Bro I've watched this video like once or twice a year for 4 or 5 years and it has never disappointed me yet. Still incredible. You probably could've set a record at the olympics with that one lol. Gives a totally new meaning to GO BIG or go home.
I did that jump in the 70s when it was actually a full lip jump. Landed in about the same place but maybe 10' higher. Never more scared in my life. My ski bud was up there for the first time. He was a Mt Baldy ski patrol guy who'd never skiied Mammoth. Watched a bunch of people do the same thing. Streak, launch and land. He looks at me from 1/2 way up Cornice and says, PUSSIES. Then takes off, went straight to and proceeded to do a perfect layout back flip off it. OMG. Respect.
I've been trying to find this video for years!! Thank you RUclips for recommending this. I hope you gave your friend a beer after this incredible jump!
That often goes badly for many upon losing their composure midair. I think that even surprised the person sending it. I had a similar experience once when I hit a drop without speed checking and it was right under a lift. I missed the transition and landed out on the flat and wiped out hard. I got lots of applause and some hate from the people wearing goofy ski hats.
So, I remember the time some guy come backside out of Patrolman's out of control like that and T-boned me. Left me unconscious for ten minutes. I knew the Patroller who got to me, he worked my shack. He walked me to my car, made sure I was OK. Turns out I had a concussion, I figured that out later. Big air is fine, but I noticed the skier at the run out who had no idea what was coming at him. If I was working on the hill...I would've clipped the dudes ticket. You bump skulls that fast...somebody's gonna get hurt or dead.
A demonstration of a ridiculous set of cojones and impeccable technique. I tried doing 25% of this jump at Snowbird last year and cracked my helmet and got concussed. I need to go change my chonies now.
Who was this? What’s his name? Legendary! That’s the best Hair Jump send I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been skiing over it for 13 years, every weekend. Absolutely amazing!
Yeah held the tuck for a little bit then started rolling down the windows. Hey, if that's the Hahnenkamm there are only about eight more of those before you're down. Mad props to world cup downhillers...
I have no idea why I'm watching this but what a legend. At no point was there anything less than full throttle. Mad respect.
That was beyond full throttle. That was like 110% throttle.
You're watching this because it's fucking epic.

I would say "Go die or go home"
"You probably could've set a record at the olympics with that one"
Source: trust me bro
Which Olympic event?
The “Hold my beer” big air

Classic Baldy skier. Overrun with Jerries now.
I did the exact same thing in the exact same place, December 1978. Did not stick the landing. Broke my left thumb.
Holy shit man!!! EPIC!👍👍👍💛🔥
It's still taking sacrifices to this day
wow! that is sick!
That was massive... RESPECT for holding on mid air and managing to stick the landing... Lesser men would have bailed!!!
Did you mean to go that big??
I love how he starts flapping his arm like a little bird :)
Hahahahahahahahaha
He's rolling up the windows! Too much draft.
I don’t ski but that was a thing of beauty to watch 👍🏻😎
Dude, that’s not for effect. He has to keep doing that to stay upright! He wanted to land on his skis, not his face. And it worked!
That looks SO fun, I love cruising and flying over rollers but you just took that shit to a whole new level!
WTF?! he just bombed the hill and lauched like 100ft and landed like a boss. how the hell did he just land that!?!?!
Awesome, like the full tuck, bomb the ramp, approach. you meant business! I remember hitting hair jump way back in 1973, incredible.
I've been trying to find this video for years!! Thank you RUclips for recommending this. I hope you gave your friend a beer after this incredible jump!
Flying over rollers, so fun :) That was a huge take, haha awesome!
If you land 20 feet further that hurts a lot 8)!

