Awesome video Rich, i get my grom tomorrow and this morning i ordered the HR shocks for it and here you go making a video with the same shocks. I always enjoy everything you share with the rc community. Thank you so much for sharing the esc and motor, now i know what to order next.
Thanks so very much Brother 🤗. Good call on the HR shocks. Emulsion style for the win 👌. Nice they included extra spring options and have set pivot balls. Guys could lose the ARRMA ones if their shock pops off or if they're not careful during disassembly. 🍻
Wow what absolute little BEAST! Holy crap 💩 man that little rig is pretty durable. This video like your others was awesome 👏🏻! Thanks for the information on this brushless system. Great performance for the money I think. Thanks again and keep it coming
Awesome run. It's almost like Arrma made the Typhon Grom for the skate park. Every time I go to a skate park I break something but not with the Grom. They are incredible. 👍🏆
What a little ripper the fam and I watched this in the truck on a little road trip this morning. My wife couldn’t believe you did that loopy loop thing Lol. awesome run my friend tough little Truck.
Thanks so very much Brother Aldo 🤗. The 3/4 pipe transfer is super challenging with these rippers 😱😂. They're so light they lose traction off the top part of the loop because the tiny shocks unload early compared to a normal rig. The wind also blows them around 😂. Such a fun little animal 😍. Have a great road trip and weekend Bro!!! 🍻😎💪👊👊
Bro you make a cheap RC look sooooo good, your RC Skatepark skills are insane! Arrma just dominating the smaller RC market with these... There are other off brand RC that are maybe this tough, but being arrma the parts are way more available and you can swap arms and all that creating hybrids as well..... Therefore really taking over the small RC market. A few of these would be super fun with the boys 😎👍
Thanks so much Brother Dennis 🤗. These little rippers are so much fun!!! The price point is perfect for entry level with crazy performance. Not ideal for bigger rough terrain, but awesome fun for front yard and smooth surface ripping. Can't wait to get Andrew out soon 😍
Thanks Rich, that is the video I wanted to see with these Groms. I figured there would be a brushless system to add to these cars to make them more peppy and what has impressed me the most is the durability on concrete with that bash session. Very awesome. I have a feeling that Arrma with the popularity of these Groms, will introduce a BLX brushless version soon. That might be something to wait for. Thanks again.
Man these little rippers are fun even straight out of the box. Perfect starter rigs and super quick with a brushless setup 🚀🚀. Great to hear about the quality family time Brother 😍
Great video man I love the granite tires on the typhon grom it looks epic. I can’t believe it didn’t break in half on those coping hits. Thing totally rips 🤘
Thanks so much Brother 🤗. Loving the Granite tires on her. Definitely way more air control. The chassis design is very sturdy with this little ripper 😍🤙🤙
Killer breakdown and skatepark rips brother Rich! Those super smooth transitions are just ridiculously satisfying 😍🤗. NGL I had my doubts about this platform at first but damn! Arrma nailed it so beautifully with these little monsters! The Fun factor is off the chain! 😜. The affordability and durability are there for sure.
Thanks so very much Brother Chris 🤗. I couldn't help but add a couple more of these little rippers to the fleet. The box stock brushed system is ultra smooth and peppy, but the speed and quickness with brushless is nuts 😂. ARRMA nailed it with this platform!!! 🍻😎💪👊👊
Great, The benefit in using a small upgraded grom is that the weight is so small that the damage is little if any and in addition the parts are cheap. no need for upgraded parts and the electronics to make it ridiclusly fast is very very cheap. Love the initiative to show the little cars love in the skate park. Not enough emphasis on the youtube on this usecase other than cheap Chinese cars. This is awesome.
Thank you Brother and agree with your take on these Groms. Small, stylish, and mad fun overall with impressive performance and capability. Simple upgrades without breaking the bank. These tiny rippers can slice through the skateparks. Not the best for handling bigger coping, but they adapt well and take a considerable hammering 😂
Air control baby 👍🦅. A typhon is my next try . The granite has been so much fun off a ramp and overall . Don’t lose that swivel ball from the shock ! The 1/10 sizes but these are cool .
hay rich. dang after watching your work of art, Im thinking im going to have to have one. you make it look easy. you must have the magic in your fingers. lol i think i'll get the same setup. a perfect skatepark blaster. thanks Brou. stay cool down there. Have Fun
Thanks so very much Brother 🤗. Love this HW 6500 setup with the granite tires. I'll probably swap out my Spectrum 6000kv for it in my rig. It's 110F here today, but I'm staying cool in the AC 😂
@@richduperbash2966 so i liked what i did with your grom. Fast. You mention a 60000kv. what would you pair with it. I been looking up and find a 6500kv with a 85A ESC combo. $103. is that what your talking about. or completely differentiae idea
I was referring to the 6000kv Spectrum 2 in 1 Motor/ESC combo that's in my Typhon. It's starting to cog. I highly recommend the Hobbywing 6500kv setup I ran and covered in this video. It's very light and runs cool and only costs around 60$ for the motor and ESC.
