    The only thing I find a bit doubtful about the job is the total absence of a rear mudguard. You'll probably get a nice sunk stripe painted on your back whenever streets are wet and murky.
    Except for that, it's an absolute beauty and the sound is lovely as well. The latter confirms my long-held opinion that a silencer helps making the sound more characterful than open pipes.

      Totally agree, great looking bike now but I look at the missing rear mudguard as a balance to the styling, not from a practical point of view. I just think completely chopped rear ends make the bike look unfinished and unbalanced….. imho 😀

      No one wants to do any work anymore.
      I've had the same results with custom paint shops.
      Most never respond to your enquiries and the few that do they just say "sorry, we're stacked out for the next 12 months". They treat potential customers like absolute garbage.
      Seems to me, if you want to make some money and have a job for life, train to be an airbrush artist or bike customiser.
      It's not particularly skilled work, especially if the paintwork is just masking and stripes.

      @@fyorbane it is a skill I agree.
      But I also believe it’s a skill that most people can learn to a decent level within a 6 month period. From my own experience, it took travelling to 4 different so called ‘specialist’ paint shops to find one who actually painted what I wanted. And even then it wasn’t 100% to the standard I’d expect from someone who does it for a living.

  • @jonathanevans1305
    @jonathanevans1305 3 года назад +10

    Everything about customised bikes is intensely personal, so the most important thing about it is that you’re happy with it. Having said that, you invited comment on what people think you did right or wrong. So in my humble opinion, I love nearly everything about it. Great looking colour scheme, pipes sound fantastic, and all the touches like hiding the cables get a 👍🏻. The bit I don’t like is the rear. I think I t’s too short, both aesthetically and practically. I think it would have a more balanced look if the rear mudguard extended a little more beyond the saddle. At the minute, the bike just stops and it looks like something is missing as all the “bulk” is up front. You’re also going to get a lot of shite sprayed up the back of your jacket with no mudguard. The clue’s in the name 😂. I’ll be interested to see your experience of knobbly tyres as well. A mate of mine had a BMW R9T with knobbly tyres. He hated them because of a lack of grip and other handling problems on the road. Other than that, great job. Hope you’re happy with it, and it gives you many hours of enjoyment, both visually, and riding it

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  3 года назад +3

      Yes I did ask for a mudguard - that’s one of the changes I’d like - there are a number of things about the bike I’m not keen on - it’s 90% there….some more tweaks required. The nobblies on the R9T were awful! Luckily these feel and sound no different to road tyres….

    • @G58
      @G58 3 года назад +3

      Really? Can you imagine how inconvenient and impractical, and potentially dangerous those ridiculous side numberplates actually are in use?
      The only reason for doing that is to pander to the other obsessive fad of ‘losing the rear end’! Why? Why pretend you’ve got the type of bike we all rode around fields as kids? This thing is much more that just impartial, it’s actually worse than useless - like most so called custom bikes today.

      They certainly saw TMF coming with this one. And those other guys that had the bike for months but said they could no longer do it, they missed out on an easy payday.
      And both blamed Covid! How can a respiratory disease that affects a tiny fraction of the population, stop a bloke from taking a hacksaw to a necessary part of a bike, and bolting on a few Chinese parts? It’s all nonsense. The truth is that they most likely accepted government compensation instead of trading.
      This last 18 months or so has taught us a great deal about the masses. They don’t think beyond their own self interest, and are ready to believe and acquiesce to any level of draconian measures and tyranny.
      This bike should be called the Vaxxtracker…!

    Awesome mate. Man after my own heart. I’m looking at an RE or a Bonnie or something but always wanted to custom paint it. I’ve got a 69 Triumph Spitfire that’s BRG and brown hood and interior - always wanted to get that look on a bike and you’ve practically done it yourself there :) I’d got for a slightly darker brown when I get to it but nevertheless yours looks awesome and I really like the gold which I’d never thought of before. Part of me wants to stick with a triumph because I love the idea of a triumph car next to a triumph bike (even though they’re diff brands of course) but the REs are tempting me away from that - not just due to £££ either. Great stuff mate and happy riding 🥳

    It looks and sounds amazing. The gold wheels and the paint job looks the business. And the overall styling is spot on.

    What a transformation. I have to be honest when you said nobly tyres and that I thought “I’m not going to like this”. How wrong I was. Beautiful.

    Hi Andy, absolutely love the spec. I actually take my bike for an MOT there and happened come across a beautiful green Enfield which the chaps kindly showed me and had no idea at the time it was yours. When i came home i started to think… this must be Andys as he is having his interceptor done and it only clicked that it was yours when he told me the paint was a green off some aircraft i believe so i thought it must definitely be TMFs! Congrats!

    Lovely, it's easy to go wrong on this type of thing but you've pulled it off. I'm sure it'll draw the eye everytime you enter the garage.

    Your own custom. An absolute thrill. The bike is just how you want it, so can't be anything other than utter perfection for you.
    An idea for a follow up piece might be suppliers and cost breakdown for those who would follow in your foot steps.

    Definitely a beautiful result. I had similar patterned tyres on a mountain bike and spent many a happy hour arguing with people who thought the front tyre was on babackwards! Best thing is the lack of the noise that you get from knobblies which can make a bike sound like an army landrover.

      Yes I thought I might get some whirring or whizzing noises off the tyres but they sound (and feel) fine....

      Wondering what they might be like in the rain? I just had my Mot this morning on the BMW and had the service done about a month ago. Tipped down both times. Never escape the rain in the UK.
