Time for new kinds of learning so we don’t fail our kids. Neurodiversity is everywhere.

Wish it existed when I was a kid. Glad it's happening now.

Train that person to conform.... that's all this is.... so that they spend 99% of their energy conforming with not much left for learning. These kids aren't broken.... they are just different.

What is shocking is how people with autism end up in regular classrooms. They should be assessed and placed in special needs classes like TLC and Special Ed am i right?

No, it's called Autism Spectrum Disorder for a reason. It's a spectrum. Some autistic people are nonverbal and cannot ever be in a regular classroom, no one even considers it. Some are on the other end of the spectrum and don't need additional help at school, many people don't even know that they have autism. It's all of the kids in the middle range that are being talked about. Some of them can do really well, as well as any other kid, if a few simple changes are made.

@@unicorn-glasses Yeah i agree its the spectrum and those kids who have ADHD and the ones with autism i think they are called high functioning. There definently needs to be a support system and more help for them when needed, like counselors specialized and trained who can intervene and step in. In my opinion the school counselors in any K-12 schools they have hired are not qualified individuals and trained to help these types of kids within the spectrum.

No, you are wrong. Look up FAPE and the law.

This all sounds great and it may help children with special needs. But if we are being completely honest teachers right now are not even meeting the needs of average students, so to pretend they can even implement this, is a complete lie.

False. Try again. Or just stop talking about something you don’t know about.

@@DeeWeber You are not the minister of truth, so I can keep talking and will. Teachers are failing to educate our children, even before the virus we are not allowed to say by name happened. The dumber our kids are, the easier they are to control and indoctrinate when they are adults.

There are small classroom changes because nobody wants their kids in school now that Washington wants changes in the schools.

In case you are wondering about Newspeak:
    *Neurodivergence*
Noun: Cognitive functioning which is not considered "typical". For example, autistic, dyslexic, and dyspraxic people. In other words: Mentally abnormal people.
