The United States Navy (USN) is developing a new, high-performance stealth aircraft - the P8 Poseidon. The USN plans to operate the aircraft from its carrier fleet for both intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), as well as for carrying out missions in hostile environments. The new aircraft has a flight range of over 6,000 nautical miles with an endurance of up to 12 hours at a height of 20K feet. The aircraft is also capable of carrying out missions with a range of over 1,500 miles and a payload capacity of up to 5,000 pounds.

¿333 Km/h? una Velocidad baja... demasiado alta. ¿4 hs. en estación? Mmmmm... muy pocas ¿y cuando descienda a muy bajas altitudes? el 737 es un buen avión, como todos los aviones lo son, pero un patrullero no necesita volar alto ni rápido... y "aguantar" (por lo menos 6 u 8 hs) Por éso es muy complicado compararlo con un P3 Orión, que hace "todo bien" en su trabajo. Confiable, resistente, seguro, además de "económico" y "barato" y aunque sus días de gloria están por llegar a su final, en algunos países pueden seguir dando mucho más.
