I have the 14-42mm PZ X lens and the tele and wide converters. Can confirm it works great with that zoom.

Just stumbled across your channel for the first time, and coincidentally I currently have my 14mm and GWC1 fitted to my GX8, which is sat on the desk in front of me! I don't use the GWC1 all that often, but when I do I find it to be really rather good.

Hi Brian, another great video. Well, I was so impressed by your praise for the DMW-GWC 1 Wide Angle Adaptor Lens that I decided to take you up on your advice and make a purchase. The GWC 1 should arrive by Thursday 10-02-2022. When it arrives, I will attach it to my 14mm Prime and rush outside and put it through its paces lol. It / they will be powered by my Panasonic Lumix G9. So, there should be no holding me back. Thanks for your advice and keep those videos coming, I'm always willing to learn more about photography and kit, even at my age of 70 years and a bit, lol, cheers. Ken R.

Thanks a lot for the information on the lenses Brian. I looked on eBay and found one right away. Thank you so much for turning me on to this lens. You have a great channel Brian, keep up the good work

Good to see you back, Brian. I don't have the Panny converter but I use the Olympus WCON-P-01 Wide Converter with my Olympus 14-42 II R kit lens, expanding that lens' effective bottom range to 11 mm. I find it an inexpensive wide-angle alternative, especially when getting close to things for a non-macro fill-the-frame look. It runs ~ $100 US or less, depending upon where you find it.

It occurred to me that whilst the DMW-GCW1 you have there is for fitment to both the 14mm H-H014 and the 14-42 PZ H-PS14042, it is similar to the DMW-LT55 tele and DMW-LC55 close-up for the FZ200 which require the DMW-LA7 lens adaptor to hold these lenses out in front of the camera lens. at a fixed distance (i.e. from the sensor). I have long had a pair of rather cheap and nasty Polaroid 2.2X tele and 0.43X WA for the ancient FZ200 that fit on the LA7.
Likewise the Olympus 0.8X Wide Angle Conversion Lens WCON-08 I acquired is apparently for the C2100, C3040, E100RS, A200, B300, PT010, Stylus-1 and some Tough cameras which require one of the Olympus CLA adaptors to hold the lens at the correct distance in front of the camera lens, as that lens itself neither has a filter thread nor is strong enough to support it, such as the CLA-1 41-43 that is about 2cm deep for my very ancient Olympus Camedia C2040Z which is now used to carry IR filters.
Adapting these conversions lenses to other lenses is possible with adaptors providing the lens can handle the weight but may require spacers i.e. a stack of adaptor rings to obtain good focus. Vignetting may be a problem.
There is a (discontinued) light weight 2.0x tele conversion lens for the H-PS14042 PZ, the DMW-GTC1. However the manual does say that as of September 2011, "You cannot attach a conversion lens or adaptor to this lens. A filter may be used, but attaching any other element may cause damage to the lens." The conversion lenses for the H-PS14042 were unveiled in 2012 ... www.panasonic.com/uk/support/discontinued-products/cameras-camcorders/dmw-gtc1gu.html

Hi Brian, an UPDATE to my previous message below. My lens conversion has arrived this morning and it doesn't work. Why! because like an idiot I made the mistake of reading the M for a W. Yes, I bought the Macro version not the Wide version. But it does indeed work ok for Macro. Oh well we all make mistakes at times. 😂

Following watching this video and wanting an oddball size adapter ring - I found the ring with an Olympus equivalent 0.8X Wide Conversion Lens (very cheaply). Whilst it works as you describe, it does not suit every lens I've tried it on, and those it does like go down to 12 or 14 anyway, and it is about the same weight as the Lumix 7-14.

Not sure if actually tried to find one, but I have. I've seen 3 in four years. I got mine only a month ago. Not many people want to let go of them. It's the widest, most luminous option for M43 with AF, yet still at only 125g total. Also, when you take it off, you turn it in the SAME direction as to tighten the filter threads.

I have the DMW-GTC1 2X lens-front teleconverter for the PZ14-42 (which I use a lot on the small cameras). It will also fit on the Oly 45mm, as you do, although that throws the metering out of kilter. It will fit other small lenses with a lens ring. It will focus with a slim ring in there. Vignetting with the 2X is not a problem. You may well be able to fit a filter in there. It is no way nearly as good as a longer lens, but you can slip it in your pocket.
If I am carrying the tiny E-PL7 I won't want a lot of clutter. It will probably have the PZ14-45 mounted and the little PZ45-175 in my pocket. I have other lenses but these are the smallest covering a decent range.
The wide-angle DMW-GWC1 0.79X seems like a better idea, and a lot smaller than lugging the 7-14 tank about. I rarely use the latter at 7mm, more likely 9-12mm.

Hi Brian, thanks for this video and the inspiration to use it for wider angle. I've found a used cheap one. The GWC1 fits also on the Lumix 12-32mm and the Olympus 14-42EZ lens. At the Lumix 12-32 it have a focal length of about 9.5mm, so it's wide enough for my needs.

    • @ThatMicro43Guy

Yes as they both have 46mm filter threads, although I’m not too sure how successful they’ll be optically
