjoyment playing guitar..
I love the Pulse version of Money! I have all the new caviar!
Can I have any?
Thanks for the Comfortably Numb lesson by the way
Thanks Guy, These videos are really entertaining! and to be honest I am glad someone else names their instruments too, my 23-year-old fender acoustic (Summer) is soft and gentle, warm and sweet tone, and my black Epiphone has two names (Johnny or Cash) depending on the mood I'm in, more strummy and together on the stereo field they sound perfect! So why were your bass solos cut from the Later Years?
Word is Spaniels with head injuries are very keen on the song Dogs...
Thank you Guy, for me is a plasure to repeat and learn your "Great Solo" after year !
Ciao from Italy !!!
Marco
Guy, been a big fan for a while. I've always loved and played music (mostly guitar), but never bass. Always wanted to just hadn't pulled the trigger.. These videos lit a fire and I finally brought home a bass and amp today. Thanks for the motivation and the entertainment, great videos!
Tabs?!!
Just kidding, lol
Guy Pratt has turned into Bill Bailey?
'A Spaniel wih a head injury...' LMFAO! I love it Guy. Thank you for showcasing these and I am looking forward to all of the Non-Pink Floyd stuff.
Dear Guy, thank you for having your own channel, I would like to know if we can dream that one day you are with mr. David Gilmour release new album !? Thank you mr. Guy!
That is not a bass, that is THE bass. The one that he used for delicate sound of thunder
Got kids?Looking for wholesome entertainment for them?My missus, @GeorgiaByng , has done audio and video readings of her popular Molly Moon books for free!

@Guy Pratt I lost my shit with "A spaniel with a head injury".
Always a guaranteed laugh. Some certainty in these strange times is appreciated. Thanks heaps Guy.
When I was a teen I always loved listening to One of These Days from Delicate Sound of Thunder. That was always my favorite version, sincerely! Cheers mate!
I don't get why they cut those solos out. I like them, I miss them.
This means maybe you saw my video of the solo too, OMG
Guy, I absolutely love the bass line from Sorrow. The bass is so industrial and powerful... It is one of my all time favorite. Thanks you!
Legend. One of the reasons that l started bass, thank you Guy.
1:25 i think every bassist can relate to this lmao
