Thank you! I hate spending large amounts of money at the dealer for simple do-it-yourself jobs. You are very articulate and your walkthroughs are excellent!
My friend took his jetta to a vw dealership for regular maintenence. All they this was an oil change and nothing else, no oil filter/ air filter change and they charged him 302$ 😂. 100 for the oil change and 170 in labour charges + taxes bringing it to 302😂. I said him the oil would have costed 60$ at walmart and I would have done it just for a popeyes sandwich 😂😂😂
$40 and 20 minutes, half of which was spent getting the cover back on for the in cabin filter, which just took a bit of patience. Great video, thank you!
I ordered 2 engine air filters, 2 cabin filters, and 2 oil filters for my ‘14 Passat and ‘15 Jetta for $55 including sales tax and free shipping from FCP Euro.
Yes, dealerships just overcharge every time you take it in for service. My one friend was quoted $400 for an oil change, tire rotation and air filter change!
Hey brother I appreciate it I needed to change out .y cabin filter and your directions was spot on did the job In Probably 5 minutes or less lol thanks again
Thank you for this easy to follow guide!!! It would have cost twice as much as the part to pay someone else to do. It was also incredibly empowering to do it as well. It almost makes me want to just do everything on my car myself!!! Keep doing the damn thingy!!!
Thanks for the video. It makes it easy to see all that’s involved. Hoping that’s the issue of not getting any air to our windshield via the defroster. Thx again JT
Awesome video! Stumbled upon your content looking for entry level mods. I have a new to me 2015 Passat I picked up a few months ago. Followed your video with a DNA Motoring high flow air filter that is similar, if not, exactly as K&N but for a lot less. After driving, I noticed the car has an improved throttle response!
I would cross check it on K&N official webpage. Sometimes Amazon’s compatibility chart isn’t accurate or updated. As long as it’s compatible on K&Ns website, you can look for that part number on Amazon and you should be okay to use it www.knfilters.com/air-filters/volkswagen/passat/
Hi, Ur Video is Very helpful... I even saw ur Audi K&N filter replacement video over ther u said 50,000 kms recommended & company Filter 12000 kms... Could u please tell @ what kms for VW Passat 2017 replacement also for cabin filter... Thank you....
Hello! I recommend changing the engine filter every 12,000 miles (roughly 20,000 km). At this time, I would change the cabin air filter as well so it’s easy to remember
It’s good practice to do so every year or 12,000 miles (if you don’t use the reusable ones). If you use the reusable ones, the same interval applies but you just need to clean the filters rather than change them
2013 passat 2.5l different engine. In your video looks like you have different engine air filter different locations. My 2013 passat air filter inside cover
I believe this is the 1.8T version, which could explain why the locations are different. It should hopefully still give you a general idea of the steps involved!
@@DIYDetail Seriously, and better be bio-hazard proof. I ordered the filters and will be replacing them myself. Thanks for sharing this video. It will definitely help me out 👌👍

If you’re referring to the engine air filter, it should be in the same location as shown in the video but if you’re referring to the exterior AC related vents, they can be found under the windshield wipers. Sorry if it doesn’t help as I’m not too familiar with this model
For THIS, best to wear a dust-mask -- what those masks were really made for. Prevent bronchitis or sinusitis or unnecessary asthma. Also BEFORE opening it, Why not put a cheep basic painter's drop-sheet/plastic sheet, or clean shower curtain, or a bed sheet that's easy to shake outside the car, and/or wash, in order to catch the debris that comes out? Sure beats spreading the dust & pollen & bugs, or needing to vacuum the carpet/upholstery etc...
Thanks! Yes you can use the K&N filter but just make sure you buy the diesel version! The product linked in the description is the gas version. You might have to buy it directly from K&N if Amazon does not have it

Thanks a lot for the kind words!!

LOL oh man they must be using some gold trim filters 😂

Thx! It worked. Dealer quoted $103 to replace just the air cabin filter. Purchased filter for $28 and spent 4 minutes, total, to install it.
No problem! It’s crazy how much they charge for a simple task

Nice! I love FCP Euro. Quality parts and fast shipping along with the lifetime warranty on all parts, including filters
Wow that’s cheap. The vw dealer charges 95 just for the one oil change

Auto Zone for the same items $100 plus sales tax and not shipped to your door.
Thank you, that cabin air filter was confusing until I saw this.
No problem! Glad to help :)

Thanks for posting this video. Clear and easy instructions.
Thanks for the video. Took about 5 minutes for the cabin filter.
Excellent tutorial, very concise and helpful. Thank you!
I don't know anything about cars. 🙈 For the first time I changed something by myself. Thanks for this video! 👏🏻
No problem!! Glad to help!
Worked like a charm! Thank you sir
Thank you! Wouldn’t have found the cabin air filter without your video…I’ll be dammed if I open the manual
Thank you for showing us how to do it, I changed today and was very easy.😊
I'm doing this today and itll be my first time as well. Thank you for the video man. Now I'm comfortable doing this.
No problem! Hope the install went smooth!
Great video, helped me change both filters quickly
What do I do if the air filter hose is really hard to remove? Even tho I did pinch the sides and try to squeeze it out
Very informative, brief and to the point. Thanks a lot!! Saved me probably about $150 by DIY, instead of going to the car dealership. Thanks again!
Thank you!! Money is needed elsewhere at all times this saved me money and time and now I have the knowledge forever!!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the video, I had to go back outside because I forgot the snap.
Merci beaucoup pour ce montage très explicite, je vais m’employer à entretenir moi-même ma Passat 2016
Thank you for the video , the only thing was the air filter was a different location. But great video
Thanks for the update! I’ve gotten that feedback a few times. What year is your model?
Thanks v much guys. Will be having a go tmrw
Hopefully it worked out to be super easy!

Great video, thank you! Will be doing this on our passat when the parts arrive.
Glad to help!
When I tried to pull the hose out in the engine filter compartment, it is super tight/hard for me. Any knack to help with that?
Sorry for the delay! There should be some tightness but not hard. If it’s hard, the pipe might be bent. I would check that before using it again!
Wow hoy cambié mi filtro y le puse ese mismo ahora a esperar que resultados daaa ✌️✌️
Thanks for the video. Amazon says the K&N engine filter doesn't fit a 2015 Passat. Any advise on that?

VW dealership wants to charge me $128 for the air filter and cabin filter. I laughed 🤣 💀
Hahaha I would laugh too. For that price, it better be medical grade level filters

Where's the intake vent found for fresh air

This is great.
The dealership wants $70.00 in Seattle area to do this 5 minute job. SMH
why does your new filter look like an old filter?
Haha that’s just the way the K&N filters look but it’s definitely new
Nice
Thanks doods!

Good demo. Only 1 suggestion. GET rid of that Goofy music.

Urano grey gang
Change the fuel filter
