As a current Leo, I had one and went back to a Tahoe ppv. The only advantage over my Tahoe was that it handles a little bit better but not by much imo.
I read this all the time with Leo preferring Tahoe's. I was looking into seeing if civilians could buy a new Inceptor) was that they have a really good rear crash test rating(Ford says the highest at 75mph). I did see one video of a dude plowing into the back of one highway at highway speed a year ago with the Inceptor at a standstill and the Inceptor took it like a champ with the Leo walking out from the wreck looking fine. With that said Tahoe is bigger so maybe that is just as good. I saw one video of a 47 year old female Leo in a Tahoe ramming some drunk going full speed head on at her and she did end up in the hospital but heck she survived and got released so still impressive but I guess big SUV is bound to do decent against a car.

Those are actually not an SUV. It’s just an CUV. It’s not on a truck frame.
You are correct. Also seen transverse engine in these.
I have a feeling the 2016 3.7 is faster, but I think this thing would be faster if you'd brake boost it...
I don't think the 3.7 would be faster. The Taurus did 7.3-7.5s, so the Explorer will definitely be over 8 seconds. I'll have to film one sometime. Brake boosting won't do anything here since there is no turbo.
Ever wanted to kill time at work ? Just Be a cop 🤷🏽♂️
No wonder why my Sonata gapped that Ford Explorer police car so easy they are so slowwww 🤣
The Explorer EcoBoost is pretty fast
@DMCarReviews So fast a regular economy car can smoke it 🤣
the 3.0 is a powerhouse vs the 3.3
It's quicker than the 3.3 for sure, but I still think it will closer to 7s realistically...
@@DMCarReviews the 3.0tt have plenty of tests of under 6, but then again that’s before any of the added weight. michigan state police tested it to be quicker than ths 5.7 charger
@@hithmedia I can tell you already it's not doing under 6s by Dragy testing with how I test. Without any added weight, it will be around ~6.5s most likely. The only way they got sub 6s is with a 1ft rollout and perfect conditions. When I hopefully find one, I'll make sure to do some 0-60 runs.
@@DMCarReviews excited to see one with the 3.0tt when the time comes!
michigan state police states 5.68 average on the 3.0 FPIU and 6.01 to 60 on the 5.7 charger from their testing

@@hithmedia I really doubt such times, but I'll definitely test that. That's the time I got with a stock ST using boosted start, so theirs with more weight will probably be slower.
Not much faster than them a crown Vic. The lack of torque with the naturally aspirated v6 is noticeable.
It does the same numbers as the Crown Victoria. It even traps at the same speed in the 1/8 mile.
You pretty much only get the 3.3 if your police department has a jurisdiction that’s basically city ish driving.
My local township is mainly highways, so the police departments have the ecoboost 3.0 explorers and the 3.5 ecoboost ssv expeditions
I have an Expedition 3.5T EcoBoost coming up :)
Haha 😂😂 a cop with no uniform 😂😂 alert is the PoPo on the loose 😂😂😂
this is unreadable
it sounds nice! but its got the worst throttle response ever
Not good on the throttle response
@@DMCarReviews Yeah its really annoying at T-junctions
its literally slower than a minivan 😂
Not slower, but on par :)
@@DMCarReviews ik im just giving the interceptor a hard time :)
The Dodge minivan maybe. The Honda Odyssey probably not.
arent those things supercharged or something? my toyota is faster than that 😭
No, they are not supercharged.
So my santa cruz is faster... good to know lmao
I guess it may be faster
Man that is slowww.
its not THAT bad. slow is my old dodge magnum with the 2.7
@@WayneKerr69420those 2.7s aren't adequate for those large cars. Not to mention, have poor reliability unless you maintain them well and use synthetic oil. I've swapped them out with the 3.5s on the 300s and chargers.
@@carlweeks9256 Yeah the 2.7s are terrible.
Slow garbage of a car.
One probably pulled you over
@@DMCarReviews or the fact that is only does 0-60 in 9sec 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Prius sets a better time.
@@vette-4-life The Prius doesn't have the sirens or lights, so it won't be getting the same right of way
@@DMCarReviews you make no sense
@@vette-4-life The police car doesn't need to be faster than a Prius. If you try to run in a 6s car, you'll hit traffic and they will quickly catch up to you in their 8-9s Explorer once they gain the speed and momentum. Everyone gets out the way for them, but not for you.
0-60 in 8.5. my honda clapping them cheeks... i do 6.4 seconds in a stock honda lol
What model?
your honda AINT doing 6.4
lol go sit in the back seat hands behind your back😂 see if it’s a comfortable ride then
I don't want to
So my Ranger will outrun this, but our Atlas wont. Good to know 🫡
Isn't the Atlas faster, especially the newest one?
@@DMCarReviews not a chance. The 3.6 VR6 in ours sounds incredible, but it’s leisurely for sure. The Ranger with its 2.3t (even the heaviest top trip Lariat Tremor 4x4) is noticeably quicker.
Havent driven the new 2024 Atlas with the updated 2.0t, that one is probably quicker than our 3.6
@@jakes5530The 2.0t did 7.3s-7.5s on the 0-60 in the rain. What's the top speed of your Ranger? These Explorers go to 137mph.
@@DMCarReviews explorer can definitely get the ranger on the top end
