Every time I see a playthrough of this and hear the music, every - single - time, I remember sitting on the floor in the living room playing through it while my dad played jim croce on his big, new stand up entertainment center
I remember I would go to my friend's house across the street, and we would play this game. He would say, "Thou hath discovered GERMS" every time. It didn't get as old as you might think, and the memory can still bring a smile to my face.
The music, the mystique, the challenge... just a classic. I played this during a huge chunk of my boyhood. Back in the original NES days, there was just a magic to it, and this was one of those games.
It's weird when a long forgotten memory returns, the feeling is almost indescribable. I forgot this game even existed until the invincibility music and gem chest screen. I don't think I ever got past the first level, I only remember thinking the sword was useless.
I kept waiting for him to climb the outside castle wall to see how he did it. That was the part that always got me... and he just glitched right past it.
I have memories of renting this game from video store and playing with my brother and friends and we all we in awe of this game. I loved it and recently bought it and beat it again.
Arcus! Such a great choice! I love all your runs but I especially like this one. Kudos to you my friend. I've played all 3 instances of the W&W saga. I like the 3rd one the most maybe you can make a run on it, but the other two are fine. It's just that the third I think was a bit more fun to play. The music score, the game mechanics, the graphics... This one is way more challenging and requires a lot of patience and skill. But again kudos(Kuros! lol) to you and hopefully we will see you playing the II and III. Thanks man!
Played through this a lot when it was new. It was kind of just a fun zen thing to do quick runs of, and mess around with. Now though, it seems weird AF. It's really an unusual game which is oddly fun to play despite making no sense at all.
yes, before there was Elden Ring, there was Wizards and Warriors! lol. I remember playing this on cartridge as a kid. When From Software first came out with Demon's Souls I immediately thought of this game and said to myself, "That's Wizards and Warriors!". It's crazy. That game was hard as hell, btw. Even for a 9 year old like me back then. When I think Knight in Shining armor I don't think Karate Kid 2 theme song. I think Wizards and Warriors.
I don't think there was any other NES game I wanted to be better at, and was worse at. This game baffled my 6-10 year old existence. Watching you play through it now shows me, I never stood a chance lol...
You are a master of your craft! Never would have believed it could be beaten in under 15 minutes. I owned this game in 1990 and it took me 3+ hours to beat it.
That jump for the Feather of Feather Fall took me FOREVER to figure out and even now I can only pull it off every now and then. Great work as usual, Arcus!
Dude i am glad i found you. When i seen you for the first time wearing your hat. I thought ??? Huh and i started watching all your videos. And the way you smashed wizards and warriors amazed me beyond belief. I have a twin and he was the video game player growing up at first while i was the sporty child but i got the best of both worlds outside playing sports all day and coming in at dark and me and my twin playing video games and his channel is "Nubs The Gamer" but anyway you threw me off and im thought he cant be that good at games but wow!!!! Your run was awesome. Where are you from if i may ask? I don't wanna be stereotypical and think Texas because of your get up lol see you in the next game buddy take care.
Just curious, why don't you use the dagger of throwing to pick up gems more often? Doing so nets you two gems per each instead of the one you get by manually collecting it.
Very nice!!! An almost 100% legit speed run. 2-3 glitches, but the rest was just playing the game efficiently. This was one of those games where it worked, but wasn't that great when compared to other games like Ghouls & Ghosts or Castlevania. Probably someone's 2nd or 3rd game. HOWEVER ... it is definitely playable and has some cool music, which was key for console games back then.
The Purple Cave is what I came here to watch. That's when the game stops being nice. You have to grind for a speed potion to make a tricky jump. If you miss, you have to start all over again. This part probably makes speed runners tear their hair out. That and very last level I nicknamed 'Capitalism' due to you having to grind money. XD
i subscribed because i remember how insane this game was as a kid... and he made it look like a joke..... while he hummed the "you're gonna die" music on the first stage. +1
I'm very confused: I played this game over and over for years, and this is not what happend in my game: you went from the 2nd forest back to the caves? Was that part of the going backwards glitch, that you went to the first woods? No castle, no wizard etc?
this game always was so rage inducing. . like stuff just flying at you from every direction. nothing is explained. doors appearing randomly. other doors refusing to open. wonky hitboxes. the characters sword does practically nothing. having to jump constantly, hop hop hop hop and then you miss landing on a platform , despite clearly touching itand fall down and down and down. .all the way to the bottom and then have to hop hop hop hop back up and the enemies doing cheap damage , but it's inconsistent, like sometimes you take no damage, other times, you just take tons and die. items in chests are not explained, like it says "you just found the gogo boots of ultimate destiny " and then it doesn't seem to do anything at all. .
This game was so simple but somehow so damn good. I cannot be the only one who used to stand close to those guard knights and mash attack to simulate a swordfight.
I love the understated smile hidden by the moustachio with a twinkle in the eyes when he sees he's headed towards a world record. It's always the same look. lol
In the late 1980’s me and my aunt started doing g these speed runs after beating this game. It started at an hour and slowly worked down to 26 minute, which she did. I almost beat her with 24 minutes but messed it up. This was before the internet so we had no help in figuring it out.
So in the first three levels, the knight has been to Hugh Hefner’s estate to rescue Lucinda (stripper name if ever I’ve heard one), saved Esmerelda from Quasimodo in Notre Dame and travelled to Middle Earth to rescue the most power elf this side of the undying lands? Fair play to him.
Two questions: First, what's the purpose of picking up so many gems? Second, it looked like he didn't follow the map in order? I expected the game to end at the top of the tower, but instead he ended up going back in the lower-left dungeon.
My main problem with this game was that the "you're near dead" music was so epic that it actually made me want to be at low health. Maybe that's why I never knew there even were bosses until now.
I played this a few times at a friend's house, never got very far. I did end up buying the second one and eventually beating it. Pretty good game, wouldn't mind seeing it make a comeback. Congrats on the PB!
I liked this game as a kid, but I don't think I ever really understood it or got very far. I liked the way things moved and the sound and music. I think I was able to do a little more on the sequels that had different suits of armor.
This game was impossible for me as a kid. I thought I was going to beat it until I realized you had to beat all the end level elements on a row at the end.
Every time I see a playthrough of this and hear the music, every - single - time, I remember sitting on the floor in the living room playing through it while my dad played jim croce on his big, new stand up entertainment center
Bad bad Leroy Brown blasting in the background while killing demons. We must had the same childhood lol
@@jtnuts9362 must have. It's a very vivid memory, lol
Great…
Wow that's crazy, I can say the same thing about my mother and our console record player in the 80s, Jim Croce and dozens of others
No skeleton changeling or evil wizard?
I love how the game just says “THE MAP”. Like, “screw you, we don’t have to name this world!”
I remember I would go to my friend's house across the street, and we would play this game. He would say, "Thou hath discovered GERMS" every time. It didn't get as old as you might think, and the memory can still bring a smile to my face.
Arcus is the Bob Ross of gaming XD... so relaxing with happy little accidents ....
Very true
Rented it a couple times as a kid, but really couldn't do much with it. Just seemed to wander about and eventually die. GG and congrats!
Lol me too. I never knew what I was doing. Just wander around until I died
Same!. The music and sound effects are iconic.
This was one of my favorite rentals from my childhood NES days. Great pick Arcus.
To this day I still play it
Same here. I rented this one many times. I played it recently and it felt so alien, i had no idea what to do or where to go. Lol gettin old
Many nostalgic memories of renting this game as well!!!! How I long for the past. Back when times were much better!
Ahhh don’t you love that? Those games that you never owned BUT rented many times? Hmmm love it. “The Legend of Kage” was one of those for me
The music, the mystique, the challenge... just a classic. I played this during a huge chunk of my boyhood. Back in the original NES days, there was just a magic to it, and this was one of those games.
this game has confused me since the 80s.
I have no idea why you need the gems 💎 lol
@@AnnalinaSR21 gotta pay the doorman lol.
@@ithakra oh o.o
You need gems to bribe the knights guarding certain passages.
@@ithakragotta pay the troll toll to get the boy’s hole?
It's weird when a long forgotten memory returns, the feeling is almost indescribable.

