    - What did you do yesterday?

    Can I use it interchangeable?
    Could you explain them for me how and when to use them?
    Thank you.

      - What did you do yesterday day? + Is talking about the events or situations in the past that completely finished.
      - What were you doing yesterday?
      + It shows us that this question is asking for the answer which relates to the past events that were happening nom stop nor have not finished in thes past.

    If there is a clear order of events that happened in the past, we use Past Simple. Events that took place one after another.
    But if something happened in the past and we want to say that another event took place and finished earlier than first one, we use Past Perfect.

    I think "my train left when I got to the station" more than me arriving first and the train leaving after that, it would be more I arrived and the train left right at that moment. Simultaneous actions, more than me arriving as a first action and the train leaving after. Otherwise, I would have taken the train and wouldn't have missed it 😅

    Please, tell me for you are trusted.

    • @rubina1377

      Past perfect can also be used.
      The sentences "My train left before I got to the station" and "My train had left before I got to the station" both are correct.

    • @rubina1377
      @rubina1377 4 месяца назад +1

      The sentence without had left is grammatically correct but the one with had left makes the sequence of events clearer

    • @rubina1377
      @rubina1377 4 месяца назад +1

      The one without "had" is commonly used and casual.
      The one with "had" is more precise and emphasizes that one action happened before the other. It highlights event sequence clearly, which is important in formal grammar contexts

As in the very last example, the word "then" it is enough to make the order clear . At least to me it is the same logic. I look forward to your answer Thank you
