Thanks for watching all. There are probably loads of great Wah riffs that I've missed. If you have any suggestions of any other good wah riffs, please leave them in a comment below. Might be good for anyone else who is looking for ideas too.
Kudos for getting a deep cut from Hendrix to make the list, although I believe Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is the ultimate wah song, if not the one which sums up what the electric guitar is all about
I was surprised that Hawkwind was listed here! Yeah they are still underrated for me. I think Tales of Brave Ulysses by Cream Too Rolling Stoned by Robin Trower Maggot Brain by Funkadelic Elephant Stone by The Stone Roses are another epic songs with Wah pedal.
Maggot Brain is just a masterpiece, I don’t even listen to Funkadelic at all, but when I listened to that song, I felt so many things at the same time, that guitar player was great, he played a depressing Jimi Hendrix solo
Yeah, not in it's "normal" use though. He doesn't move it, just leaves it at a fixed position. Another cool wah wah sound that is not recognizable as wah wah is the "seagull" sound in the beginning of the second part of Echoes by Pink Floyd. I've read in an interview with David Gilmour that he plugged the cables in the wrong way (by mistake) and discovered that sound.
Two songs which use Wah but are very simple (I think) would probably be Mysterious Ways by U2 and I-94 by Radio Birdman. They always get stuck in my head whenever I listen to them
I've got to be honest, I only know that song of theirs and another that the singer Deniz Tek did with James Williamson from the Stooges two years ago called Jet Pack Nightmare, but I'd recommend both songs strongly
The intro of led zeppelin - how many more times (live on denmark radio) is a cool one too for anyone that´s interested. Btw it´s based on howlin wolf´s smokestack lightin.
Thumbs up for video time stamps in the details, and especially for doing more than a few seconds of each riff (unlike most other RUclipsrs) . Still miss your full songs though.
I thought it was a bit obvious. Also, I can't play it very well. I don't think anyone gets anywhere near the original except the RUclipsr Pilky if you've ever seen his version.
Great list, would probably add Walkabout by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (from the One Hot Minute album with Dave Navarro on guitar), Never Gonna Let You Go by Keziah Jones and the wah wah playing of Peter Tosh in general (check out a live version of "African", great wah wah break at the end of the song)
Great video, i love wah effect in these songs! Also recommend the album "In Reality" by Them. I really like the version of "gloria" and some other songs in this album.
Not sure if he fits the exact criteria for this video, in that I can't think of many examples of him using the wah in the most blatantly obvious trad sense, but as a half-cocked wah was the base sound of Mick Ronson's distinctly piercing nasally snarl on many a Bowie track , he deffo rates a mention imho.
Such a varied list, not at all half-cocked (except for Money For Nothing, obvs) ... But where TF did Hawkwind come from?????? That was such an left-field choice, but a pleasant surprise too.
Cool video and always amazing, i Just came back from a Bax music store and now i know which guitar to play. I got a Fender jaguar inspired to get by you :)
just a reminder none of you are alone ! God is with you all and he will never leave you . you are loved and accepted by him and that will never change . God bless you all
Don't know if you like metal but there's this band that was called snot who uses a bunch of wah pedal riff, I'd recommend listening to "stoopid" or "my balls" by them
Was there a different chain order for the different songs? I been playing for 20 some years and only just bought a wah today...(to be more creative), so please forgive my ignorance internet.
I was playing through a Cry Baby Wah into a Boss Katana Mk50 for all. The distortion and other effects came from the amp. I've been told the Wah sounded too trebley, so I don't know whether distortion should go before or after Wah. I may get an expression pedal for the amp and use the wah effect that way instead.
Thanks for watching all. There are probably loads of great Wah riffs that I've missed. If you have any suggestions of any other good wah riffs, please leave them in a comment below. Might be good for anyone else who is looking for ideas too.
Fight the Power by The Isley Brothers
Making plans for Nigel by XTC is a great stationary use of the wah
The main riff from parabola by tool
Isaac Hayes "Shaft"
Tales of Brave Ulysses by Cream
Kudos for getting a deep cut from Hendrix to make the list, although I believe Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is the ultimate wah song, if not the one which sums up what the electric guitar is all about
Thank you. Yeah, Voodoo Child is a work of art. An absolute masterpiece in my opinion. I didn't dare touch it.
Totally agree. Thats why I never bought a wah pedal. I feel theres nothing else to do since Hendrix.
