It seems like, at first, they go into "full on attack" mode, and once the nest is obliterated, it's almost as if they are completely panicked and trying to salvage whatever they can, with attacking you almost secondary to salvaging.
I'm so fascinated by their behavior...Do they just die off once the colony is destroyed, or do they re-home?
    Nice work...your very brave!
The way that they were all over your ankles was very unsettling and I applaud you staying focused. I would of freaked at that point.
    Nice work.

I finally figured out after several days of vacuuming ever more (hundreds) of yellow jackets out from the nest next to the front stoop that they were hatching out faster than they could be vacuumed.
The entrance to the nest was on fairly flat ground next to a yew bush. I cleared some of the dead branches out of the way, got a $10 cake of dry ice, a small plastic tub and a brick. After dark: The dry ice over the entrance, the tub over the dry ice and the brick on top of the tub.
The theory is CO2 heavier the air seeps down into the nest displacing oxygen killing the adults, larvae and pupas. Two days later they seem to be gone. I'll leave the tub & brick in place until the snow flies.

At the point it was located, and not near any flammables other than the nest, I would have considered starting a charcoal BBQ and when the coals were ready, roll them in for a bug bake, then fill it in. No pesticides needed and guaranteed to kill the nest.

I park my truck closer then anyone else gets and take my suit off there.!I actually have done this for a living for 7 years never had a customer or neighbor get stung during a removal. • @wasphunter7131
      @wasphunter7131  4 года назад +1

Depending on the location of the nest you might not get them. They dug their way there they can always dig a new exit. And even when your able to reach the nest with the spray it typically won’t kill off the larva so a few days later and they are back. Removing the nests removes the chance of them coming back

I spray them at one point towards the end I don’t mind getting swarmed and not having to dig and search for the nest in mud really makes it 1000x easier not to mention being able to see where they are coming and going

Why don't you treat them were the nest is. This way you don't hove 50,00000 piss off yellow jackets flying all over the neighborhood. There is no honey in there so there wont be any smell .

i never understand homeowners waiting until you see a huge swarm. Once you see a couple going in a crack that is the time for ythe magic white dust. Problem solved. I usually end of killing around 5 nests a year. But always when they just getting started.

Try wearing boots with your suit pant over them. No lace holes. Tape if you have to. And thanks for cleaning up the language.

Skyker yeah sadly I’m still only in my second month on RUclips and still using my iPhone for most of the filming Mobile options for video editing are not too good. I’m hoping to upgrade my cameras and editing software for next season

But for anyone starting out that is wondering I use 2 apps for my vid editing I use
      1. Splice (this allows me to add title cards and add multiple vids into one)
      2. iMovie (this app is built into all iOS devices and I use it to edit and bit out of the vid and allows me to upload in 720-1080)

Why didn't you cover the inside with powder ,90% would have died then go back and clean up ,do your job properly and stop trying to make it entertainment

I do pest control after I removed the nest I power sprayed under there sure heavy to prevent return it’s a one time service here don’t worry I remove them all and keep them all gone with 1 treatment

Absolutely worst wasp video I have ever seen, no commentary, this is most important!, no editing before posting. Makes your head spin watching. This was a mean nest and you could have kept viewers more interested. You should learn from this and have someone else help you with what is palatable for viewing. Not saying quit just rethink the whole process. Sorry you got stung, I saw how aggressive these guys were trying to get into your shoes. Comment on that type of stuff. Anyone can make videos, making people come back is another tactic in it self. Wasp on!
