Linda, I had cataract surgery on both eyes in 2022, 3 weeks apart. No pain at all. The biggest pain is having to put eye drops in for a few weeks after the surgery. The opthalmalogist asked me if I wanted better distance vision or better close up vision. I chose improved distance vision. I no longer need glasses for driving, watching TV or at the movies. I do need reading glasses when using the computer, reading books, reading labels. Cataract surgery is very commonplace surgery after age 65.
My “best friend” bought the mouth tape for me when she visited me last time. Did not work at all. But after a sleep study, I now use a CPaP with a nose only mask. If you stick with it through the first week, it will really pay off.
I had both eyes done and everything went well with no pain. Months later I was having trouble seeing things at a slight distance. Thank goodness I went to my doctor. He explained that a film sometimes forms over where the cataract was. You will probably not deal with this, however, I figured it is best you know. I had painless laser surgery and the problem was immediately corrected. All the best!
I am a single widow. I moved here as a widow. I found the Villages Widow group and we have over 400 members. It is an awesome group to meet wonderful new friends who have at least one thing in common.
I couldn’t tolerate the C-Pap. In the sleep study they went on to Bi-Pap that I did sleep with, but my best sleep was with a self adjusting I-Vap that monitors my breathing and adjusts. I needed to tape my mouth shut. None of the tape with a slit worked. I’d fall asleep and my mouth would part enough that I turned into a fountain, spitting all over myself…that will wake you up! So I now have a chin strap, solid dental tape holding my mouth shut, the nose masks giving me air and sleep great. It took 6 weeks before I could sleep with it. I tried but I needed more equipment to keep my mouth from opening. My Doctor said to not give up…I’d tried years ago and gave up! I now need it to keep my oxygen level up so I wore it late afternoon, then moved to between 6 pm and 10, trying to sleep…without the tape and chin strap I kept waking myself up within seconds of dozing off. There are lots of options to help on Amazon!
All my friends and relatives who had cataract surgery said it was quick, easy and no pain. One friend got one eye done and didn’t like seeing them working on her eye, everyone else said just don’t concentrate on that. She’s looking forward to getting the second eye done because she sees so much better with the eye that is done.
I am recovering from left eye cataract surgery 8 days ago. My right eye surgery is scheduled on Monday. I purchased the toric lenses and he did mono vision so I can see up close and far away without glasses. My vision is getting better and better. No pain at all. 🙏
A quick heads up about driving to the airport, (you probably already know this but just in case some folks don’t). You can change the settings on your Google maps when using it for directions to avoid tolls, or avoid highways, etc. You may spend a little more time on the road going a different route, but you often won’t have to deal with so much congestion or frustration. Cheers dears, and thanks for the video…you make my week better.
Hello to a happy couple spreading joy! BTW. Blue looks good on both of you! Thank you for your entertaining, positive, and constructive channel. I always look forward to your channel news and lively convo. Love your channel. 🤗👏
Almost to 70k. That’s awesome. Just wanted to say. One can develop allergies at ANYTIME in life. Most presume it only happens in youth. I hope you get to the specific allergen. It’s sometimes tricky to find which is causing the problem. Good luck Linda. You look great. Good luck with your cataract surgery. And Jerry is right, I rarely drink canned soda. It does taste different. I think the bottling companies need to return using glass. The plastic isn’t good for us either.
i did both eyes cataract surgery last Sept here in the villages. They dilate your eyes etc. I did it at St. Lukes they are great. Jerry will need to pick you up its all outpatient. so easy and glad i did it. I live alone they even arrange transportation to and from my home in Hawkins. its really easy.
Watching late I had mine done just had lens not the lasic too many of my friends had issues with that after cataract surgery I still need glasses though it took me four years to get comfortable with my cpap and find the right mask my my friend had to go to the Miami VA took the bright line from Orlando she loved it
Loved when you used the term cowlick... My mother from Ireland always used that term on me when she tried to comb my hair back into shape... I had the dreaded cowlick working!.. Never heard anyone use that term except my mother... Long live the cowlick! Lol🍀
Missed the live so team replay. Glad you both better. Can’t comment on a live replay. I would be afraid of my comment 😂. Gonna watch and enjoy. Have a great evening.
Linda you are so funny. LOL Tape your mouth shut? I have sleep apnea. You don't hear yourself snore but my kids would tell me when I was staying with them so I had a sleep study and to my surprise I had mild sleep apnea and now use a C-PAP machine. I was able to do the study in my own home also so that was good. Please get this done. Vicki 🙂
Hey Linda-had cataract surgery in 2018 and you will love it. if you are nearsighted get the multi-foucus lenses and you will not need any glasses or contacts for distance and reading.. Let me know if you have any questions
Late to live but great show!!!!!!JERRY u so right men don't care for independent strong women.....I feel it's the era we grew up in..I THINK both of u look rested and back to being happy.Medical issues and caregiving a wrench In the road but u guys moving on very well...Sound much improved!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
There are new CPAP machines that are much quieter than the previous ones. Many different types of face and nose masks, so if one doesn't work there are other choices.
Say what you want about Florida drivers, when I lived in Knoxville and drove to Chicago for work meetings, my coworkers and I agreed that the worst drivers were those in Indiana. They loved to stay in the left lane going below the speed limit.
Nice to see your smiling faces. Paul gets regular allergy shots back in Calif. I have a pesky cowlick. Walked around the square and saw some great shows earlier but came home when the sun went down. Your show finished just in time for us to tune into Brownwood Paddock and see the tree lighting!🎄✨ Last year we caught every single square tree lighting in person. check✅ Paul drinks whether you're on or not, lol. Linda, you are the cat's meow!🐱 Everyone i know who has had cataract surgery has been pleased.💖
Get the best lens possible. Do everything they say to do. Give yourself time to recover and after 6 to 8 weeks then you will be glad you did it. You will need Jerry to help with the drops. You will do great! 😊
The eye sees things that are more foggy, like a film on your eye. You want to rub your eye to clear it but it is like something is in your eye but it gets worse as time goes on. If you google it, people tell you what it feels and what you see. Hard to see in traffic with glaring light. Like halos. My brother got both eyes done, my sister and my mother. No pain whatsoever to get it done. I need it now too. Scared? Not me. But they want you to get interveinious pain meds. for anxiety. Up to you.
Well, My wife had both eyes done, and Medicare will not pay for laser surgery, only the knife surgery! The scars from the scalpel were reported to take longer to heal and impar your vision afterwards. Well I paid for the laser surgery in both eyes, which are done one at a time. The extra $6000.00 in costs associated with this, and still we know have a film growing over the special lens in one eye, and slowly growing over the other eye! We are now schedule for a third surgery in the office to clean up the film on one eye!

Jerry and Linda, have you ever gone to Savannah, GA for St. Patrick Day Parade? Beautiful and awesome city with wonderful people throughout!
We went once, a long time ago.
Try Longhorn.
Flo's Filet delish.
Also, the Longhorn salmon is good.
Both have 2 sizes to choose from

It's not terrible. Get the multi focal lenses. Yes they cost more but it's better.
Oh, did you cover any of your new landscape plants with our frosty weather?
No.
I’m with Linda, I prefer glass for my drinks!

Linda, teach Jerry to put your makeup on for you!
Love your show while drinking my Bourbon Manhattan (up)!
