Why isn't the whole movie about Dynamo? Who wouldn't want to watch a huge fat opera singing guy dressed in LED lightbulbs shooting lightning bolts and doing... Well, anything? Who wouldn't watch that movie, WHO WOULDN'T WATCH IT?
He is singing: "Quest'anima consola, e giubilar mi fa". Means "Consoles this soul, and makes me rejoice". (In opera, reason for this rejoice is hopes of revenges).
I was nine years old in 1989 when I have first seen the movie and since then this scene seemed special to me. Right now I have been listening to this for 15 minutes on yourepeat and I think I'll continue to do so for another 30. :) Erland Van Lidth De Jeude was glorious!🙂
I'm used to seeing other actors just pretending to sing opera in movies. Here it's easy to see that Erland is the real deal, and it adds so much charisma to the character!
wasn't he studying at MIT in computer science? This guy was like fucking made for this part. A pro wrestler who sings Baritone Opera and studies at MIT then he died after this movie. :(
This is the most epic fight intro ever. Opera made it so badass. It was great because the guy was actually a legit opera singer, and if I'm not mistaken, it was his idea to use the operatic opening. Bravo and RIP.
Erland van lidth de jeude died so young at the age of 34 for his last final movie "the running man" (1987). I like him when he play with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder in "stir crazy" ( 1980).
I looked him up on IMDB. His name's Erland Van Lindth. He was a pro wrestler who competed in the Olympics, attended MIT, and was an accomplished opera-singer. He died in 1987, the same year this movie was released.
I had no idea until tonight he died just a couple months before the movie was released. I remember thinking at the time he loomed sick or tired or something. Now I know why. RIP

thats right... he was in some good movies even comedy with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. jeje... great voice, he died by a heart attack. Sorry my english :)
I'm not sure why the person who posted this left the description so vague; He's singing the end of Count Almaviva's aria from Act III, Scene IV: "Hai gia vinta la causa... Vedro mentr'io sospiro"
blackfrancis75 Oh, you're welcome! I just watched the film today and found it interesting that there was an excerpt from one of my favorite Mozart operas. I couldn't remember what the scene number or the full title was so I did a little research and turned up the missing information. Thanks for posting this.
Jehosaphat Stevens Imagine my surprise, having watched this movie avidly throughout my teenage years, and thinking it was a song made up for the movie, then suddenly hearing the soloist belt it out it while I was at a Mozart Opera with my wife in my 30s..
blackfrancis75 Yeah, the same happened with me, and it was a real pleasing sensation to 1) hear a piece of music that you loved; and 2) figure out the roots of it and its connection to a movie you like. Though, in "the running man" this piece is played on synthesizers and modified a bit. Therefore I wanted to confirm.

they made that movie. It was called the Running man.
+seal1 The point is that the ENTIRE movie could be about Dynamo.
@@jeffw1267, he knows that, he was just playing with it.
You can catch Erland in a number of films: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erland_Van_Lidth_De_Jeude
Yo this was lizzo at the grammys
Never has such a violent man had such a beautiful voice.
You have clearly never seen The Phantom of the Opera.
Out of all the stalkers, Dynamo steals the show.
Him and Ventura's Captain Freedom.
Mozart looking down from heaven: "Finally, someone got it right."
Nope.
He had actually performed this aria on stage before. I wish there existed a recording of it somewhere. No one sings it with the tempo he does.
What is the name of this song?
@@moonrakertv5 you have it in description of the video
YOU ARE VERY VERY RIGHT .

So sad he died of heart failure only a few months after the film was completed. RIP Erland Van Lidth De Jeude AKA Dynamo
Oh - I thought it was Kim Dotcom for a minute, but the movie is too old.
He had a powerful voice
Monroe lol

He scared me back then. The thought of some huge man who can electrocute you with his arms was terrifying.
I also thought he was a cyborg back then.
I'm used to seeing other actors just pretending to sing opera in movies. Here it's easy to see that Erland is the real deal, and it adds so much charisma to the character!
Dynamo was fantastic! What villain introduces himself to opera? That's the best.
The only other I can think of is Siegfried from "Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple".
Dynamo deserved a better ending than what he got in the movie.
Yes that ending was shockingly bad.
He was playing a monster who ended up trying to rape Amber.
Hey silly. He was a rapist and murdered. Watch the movie
That's why I said he deserved a better ending... One where he doesn't try to rape anybody.
I'd say his ending was climatic.
The Marriage of Figaro will never be the same again :)
Geppetto's cat?
@@suggiethames9870 He's a character from two classic operas, you uncultured swine!
As stated in the summary:
The Opera piece he sings is from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, the Aria from Act III.
It took me 8 years to work it out ;)
Haha , I'm watching Le nozze di Figaro right now and I remembered suddenly this scene from the running man that's why I'm here 😁
Took me 12 years to find the answer you provided!
Whatever aria this is, this was always the „Tubila“ song for me 😁
It's my understanding that after the actor was cast they learned he was a gifted opera singer and decided to include that in the film.
I listened to some other versions of this, Dynamo blows them all away it's not even close, such a tragic end RIP Dynamo
wasn't he studying at MIT in computer science? This guy was like fucking made for this part. A pro wrestler who sings Baritone Opera and studies at MIT then he died after this movie. :(

