Reminds me of the quote from the Book of Psalms cited by the Hebrews writer:
"And thou, LORD, in the beginning, hast laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the works of thine hands. They shall perish but thou remainest. And they all shall wax old as doth a garment and as a vesture shalt thou fold them up and they shall be changed. But thou art the same and thy years shall not fail."
Jesus, the Word of God, who, in the beginning was with God and who, as the Gospel writer taught, was God. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. This is the One of whom the Hebrews writer was speaking when he quoted that passage out of Psalm 102 (or Psalm 101 - Septuagint). The Psalmist wrote, "And thou, Jehovah, in the beginning, hast laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the works of thine hands."
That's right. The Apostles and Prophets understood that the Son of God is indeed Jehovah Elohim. Isn't that crazy? But today, we walk around wondering how on earth they could have dreamed that up. The fact is, they didn't dream it up. They got it out of the bible.
The New Testament teaches that the Creator God is none other than the One who took responsibility for us - for our sins - and took on Himself the iniquity of us all. The Word made flesh became the ultimate sacrifice for sin. Thank you Jesus!
