I think she comes from a single parent home. She has been singing since she was 1 1/2. I have always thought that someone was coaching her, but no one has given her background so far.
It says Directed by "Per Heimly" , he was the best friend of the former husband of Princess Martha that was found shot to death by apparent suicide.
Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 Loved your reaction!!!

Angelina won Norway got talent at the age of 7. She was exposed to jazz as her parents were listening to jazzrecords.she was only 2-3 years of age. She started ro listen to jazz on you tube. This is in a nutshell

I doubt she has ever had any training. Her parents have been strict in making sure she has had a normal childhood. She's a prodigy. Fearless. She sang Billie Holiday spot on at 7. At 10 her I'm Feeling Good is so beautiful. Her remake of Bohemian Rhapsody at 13 even got Queen's attention. She grew up listening to jazz. But obviously listened to lots of music. Not bad for a little girl whose first language is Norwegian. Many people like her covers of Lana del Rey and Adele better than the originals (I'm one).
I have listened to Angelina every day for 8 years...since she was 8. I have never become tired or bored of her due to the way she embodies different genre and vocal techniques yet maintains her distinctive individuality. I prefer many of her covers to the originals. BANG BANG..., IM HOLDING OUT GOR YOU, and STAY, not to mention this years Elvis cover SUSPICIOUS MINDS.

She is different, totaly diffrent.
She is acctually 9 years old when tjis was recorded, not 10 as most think. Not that it matters when it comes to her, I am sure dhe came out of her mother singing jazz.
She won Norways got talent when she was 8. Entered when she was 7. She was un a league of her own, it was clear when she opent her mouth and sung gloomy sunday by Billie Holiday, that she was already the winner.
She is known today, but not as much as one should expect, it is because she doesnt go all out to be that superstar that she one day really want to be. Her parents are holding her back, in a very good way. They want her to have a solid normal childhood, not be a superstar. But she do take singing lessons.
She is 13 now.

I could not agree more. I saw her first when she performed on Norway's got talent at 7, as she turned 8 during that seasons competition. and OMG I was completely blown away. Her version of Bang Bang ans Summer time send chills up my spine. AMAZING!!!

Since Angelina is new to you and maybe some of your followers, here's a quick bio:
- Angelina Jordan was born in Jan 2006. She is currently 13 (barely 9 in this performance)
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through RUclips videos and studied all greats from Jazz history.
- When Angelina was 6, she was traveling and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. The girl complimented her on her pretty shoes, so Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public she is barefoot. (that's a shortened version. the full story is more touching than the way I have told it here)
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the money, the 8 year old replied "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 80 songs over the last 5 years, everything ranging from old classics to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, and many more. All of which heard her doing covers of their songs and were blown away.
- Angelina has written three of her own original songs (at 12 years old): "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

Earworms are what you get when you listen to music that is so beautiful you cannot get it out of your head. After listening to the many recordings and videos that Angelina Jordan has made, I have earworms that keep me entertained and amazed throughout my day and in my dreams at night. She is destined to be a superstar!

I have been following Angelina since she won Norway's Got Talent at age 7. You asked about her parents. Neither is a musician. She has been drawn to jazz from age of 3. Look up jer acapella audition for Norway's got Talent.
Her Iranian grandmother, who was a child art prodigy, used to take care of her when she as a kid. Grandma had a large music collection and they used to listen to it together. She was apparently a huge influence in her life. When her grandmother was ready for college, she had asked her parents to send her to Japan for college because she loved Japanese art. There she met a japanese art professor who she married and Angelina's mother was born. Her mother married a Swedish oil engineer and they lived in Norway when her marriage ended. Her daughter, obviously inherited the family's knack for genius. They all supported Angelina's musical passion,even to the point of entering her into Norway's GotTalent. After she won, which I imagine was a surprize, they were very cautious in how the made her available to the public but obviously spent a great deal of money training her. Lately they seem to have made her more available to the public.

Angelina I’d say is a prodigy. She’s a singer, plays the flute, piano and violin and has also written a book. She’s just 13.
Angelina has an uncanny ability to grasp the essence of song - and a wide array of them. She usually sings them, old and new tunes, as well or better than the original artists; and that in her preteen years. She a touched-by-God once in a lifetime artist in my opinion; a real gift for all of us.