We don’t care …
@@cobycolbertson No, you don't care. And not even that, you cared enough to comment. It's a cool story, maybe overthink your attitude.
I never really understood those people with the goofy hats
That’s the definition of full send
Insane. I live in mammoth and have never seen anyone send hare jump that big. Nuts!
STOMPED LANDING. 10/10
he totally meant to go that far 100 gnar points.
This is my fav skiing videos on the internet. Ian Mcintosh has nothing on this straight up send lol
Balls of steel!!! Huge dude, keep it up!
It looked like somebody turned gravity off for a second there. Much respect, that was insane.
At takeoff I thought I was about to witness death. Amazing to stick that.
Awesome landing!
That was HUGE! Man that guys a Legend
This is one of those videos you don't watch just once. You go "wtf just happened there" and you play it again, usually many times
That was a good jump👍
It was good that he instrinctively maintained his landing posture. This guy aint stupid.
The definition of "full send"
Mach 7 no let up what so ever! Full commitment baby! 👍
HOLY SHIT OMG. nothing more to say.. epic jump
That was impressive.
This defines ski dad sending it for the kids energy
It's all about the sound dude makes when he realizes the size of the dropout. Absolute legend. (OOOHHHH!)
Pro as hell
You're so good! I don't even have the balls to jump around in a snowpark...
Amazing
This is what ski jumping should be in competition, a literal cloud of snow following his tracks from how fast he was moving
Holy shit is right , that was wild lol
Back in the early seventies at Solitude and Snowbird Ski Resorts in Utah we used to have competitions call the Gelande ski jump. Same thing.
The king of sending right here
The armswinging mid-air is so wholesome
He almost could have rode that out!!! So close, and bad ass! Full send, vapor trails!
Quite amazing, best Holy Shit I've ever heard, Your mid-air WHOA is pretty cool, awesome jump bro!!!
Legend!!
Total send… sticks landing… legendary
Hair or Hare has been the argument since the 60’s!
Jerry of the Day nominee!
Got hurt on that jump at least 25 years ago, may have gotten 20 feet. Great job, stresses me out watching it though.
deffinitly thought he was gonna fall, that was bad ass

THIS IS AWSOME
at first i was like wtf is this then i was like OHH MY GOD! good job man! when can we see another hit?
Hot Damn he stuck the landing!
haha he held it together quite well
This should be viral!
We were all pole whacking at the top, gnar points out the wahzoo for that fool.
Like a BOSS.
Live there , and I have to say that's probably the biggest air on hair jump I've seen
We used to hit Hair Jump alot when we were kids in the 80s, but never like that!
Legend
Man, had he not landed on his feet first I would’ve nominated this for Jerry of the Day!
still watching in 2021 lol
God damn this 0:17 laugh reminds me of a childhood friend....good shit gentleman
Wow....
Nice big Hair
Sick!! How many meters?
that was sick af
I hope he has his pilot's license. He was up there so long he had time to serve peanuts.
wow !
mad man sent it all the way :D
Big big jump!!! Powa!!!
There are levels to everything 👊
Madman!!
He got some distance!
Winter Olympics! SKI JUMP! candidate. 👍
Legend says the snow vaporized at the takeoff...
Holy balls, dude.
Lepiej niż Kruczek w czasach świetności
Truer words never spoke.
he must have been airborne for more than 40 meters geez
cool story bro!
damn dood, you were haulin ass!
Great jump, would love to try that
Massive!
Oh yeah, The Fetal Position jump. I've done that...but landed differently.
I used to live at mammoth mountain and trust me, I bet that was way bigger in real life. Amazing
@Cam-Did you work at Gio's & Sushi Rei(and Convict boat dock)? That's the only Cameron that I knew.
hell he was closing the damn windows pretty quickly right at the end haha
good hell. that's insane
that is biger than my resorts big air haha so imbarising but sick at the same time!!!!!
He was lucky to land in a slope at least :)
You can see the instantaneous “oh I didn’t fully think this out”
I don't see that any where in this video
I think you rolled down all of my windows and I'm here on the other coast.
When redbull likes it, it's pretty good
absolute SEND

The wave can fuck you up that way
i did 15m but landed on straight and just faceplanted hutr my arm lol, so the next sunday i finally broke my clavicle
No se lo cree ni él¡¡¡¡q suerte ha tenido de que el cuerpo a esa velocidad no se desequilibre¡¡En definitiva, UN PEAZO SALTO¡¡
Look at the huge acceleration ge gets when he lands, looks funny!
He didn't. The highest acceleration would be mid-air during the free fall, before the friction of the ground came into play.
Who was this? What’s his name? Legendary! That’s the best Hair Jump send I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been skiing over it for 13 years, every weekend. Absolutely amazing!
it litterally says in the discription pfffffff
Yeah held the tuck for a little bit then started rolling down the windows. Hey, if that's the Hahnenkamm there are only about eight more of those before you're down. Mad props to world cup downhillers...
hats off
Good Nuff 4 RedBull Awesome 4 everybody else! :)
Such a hopeless feeling when you get massive air without jumping or meaning to
He hit the afterburners at the right time