@marko5280 Erland van Lidth who played the role of Dynamo was actually a world-class greco roman wrestler and an opera singer.
Dynamo always gave an electrifying performance. *sees self out the room*
CrystaJoy literally electrifying 😂
That joke is just shocking
All hail the mighty and glorious Dynamo!!!
R.I.P Erland Van Lidth De Jeude.
Hes German?
The Wanderers first movie from Erland van Lidth

Dynamo rocked!
Killian is LYING to you Ben!
we need shows like this on TV!!!
Dynamo seems to be part of the stereotype that being overweight can help when singing opera, in this movie, it added a comedic element to the chase
The aria's title is "Vedro mentr'io sospiro", to be exact.
I looked him up on IMDB. His name's Erland Van Lindth. He was a pro wrestler who competed in the Olympics, attended MIT, and was an accomplished opera-singer. He died in 1987, the same year this movie was released.
Classically trained opera singer as an attacker I love it
He was great in Stir Crazy, beautiful voice!
dude! He can shoot bolts of lightening from his hands!
My favorite Hunter. I liked his line later: "Come to me, my love." Chilling.
I played this at my wedding.
the original movie, the original song, or this clip?
+Don'tcallmeshirley Nope
no that's the guy from stir crazy (grossberger) who sensationally sang Birmingham jail the best version i have heard in my opinion
That's a shame; he was one of my favorite characters in the film.
Hey lighthead, hey Christmas tree
This is how Mozart would have wanted his music played by a bloke in a suit with led lights and a mohican
In this case the actor was also a trained opera baritone. That's him singing in the clip.
I had no idea until tonight he died just a couple months before the movie was released. I remember thinking at the time he loomed sick or tired or something. Now I know why. RIP
quest'anima consola
e giubilar mi fa!!
Give this guy a Grammy
Who in their right minds wouldn't clap during this scene?!
Dynamo is my favourite Stalker from Running Man
I wish they'd have Dynamo as a DLC character on Mortal Kombat 11....
I like the idea, that would just be Raiden skin ;)
And Arnold as Terminator to once again throw in one of his lines when facing/defeating him:
‘Hasta La Vista, Christmas Tree’.
Electrical engineering at its finest.
I would like a full dynamo compilation
im at a loss of words....its just so good
dynamo's so freaking hilarious... i cracked so many times while he was there xD
but the electric attacks are fugg'n EPIC though!
Looks like they all love dynamo
He has force lighting! :)
The light!! It BUUUUUURNS!!!!!!!

Yeah it was a real shock.
Bravo! Bravo! Encore!! *Claps*
Oxblood was played by Peter Bray, not Erland Van Lidthe.
Heart Failure
I have one of those tennis racket bug zappers and sing this while zapping flys and spiders
Underrated as a thug, go with peace sweet Erland.
Cause when I think post-apocalyptic death matches, I think Mozart-singing cyber centurions.
That's neat!😁
I would love to. My greatest wish.
Dynamo reminds me of mr bumble from oliver 1968 movie
lmao i need a repeat button for this LOL

HEY LIGHT HEAD, HEY CHRISTAMAS TREE
I remember Seeing this at the drive in theatre as a kid in the Back seat of the car laughing
"HEY, CHRISTMAS TREE" epic
so sad that the actor died just shortly after finishing the movie.
I just found out about it, he could have been a legendary opera singer if he didn't pass away so young
When I think of Running Man, I think of Dynamo.
Where's the clap button? i don't see it!!!!!!!
If Terror could do that there'd be no Wanderers.

The best memorial host for family feud? Our survey says: Richard Dawson

Yeah, yours is much better than mine.
@meijergrape thanks for that
Who's the better opera singer: Dynamo or Buzzsaw?
Hey Christmas Tree!
dynamo 2024
Not me. I was finally able to breathe a little. I liked Dynamo best of all! I think he was the most orginal of the stalkers.