Yo man that thing rips!! Best grom video ive seen by far! I might buy a granite grom or typhon and make it brushless. If I want it to do backflips easy should I go with 6500 kv and 2s or 4500kv with 3s? I even have 2 traxxas vxl systems laying around but think they are 4000kv. I come from a e revo 1/16 so I want similar performance in backflips etc because that one is crazy good at that. You earned a sub because of your amazing driving man!
Thanks so much Brother 🤗. I'd think either setup would afford easy backflips. My inclination is to stay 2s and probably use a 4500kv on 3s in the heavier Mojave. 🍻
Insane driving skills, brother 👊🏼👊🏼. Pound for pound (or ounce for ounce lol), could this possibly be the toughest RC you've ever put through the paces? Especially in mostly stock form (power system aside). I'm dumbfounded at the abuse it took and the absolute hammered landings, it absorbed - and it just kept on driving. Crazy!
Thanks so very much Brother 👊. So impressed with the performance and durability!!! This could certainly be a contender ounce for once 😂. Weighing less than 2 lbs definitely has its advantages for agility and taking hits. That said, ARRMA deserves credit for the design 💪. The chassis is super rigid along with the center brace/shaft cover. The handling is superb too 👌
Love this video brother.. you convinced me to get the typhoon.. btw .. is the skate park your bashing in, is it in Rocklin Ca? I live in the Sac area, and I’m looking for areas to race/bash in.. thanks
What a little monster. She’s rocking with that hobbywing system. The typhon grom handles and bashes better than the Mojave right? I’m about to buy one and your answer will be the one I go for.
She's a ripper for sure with the Hobbywing 👀. The Typhon will handle crisper no question and have better manners jumping with the ultra light buggy body. Can't say it's more fun than the Mojave, just depends on preference. For ripping around, the Mojave platform is super fun 😍. Still haven't had a chance to rip mine yet, hopefully soon.

I have three questions. One, how did you get the motor to 120 without destroying it? The manual says to keep it under 100. Second, will a Losi 18t 0.5m 2mm shaft work for the motor? I own a Typhon grom and want to ensure the motor shaft doesn't snap. Heard others have but idk if its with Hobbywing or any other brand. And how fast is this brushless setup?
Brushless motors don't implode or even weaken unless you run them over 160-170F on a regular basis. I'm bashing in 105-110F ambient temps so not exceeding 100F is physically impossible. The Losi .5 mod 2mm shaft fits the 2mm Hobbywing motor shaft as does the Robinson Racing option. Stock brushed motor is 2.3mm. I haven't clocked a speed yet. Just found my GPS yesterday so hopefully soon. It's fast enough for my taste.
@@richduperbash2966 That sounds nice. Good thing I don’t need to worry too much about high temps in my typhon grom. Can’t wait to try the setup out once I solder a deans connected to the esc. This should definitely run over 30 mph with the 6500kv setup.
They feel pretty close top speed. The Hobbywing setup is way smoother and more powerful. I'm no longer recommending the 6000kv Spectrum. It's starting to cog.

Gday mate can I ask you to do a small favour for me... could you check if the typhon body will mount to the mojave chassis and or if the mojave bumpers will go on the typhon chassis?
The Typhon and Mojave have the same wheelbase, but have different chassis, mounts, and towers. You have to pick one or the other to fit the bodies correctly. It appears the bumpers are interchangeable.
Make sure to perform a "throttle setup" per the ESC manual (neutral, full throttle, full brake). Basically calibrates the controller to the ESC so you have smooth power delivery and full range through the trigger.
I've broken two Robinson Racing 18T 0.5 mod pinions and almost worn out a spur gear using a Hobbywing 2435 motor. Running on 2S. Is it something to do with my ESC setting or should I go easy on the throttle?
I just busted my first RR pinion in my Losi Nascar Grom 😱. I'm starting to wonder if there might be a spec issue with these mini pinions. Either a quality problem or a minute mismatch between the pinion cut and the stock spur gear 🤔. One RR pinion I tried had a noticable wobble as if the bore was actually off from 2mm. Testing a KingVal 4600mah 2440 motor. It plugs into the HW ESC no problem and has a 2.3mm shaft allowing use of the longer ARRMA Grom pinions. Feels much smoother in a test roll with the stock gears.
Just test ripped the KingVal and it feels stronger and smoother with a 22T ARRMA pinion. Got 140F motor and 110F ESC after a full pack of hard running and drifting. By the way, I'm thinking the Losi 0.5 mod 2mm pinions fit the Hobbywing 2435 motors better.