The ultimate wah song is Maggot Brain by Funkadelic nobody used wah quite like Eddie Hazel. And I'm a massive Hendrix dude.
@@Bkayplays4270 Zappa taught Hendrix how to use the wah so for me he’s the ultimate.
@@Bkayplays4270 voodoo child is the ultimate wah song.
I was expecting any Kirk solo to show up, and the little solo at the end didn't disappoint lol, good job
🤣🤣🤣 wha whaa
kirk wahmmett
The bass intro to N.I.B. by Sabbath makes great use of wah
I would have included the main riff from Rain When I Die from Alice in Chains. That riff is groovy as hell
Stooges, Dinosaur Jr., RATM, The Smiths & Hendrix. You've done it again, Bloxsy. Nice shred at the end too.
Thanks man
Doom city by King Gizzard is a great one too, very similar to Electric Funeral though
First song that came to mind before even watching was Electric Funeral, glad it was first up lol
Love that you included The Smiths, Johnny marr is criminally underrated
where'd you hear the smiths in this video?
Always love seeing the stooges getting some love on these lists!
Stooges are so real, so forceful
Very good list, would've rioted if Wah Wah by George Harrison wasn't in there aha.
I'm not sure I'm playing it right, might be in an open tuning, but it had to be in there!
@@bloxsy_ hes talking about the main guitar it starts in the 9 freet and then is the other guitar that you are playing
The rarest video on the internet. A Wah video with no Kirk Hammett!
End solo was Kirk
Nice Dinosaur Jr. tune. One of the most underrated bands and guitarist of all time.
Awesome video. Glad you included Dirt. Such a great song.
I was surprised that Hawkwind was listed here! Yeah they are still underrated for me.
I think
Tales of Brave Ulysses by Cream
Too Rolling Stoned by Robin Trower
Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Elephant Stone by The Stone Roses
are another epic songs with Wah pedal.
Maggot Brain is just a masterpiece, I don’t even listen to Funkadelic at all, but when I listened to that song, I felt so many things at the same time, that guitar player was great, he played a depressing Jimi Hendrix solo
I love this sound, almost like a synth, in wah wahs.
Interesting, had no idea that money of nothing riff included wah effect
Yeah, not in it's "normal" use though. He doesn't move it, just leaves it at a fixed position. Another cool wah wah sound that is not recognizable as wah wah is the "seagull" sound in the beginning of the second part of Echoes by Pink Floyd. I've read in an interview with David Gilmour that he plugged the cables in the wrong way (by mistake) and discovered that sound.
I believe Joe Satriani does that a lot as well
@@chrisjamesr77
Revolver by ratm uses a backwards plugged in wah too. Then delay, and whammy pedal.
@@tays8306 Tom Morello did always love his whammy pedal!
I knew "wow wow chicka wow wow" was gonna be on the list
😏😏
I was waiting for little fury things god what an incredible song
I was hoping for a Dinosaur Jr riff and I got one. I am beyond satisfied. Thanks again for another amazing video!
Happy you gave George the mention that song deserved
Amazing job!!! The tone is accurate and sweet to hear as always, and the song selection goes straight to the point!!!
Absolutely awesome playing! Make all these songs look so simple. Best I’ve seen it ages!
Great list! Would've loved to see the bridge/breakdown section of Viking Death March - Billy Talent. They're criminally underrated.
Nice list. One of my favorites is "Evil Eye" by Fu Manchu.
super cool to see the dinosaur jr inclusion. keep it up!
Two songs which use Wah but are very simple (I think) would probably be Mysterious Ways by U2 and I-94 by Radio Birdman. They always get stuck in my head whenever I listen to them
I've never really listened to Radio Birdman, I'll check them out.
I've got to be honest, I only know that song of theirs and another that the singer Deniz Tek did with James Williamson from the Stooges two years ago called Jet Pack Nightmare, but I'd recommend both songs strongly
Is not a riff, but the dani California final solo with the wah pedal is spectacular. Btw, nice video man ^^.
The intro of led zeppelin - how many more times (live on denmark radio) is a cool one too for anyone that´s interested. Btw it´s based on howlin wolf´s smokestack lightin.
Over It by Dinosaur Jr. is another good one
The wah solo from Bloody Well Right is always my favorite one.
YES!!! I love Hodgson's playing on that song!
The video length is pretty cool.