This was actually the first NES game I played in like, 1987. GG!!!
Such an odd game. When I was a kid I never remember making that past the first stage
if this is odd, then Iron Sword must have REALLY been crazy for you! heh
@@brandonsutton3750 yeah, that one is a trip
@@adrianshappymoments9343 yeah I wanted to like it since I liked this game so much, but I was just awful at iron sword. hahaha
I remember this as a child and how the box art and game didn’t match up at all. I was so disappointed by the game.
Movie and video game posters were similar in that regard. Awesome artwork. The end product though? Not so much.
Same with the game Deadly Towers. The box art was so cool and the game was hot garbage
Not a Fabio fan, huh.
The game looks like trash! I mean he's killing it but it looks horrible to play.
I love your runs because I always get to see parts of games I've never seen as a kid playing them
He glitched the last part, so you haven't seen the last stages of this game :)
Wow you suck at video games bud
i played this for years never beat it lol
“Aaanndd klunk *game sound playing*” - Arcus 🤠 👢 👢
I totally remember playing this game back in the day...a knight jumping everywhere and very little hand-to-hand combat...
What did you do? this was for real?
I played this game for almost most 30 years, and never knew about these glitches ..... 😓
I loved this goofy-ass game back in the day. It's wild that you can get the ending faster by glitching back to stage 1 like that
I kept waiting for him to climb the outside castle wall to see how he did it. That was the part that always got me... and he just glitched right past it.
Love that you're playing this Arcus! Probably my fave NES game from when I was a kid, love it!
Still have my copy from when I was a child, Love this game! ❤️
Love the gpk avatar!
I used to beat this game as a 7 year old kid back in like 1988. Took me a couple hours I think, not 15 minutes... lol.
I probably spent more than 15 minutes just waiting for an enemy to drop a purple potion so I could jump up that one ledge in the cave. 😆
I have memories of renting this game from video store and playing with my brother and friends and we all we in awe of this game. I loved it and recently bought it and beat it again.