@@richduperbash2966 Yup. Mine feels wobbly. Probably something wrong with the batch of RR gears then. I also tried a Surpass 2440 motor and broke the stock pinion too but thats because I bumped the buggy into a wall. My bad.
I just installed my Hobbywing esc and motor and all the misc stuff. Thanks a lot for your guide! Life saver! Does your motor heat sink touch your motor completely? I used a channel lock to bend the heat sink but it doesn't wrap around the motor.
@richduperbash2966 I finally ran my brushless setup today. All thanks to you 🙏🏻🙏🏻. 2S is plenty of power in terms of weight vs speed of this car. I'm probably not going to touch my 4S RTR cars for a while. This is my first mod project and it's rather meaningful. Many thanks once again.
So I installed the exact same electronics onto my typhon and I’m disappointed. I keep having some cogging even with the punch at level 5. At random times the car just slows down or just stops and then it rapidly accelerates.
That's weird 🤔. Make sure to calibrate the controller to the ESC (neutral, full throttle, full brake) under "throttle setup" in the manual. It's possible there's a glitch happening if your steering servo is failing 🤔. My other thought is the receiver having fits. I'm still using a Tactic TTX300 controller and receiver and my 6500kv HW setup has been awesome. No cogging, just smooth direct power.
@@richduperbash2966 I have the throttle setup and it works fine. The car slowing down and then rapidly moving is a result of the LVC kicking in. I set it at 3.4v for safety reasons. The grom is fine but the real legitimate problem comes from the surging if I press full throttle at lvl 9 punch it goes fine then it just goes really fast. Another issue is with cogging. Cogging usually happens at low speed and I've tried changing from 15 degrees to 11.25 around that. The timing helped a bit but not much. I'm thinking to my hobby shop and have them fine tune it and maybe gear down on the pinion. 18t could be just too much for this.
@@richduperbash2966 Yea, hopefully I can solve at least most of it. Considering it’s a sensorless motor it will have some clogging but I’ll accept that.
I wasn't interested in these groms but man I tell u what...just watching your video got me feeling some type of way 😂 that hobbywing rips ! I appreciate your reply and looking forward to a speed test !
The problem with putting that much power in these small r.c. is they eat pinion gears and drive trains. I cannot find parts strong enough to handle the extra rpm so if you do mod them you'll be replacing parts all the time.. They're just not meant to go that fast.
Probably more so in high traction conditions. I haven't had an issue so long as there's some wheel spin and I'm somewhat judicious with the throttle. Still running the stock diffs and drivetrain. Plenty fast on 2s with these tiny brushless motors.

Metal or stock plastic diffs?
Still running stock diffs.
Hope you get it sorted my friend 🤗. I haven't touched the timing and think I left my LVC on auto detection.
@@richduperbash2966 Yea, hopefully I can solve at least most of it. Considering it’s a sensorless motor it will have some clogging but I’ll accept that.
I also run a Dumborc x6 transmitter with the gyro.
$140 + another say $ 100. Hmm I cant remember what I paid for my brushless mini revo but I know for sure it was more than $240.
What's top speed on it Rich ?
I'll have to charge my GPS and check. It's fast enough to get very squirrelly at full speed 😂. I'll let you know what speed I get 🍻
I wasn't interested in these groms but man I tell u what...just watching your video got me feeling some type of way 😂 that hobbywing rips ! I appreciate your reply and looking forward to a speed test !
What’s the speed on your son right now on 2s?
Roughly 35mph
@@richduperbash2966 Nice!
Well I just speed tested with GPS and it hit 44 mph on a partial charge and short pass😂. Guess it's faster than I realized. 🍻
@@richduperbash2966 oh wow I actually had that same motor esc setup but the motor shaft broke in half for some reason it’s been common
Well that sucks. Were you using a 2mm shaft pinion like Losi or Robinson Racing?
The problem with putting that much power in these small r.c. is they eat pinion gears and drive trains. I cannot find parts strong enough to handle the extra rpm so if you do mod them you'll be replacing parts all the time.. They're just not meant to go that fast.
Probably more so in high traction conditions. I haven't had an issue so long as there's some wheel spin and I'm somewhat judicious with the throttle. Still running the stock diffs and drivetrain. Plenty fast on 2s with these tiny brushless motors.
6500kv stock gearing on 2s and it only hits 120????? Something's not right
I have a 4600kv with 16t on 2s and it gets hot after hard driving
What's wrong is you're under geared for 4600kv and revving out. Try going up several teeth or run it on 3s if it's rated 2-3s.
That's a zippie little thing
Yeah 2s is plenty with these crazy light Typhon's 😍
