Filipino Reactor. Keeping it real and natural.
I am Nephi Acaling. I am native to Bacolod City but currently living outside the Philippines due to job assignment. I’ve lived in different countries like Singapore, Japan and United States due to job assignments. I was in the US when I started this channel thus the confusion to some where I am truly based.
At a time, I was a band vocalist performing every Friday and Saturday night at a local bar chain but recently decided to quit from my band to focus on my RUclips Channel and my full-time job as an engineer.
I was a member of the Filipino Voice Symphony where I was taught by professional chorale singers (e.g. former soprano from UP Madrigal Singers). Our choral group actually bagged the Gold Medal in the International A cappella Championships held in Singapore in 2011.
I was the Glee Club president and was a trainer for various singing competitions when I was in the university - all these were humbling experiences for me.
WHAT IS THE GOAL?
My mission is to promote music among different regions and try to make people from different countries relate to each other through music and singing. I have always believed that even small gestures in understanding similarities and differences towards others may actually lead to greater awareness about countries and their people.
In this modern world full of things that divide humanity, it is but perfect to put efforts in re-uniting and building bridges among all of us.
I have come to a point of trying to find a greater purpose in life, something beyond just being happy for a moment. Happiness in life is more meaningful if we choose to be useful, be honorable, be compassionate, and make a difference.
From deep inside our heart, we have to say thank you for your attention, reviews, comments, and respect. Thank u for giving us such a gift to be reviewed from all of you. They are from South Maluku, they always called " Ambonese", same with Ruth Sahanaya and Glenn Fredly, there are also so many Indonesian singer from this land, they are biggest rival of North Sumatran singer. Their physical like a little bit like Afro American people right? Many of them have black voice. North Sumatra from West Indonesia, South Maluku from East Indonesia.
Don't get me wrong, but North Sumatera and Ambon/Moluccas mostly are christians. Beside of natural talent, most of them are parts of their church's choirs and took atleast some basic vocal lessons since they were children. So no wonder both North Sumatera and Moluccas are famous for their vocalist/musician and become Indonesian pride.
Don't forget about east Nusa Tenggara and Papua they are also known for their amazing vocals

Damn damn damn! The beautiful song was recycle coz this is the old song. And u know what? The original singer is come from Medan, North Sumatra named Christine Pandjaitan but now presented by a new singer in a very interesting arrangement 😀. Wow it was epic!

Most of Indonesian music have more International vibes with more advance & sophisticated in taste & technics, while most of Malaysian music still thick with traditional Melayu ambiance. & style. ( it’s make a good example for knowing the roots of Melayu musics ).
Thats why Indonesian music more accepted in Asean region especially in Singapore, Malaysia & Brunei ( regions with same Melayu roots ) even in The Philipines now adays.
From 1980’s until now, Indonesian musicians ( singers, Band, songwriters, music composers) has gripped most of their ( Malaysia , Singapore & Brunei) Pop music industries.
And They're Frome Mollucas. East Indonesia...Same Like Glenn Fredly,Ruth Sahanya and Many more 😊.Mollucas Is Known as a produce of good singers. there are many good singers comes from Mollucas beside North Sumatra....And There's Papua As well....you should react to Nowela And The other Singers Singing WE ARE THE WORLD.

This one is not a cover...rendition is exactly what is this. The core of the song is still there but they make it into complicated things~ this is old song of Indonesian Pop which is lasting around 80's-middle 90's.

Many Eastern Indonesian singers know how to manipulate melodies with blues vibe and of course, sing in harmony.
Then came private broadcasters. They had no intention to educate public. As long as the programs they air got big attention from viewers and gained monetizing commercials, that's all what they care.
Harmonization? Songs with sophisticated chord progressions? Syncopated beats? Hell, public could careless. Many of 'em are ignorant enough to even sing in tune let alone what harmony is about. Dangdut is the answer. You don't even need to know if the singers are out of tune. Singers will easily mask it by bending, sliding and/or gliding the notes. Just take a look on dangdut singing contests. No term of technicality is being used to assess the singers. Do the viewers even care? Hell no! Dangdut singers don't need to learn music subject at the university.
Dangdut and cheap sense of humour go hand in hand. That's how broadcasters reap the money.
What happened to songs with sophisticated progression? Fortunately, they have their own crowd. Well-trained-ear listeners wouldn't mind paying for a semi private concert. They can afford it. We have jazz festivals. Comparing jazz and dangdut crowd we can tell which ones come from a civilized society.
Traditional Eastern Indonesian songs have many western influences. Many can sing in harmony effortlessly, just like our neighbors Philippines, supposedly.