That jump at 5:12 used to drive me nuts. would take me a good 5 minutes a lil kid
Me too
Omg I loved this game! It was so difficult as a kid! Annnnd CLUNK
Difficult, but very easy. In a one sit of a day you could finished this ( after at dying 100000000 times in a row )
This guy is such a joy to watch. Calm and steady.
The was one of the best all time rental games.

One of my favorite games when I was younger
These games have 🔥 soundtracks
Check out ‘Vomitron’ - he has an amazing heavy metal cover of this and many other soundtracks from NES titles.
You are a master of your craft! Never would have believed it could be beaten in under 15 minutes. I owned this game in 1990 and it took me 3+ hours to beat it.

This was one of my favorite games growing up.
I always wondered why they had you enter your name at the end when the info couldn't be saved after removing the game.
How did he win it without beating the wizard?
Wizards and warriors is such an underrated fun game.
Try Solomon's key...brutal

The music brings back sooo many memories
gg. This was one of my favorite games of my childhood :)
Dudes a pro at all the classics. Crazy
Arcus; The Man, The Myth, The Legend
One of my absolute favorites as a kid!

Beat it back in the days, not so fast :D and the way was different. There was an enemy growing after a few hits.
He used a glitch to skip the castle and the growing skeleton and the final boss.

Great speedrun 🔥
15 damn minutes?!?! I remember way back in the day the first time me and my cousins beat this it took us ALL DAMN NIGHT.
I had completely forgotten about this game. I think I might have some PTSD left over from this game. It made me really uncomfortable watching this.
From my previous comment a year ago, when I played this I had to scale the outside of the castle before the large area that require 200 or 250? gems.
Two questions: First, what's the purpose of picking up so many gems?
Second, it looked like he didn't follow the map in order? I expected the game to end at the top of the tower, but instead he ended up going back in the lower-left dungeon.
This was my favorite nes game as a kid, loved figuring it out. At 7 yrs old I finally beat it. Good times.
If it didn't make you cry is wasn't a video game in the 80's.
That's a substantial improvement on that PB. Nicely done
Love this classic. It was teaching kids how to be Souls gamers long before there were Souls games 🤣
Game was crazy odd when it came out. Just nothing played like it
Wait....what just happened?
That glitch on the left of that open world let's you loop back to the first few levels?
Ok...
Funny how the last princess is named Candida, which is the name of a fungal yeast microorganism 😂😂
The rage when you would have the boots and accidently replaced them with another item...
Loved this game when I was a kid
My main problem with this game was that the "you're near dead" music was so epic that it actually made me want to be at low health. Maybe that's why I never knew there even were bosses until now.
This game used to piss me off when I first bought back then, hated it, but still played it.
Dumb question, what happened to the final boss and the whole castle section, did I miss something?
This game looks CLUNK big time lol idk how it's some of yalls favorite nes game but to each their own I guess 👍
I played this a few times at a friend's house, never got very far. I did end up buying the second one and eventually beating it. Pretty good game, wouldn't mind seeing it make a comeback. Congrats on the PB!
Beating the second is a real accomplishment for the NES--it was the least forgiving.
I never did get passed the 3rd level on this one as a kid, fun seeing the whole thing!
5:22 Out-of-bounds glitches are allowed?
10:09 I was following most of the game fine until this part just turned everything on its head.
An amazing game... part 2 and 3 were COMPLETE ASS
So many hours running around like a chicken with our heads cut off! It’s awesome to see there was an easier way 😂
Wow this takes me back!
Don't you have to climb a tower and kill a wizard? Someone clue me in!
Arcus,,,,,,next, im request Double Dragon NES
I still hum some of the tune s from this game to this day lol. Mainly the invincibility tune lol, so many times.
No drug can compare to the dopamine that's released from playing Nintendo..
The knight's name is Lord Simp..the rescuer of helpless damsels
How come he played some levels over and got to skip the castle and fighting the wizard?
The screen is so dark! You know what’s funny. The hero has to marry all those wenches, and also the near death music sounds too happy
This isn't really playing the game.... just glitching thru....
Thankyou for this