Thumbs up for video time stamps in the details, and especially for doing more than a few seconds of each riff (unlike most other RUclipsrs) . Still miss your full songs though.
I've been thinking of getting back to doing some full covers again. Maybe with vocals too.
Basically every heavy Spacemen 3 song
Haha I was hoping/expecting you to go into Electric Funeral at the very beginning, good video man 👍
so proud you included dirt by alice in chains:)
Harrison’s Wah-Wah is such a gorgeous riff. And to think George had to be persuaded to include it on the album…
Rusty Cage by Soundgarden is a solid one!
That Dinosaur Jr. song is amazing
Home by Dream Theater is pretty epic as well
Not a huge fan of the Wah pedal generally speaking though
How could you forget Voodoo Child? But I do love your videos regardless.
I thought it was a bit obvious. Also, I can't play it very well. I don't think anyone gets anywhere near the original except the RUclipsr Pilky if you've ever seen his version.
@@bloxsy_ yea he does do a rockin version!
wake up babe new bloxsy video
Good to see my favourite AIC song on here
very good man, I hope that I can get my wah wah pedal one day too...
Prowler by Iron Maiden is a terrific wah wah riff
burning of the midnight lamp...nice!
Wah-wah that's cool!
Fuckin right there's some Chains in there 🤘
The riff on “Down” by 311 is nice on the wah pedal
I would recommend 'The Hungry Wolf of Fate' by KGATLW
Believe it or not, Check your Head by the Beastie Boys has some great wah riffs
big respect for the money for nothing riff. I feel like a lot of people don't realize that it utilizes it.
Amazing video as always.

Yeah I was considering doing this, but I couldn't get the right sound for it.
Kirk Hammet likes this video.
I really like the Japanese band King Gnu's riffs with the wahs, you should listen to them!
I love using my cry baby but it’s hard to click the wah function while playing.
Stand up
Love the carpet reveal bro
Seagull - ride could be?
Such a varied list, not at all half-cocked (except for Money For Nothing, obvs) ... But where TF did Hawkwind come from?????? That was such an left-field choice, but a pleasant surprise too.
respect for putting sabbath first❤ supernaut with a wah is killer, too!
Hawkwind is such an underrated band!
You forgot to include every Kirk Hammett solo ever.
great list, I would have added dirty pillow talk, I think they use a wah at the beginning of the song
i love it
Cool video and always amazing, i Just came back from a Bax music store and now i know which guitar to play. I got a Fender jaguar inspired to get by you :)

This is probs just the audio on my end...
Treble seems high.
Great playing! and I'm sure it's me.
My damn ear-buds and phone are both shit
It might be a little, someone else mentioned it here.
Memory Pain by Gary Moore has tasty wah wah.Brutal!!
There's a Wah video without Kirk Hammet? Wow
Man in the box too
Elephant stone by the roses should definitely be included in this
Another one is "I Dissappear" By Metallica
That's a certified banger
1:31. Melhor de todos. 👏👏👏👏😄😄😄😊😊🥰🥰
Por que você coloca esse tipo de braçadeira na mão da guitarra?
Awesome! It sounds pretty weird, but can make some great sound
None of these songs uses the wah pedal better than the song O Penetra - Charlie Brown Jr which is a timeless work
Yeeeahhhh Kirk Wahmmett
WHAT ABOUT VOODOO CHILD??!!
yes the stooges were in here that is what I'm talking about lol
I agree, so powerful, so intelligent
Smoke on the Wah-wah
Cool, but where is voodoo Child?
Stranded by gojira is another great song with wah peddle
How about "Home" by Dream Theater? Very cool main riff.
Man it's very cool video. THANK YOU SO MUCH 💓
Hi from Ukraine 🇺🇦
Don't know if you like metal but there's this band that was called snot who uses a bunch of wah pedal riff, I'd recommend listening to "stoopid" or "my balls" by them
You missed Surfing with an alien by Joe Satriani
Great video!
I've not really heard that one. Thanks!
This list is missing "Prowler" by Iron Maiden
Good video. Boss katana 50?
Correct! Mk 2
I know a song also sounds wah wah it's Revolution is my name by Pantera
And Prowler?
Nice. So what other gear has collected dust 😁🤣?
Was there a different chain order for the different songs?

Put the wah behind the overdrive!
I recommend Rusty Cage by Soundgarden If you make part 2 of this video
What about voodoo child
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Its missing apocalyptic love by slash or mr brownstone by guns and roses
