All I can say is, if you're not crying, you have a black heart or no heart at all! Little Jimmy Dickens had the ability to make you a part of a song. This is no exception. My eyes are red & blurry, and I'll listen to this again, and I'll cry again.
The country tearjerker...a classic of country music...most have the element bad luck meets coincidence or an arsehole parent or a rotten kid...but the saddest ones are when none of these elements occur. The sincerity in Jimmy's performance is amazing. I could imagine not a dry eye in the house.
Heard it in a little bar In bar Waldorf Md. years ago . Never seen my dad cry. But he brought the whole place to tears with that doll. Anybody that doesn't tear up to that. Not a human. RIP Little Jimmy Dickens and Raggedy Ann.
Beautiful. You know, I've always felt that Jimmy would have made a fine actor, as well as a singer. And this song definitely brings out his abilities. R.I.P. Tator.
This song/ recitation was tailor made for Little Jim. I can't think of anyone who could have done it any better. I also have to mention the superb steel backing from Hal Rugg. Thank You Randall!!!
Now that's country music at its best with a great singer he sure is miss
AS A GROWN MAN I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT LISTENING TO THIS SONG BROUGHT MANY TEARS TO MY EYES.
That little Raggedy Ann doll went to heaven with him, he was buried with it…😢
The best song ever recorded RIP Jimmy
Love you
