- I accelerate hard when getting on the highway, I thought I busted the Kickdown cable, This video shows how I replaced the cable and some of the steps I had to take. Not all of the terms I say are correct, please forgive me! This truck is now back together and ready to hit the trails!!!
Just came across your video mate, as I'm about to install a ZF 4HP22 on my Defender with TD5 and going for the mechanical version (Don't need to add more electronics) so I'm looking for ideas how to connect the kick down cable to my fly by wire accelerator pedal. Most probably I need to replace the cable to a longer one to reach. Good video indeed.
just broke my kick down cable on my 95 25th Anniversary Edition....so thanks for posting this video. very informative didn't want to go at it blind. nice truck brother. I have a 99 discovery 2 inch lift with 33s .love land rovers
Thank you, the cable on my 1985 735i bmw is broken on the plastic peice like yours was, and also kept popping off... Now I see the spring rotation to keep tension on the cable is what I was missing, THANK YOU... This bmw uses the same ZF4HP22 transmission. Thanks man!

Thanks for posting this. I'm about to replace my valve assembly in my ZF. I had one that was given to me new in box during a purchase of engine and transmission and I need to service my trans as it's slow to shift from reverse to drive when cold. I have the assembly so I might as well put it in. I'm hoping my clutches and bearings in the trans are still good. If this don't solve it I'll just save for an ashcroft trans. :)

No problem! Make sure you double check. The kick-down cable is a cheap easy fix for a weekend project.
