    I just ordered the pinpoint module yesterday and after watching your video realized my Xi5 came with all of that already. Good video.

    Bought an xi5 14 months ago. It stopped working. The nearest service center is 2.5 hours away.That's 5 hours driving just to drop it off. I called motorguide and was told to buy the control board and install it myself. I don't live in BFE I live in Ft Lauderdale and have 3 Minnkota service centers within 30 minutes of me. If you live in South Florida Motorguide's warranty is like Obama Care, you have insurance but you cant use it.

    That tape mod is a must do for this motor.I wish I would have done that when I first installed mine.Mine spun around while in anchor mode,and stretched/broke the wires going into the GPS module.Now I have pretty much the motor that the author removed from the box.It was just out of warranty,and MG pretty much told me to KMA.
    I could not find out if the current part is improved from original with better accuracy,but I see the date on the Pinpoint box is from 2014.The dongle update did little for mine,still had positional problems with it.It would go goofy,and wrap itself up tight.Some days it was perfect,others not so much.Pinpoint kit isn't cheap(around 425.00 or so),so I just got a Minnkota Terrova BT to replace it.
    I still have the Xi5,but if the current kit is no different than original,then I should just trash it?0 issues so far with the Terrova,but steering is slower than Xi5.Would be nice to have Xi5 for a spare.

    So with this particular trolling motor it “powers on” when deployed and “powers off” when stowed?

    Hello, greatly explained and showed !!! I have a few questions: 1) that piece of cable that you named NMEA, exactly on 14th minute of the video, that you pulled out from the bottom of the unit after you installed it - what is it for ? and, I have Garmin Ecomap Ultra 126SV with Panoptix - do I have to connect that piece of wire to Garmin to make its work or not ? Appreciate your answer. Thx

      Hi Russ! Thanks for the comment!
      That NMEA 2000 cable is to connect to a Lowrance NMEA 2000 network and provide interface between a Lowrance Elite TI, Elite Ti2, HDS Gen 2 Touch, Gen 3, Carbon or Live unit.
      Unfortunately this cannot communicate with your Garmin fishfinder as it is a Lowrance / Motorguide autopilot feature (Exclusive to Lowrance)

    The boat is ofsetting like a meter in anchor mode, is this normal or need calibration?

    • @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore
      @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore  5 месяцев назад +1

      Good Day. We would suggest doing the Offset calibration once and the Compas calibration twice. 1m is not bad at all.... According to the Official GPS website: "The accuracy commitments do not apply to GPS devices, but rather to the signals transmitted in space. For example, the government commits to broadcasting the GPS signal in space with a daily global average user range error (URE) of ≤2.0 m (6.6 ft.), with 95% probability, across all healthy satellites in constellation slots. Actual performance is typically much better. On April 20, 2021, the global average URE across all satellites was ≤0.643 m (2.1 ft.), 95% of the time." Do you need a Lowrance to take advantage of the pinpoint accuracy.i hate to. I own a new Garmin fish finder .just wondering b4 I spend over a thousand dollars that I don't need to upgrade fish finder.

    • @caygeonkid
      @caygeonkid 2 года назад

      You can use either a Humminbird/Lowrance, certain models to network connect but unit will use pinpoint without another fish finder connected. It has its own GPS function.

    Hello. Do you have to connect it to your Lowrance for the gps to work. Or could you theoretically use this for spot lock/anchor without any nmea connection or fish finder?

    • @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore
      @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore  4 года назад +1

      Hi Stanky Fishing. You do not require the NMEA 2000 Connected to the lowrance to have an Anchor Lock motor. If you have a GPS Anchor Lock Model, it will use the internal GPS in the Xi5 to Anchor Lock

    Hello and great video. I just purchased a Xi5 and a Lowrance Elite Ti2 and I thought they would link together wirelessly. Can they link wirelessly or do I have to purchase the NMEA starter kit to link these together?

    • @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore
      @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore  5 лет назад

      Hi Jay
      You will need a NMEA 2000 Starter Kit and the Motorguide Lowrance NMEA Gateway

      @@BassWorldoffishingtacklestore Hi, thanks for the great video. I have just installed my Xi5 pinpoint together with gateway and NMEA and it seems to have worked 1st time, i was able to access the menu on my Elite Ti and anchor to cursor 50 yards away. I just have a question about the noises / beeps the motor makes. I can't find reference to them in the manual. When I engaged anchor again it beeped continuously ( a few times a second) until I disconnected power from the motor. Have you experienced this and what do you think it could be? I have a short video I could email to you or upload.

    Avoid Motorguide. They are not reliable. Research for yourself and see. Many customers complain of their Control Board breaking and the expensive replacement. Customer service is terrible too.

    what i buy something and have to pull it apart how stupid is that

    • @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore
      @BassWorldoffishingtacklestore  5 лет назад +10

      Why would you have to pull it apart? This is how to UPGRADE your Xi5 to a pinpoint GPS model if you bought it WITHOUT the pinpoint GPS. If you bought the Xi5 with Pinpoint GPS, then you don't have to add the Pinpoint GPS as it already has it... but if you bought the non GPS model... you can turn it into a GPS model :)