Angelina is a heavy weight singer even at her very young age, she is not just a good child singer she is a phenomenal singer period. She can handle in any song no matter the genre, but her jazz singing capabilities are simply out of this world.. Your reaction wars priceless as a musician myself I had the same reaction. well-said ... She found jazz playing on youtube when she was very young. I can't think of a superlative grand enough. A hundred years from now her's is the voice singers will seek to emulate.
She can mimic, impersonate other singer voices. It's not a gimmick. She sometimes connects so strongly with the original singer they share the same voice.
@@millieo7155 No. If you think it's simple mimicry, you haven't heard enough of her. She has her own, unique take on every song. She's very good at catching and preserving the feel of the original, but also adds a lot to it. She seems to "absorb" the songs into herself, thus changing both herself and the song. Something like that. It's beyond me.
Her parents in Norway let her decide what she liked to do and about age 2 she heard her parents play old jazz records.She fell in love with Billy Holiday and her songs and would listen to them and other jazz records for hours. She says when she sings she goes to a place in her mind that's beautiful and she feels very free.She's written a few songs, "Shield" and "What is Life". I love her version of "What a Difference a Day Makes", Fly Me To The Moon", "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)", "A Million Years Ago" and "Back to Black".
She is a pupil at Oslo Waldorf School Oslo Waldorf School and also attends the after-school program Oslo School of Music and
Performing Art where she receives vocal training. In addition to singing she plays the piano, violin and flute.
Angelina said herself that she found most of the cover songs herself when she got access to an iPad when she was very young. She found a lot of songs she liked on RUclips. Then she decided to sing some of them. So RUclips was her main source for jazz songs etc.
Angelina's family moved to LA in March 2018. Angelina goes to school in LA now and just finished Middle school. One reason to move to LA was to be able to improve her music development. E. g. finding the best voice teachers possible for her.
Another to build relations with important people in the music business. Already her manager has relations to people like Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson and David Foster.
It will be easier to become a superstar from LA than Oslo.

By the way, great reaction. This was the first song I ever heard from her as well, and I was hooked from the first note. I spent 40 years as a professional musician and vocalist (far in the past now) and I have never heard another talent like hers. Her solo performances, just her sitting at home with a single guitar player accompanying her are beyond good.

Her parents are not musicians. Her grandma love the old jazz style. At very early age she got an iPad and found her music on RUclips. She always decide herself what to sing. She plays a lot of instruments and at 12 she made her own music. Oslo, what is life and shield. You have a lot of covers to pick from! You could try It’s a mans world. I like the point you make about how surprising it is that someone so young can have absorbed so much *essence* of music. Not just knowledge. Many kids have listened to a lot since very young, but very few, like Angelina and Grace Vanderwaal, have the special ability to take in deep down what can be done with different genres. A part of true talent.

I can't find words that would justify how talented and amazing that lovely singer Angelina Jordan is. So, I will say that, she is from out of this world talented singer, she really hypnotizes, with her beauty & her incomparable BEAUTIFUL voice.

There is not much more that I can add to the comments except to say that you are officially ANGELINAFIED! You can never go wrong with her and there is so much to choose from! An added advantage is more subscribers as we all go wherever we see a new reactor, just because it is worth the price of admission to see a first timer discover her! As far as the video itself, the original was written and performed by Screamin Jay Hawkins in 1956, was filmed in black and white(that is him on the candle), but poorly performed in my opinion(I was around for it)! All that aside I have heard almost every cover of this song that has been recorded and Angelina has set the bar so high that it will take another prodigy just to match this performance! I believe that Hawkins sat up in his coffin when he heard this and said" Finally someone got it!"

To add to all the excellent bio information on her-- a t.v. station in Norway followed her when she was wowing the judges and fans and Angelina and her Mom visited a shop she really liked....it still has vinyl records of great Jazz artists and Angelina has always had that jazz voice (the only way I can explain what her voice is able to do). Insofar as I know only her grandmother was a vocalist.

Started singing age 2, won Norway’s got talent, auditioned with billie holiday’s Gloomy Sunday, she learned initially by watching RUclips clips of jazz and she is worth watching doing her early stuff.

I came home one day when my mother looked after her. She was just over 18 months old and sang a Whitney Huston song in bed. I almost got shock. It was so beautiful! We quickly realized she was very interested in music. It is she who is primarily musical in the family. Neither my husband nor I are particularly musical, Sara continues.

SaWD She loves Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and all the old classics. She went to record stores and looked for old jazz singers from when she was around 4. She wasnt influenced by her parents, she chose it herself. She has also looked for these old jazz singers on RUclips. She really has an old soul and is like no one else. For Christmas her wish was always to get old Vinyl records by all the great jazz singers from old times cause she loves to listen to that special sound.

She always performs in bare feet in tribute to poor children who don't have a future. Please check out and review Angelina singing Billie Holliday. Fantastic news! Angelina has just been named as a contestant on America's Got Talent the Champions taking place in January. This is her first Major Performance in the United States since she was a child, but now an aspiring star. She has a new album of Originals coming soon and this may tie in in some way. If you were in that band, how many rehearsals would you have needed to (1) hold onto yer instrument after dropping it, and (2) remember where your parts were at in the song? I realize the sax soloist following her first stanza must have more years on his sax than she has on earth (9 years, at the time). I just can't imagine how many times those musicians dropped their jaws, forgot to breathe, etc, while listening to her vocals. In ITS A MAN'S WORLD, the orchestra leader is going on fine until the end, and he is swept up by her vocals, turns to her to watch and almost loses his place... so impressive. And in that performance, the orchestra had apparently been in the studio with her for an entire album's worth of music. And he's still blown away...

Interesting. Our young girl singers are looking for types of music to make theirs. IMHO Angelina should be identified with her jazz & blues tracks. (An adult audience.) Not exclusively -- a lot depends on her songwriting interests -- but there must be hundreds of great R & B songs around here, just waiting for the right singer to snatch them up. Angelina was just 10 in this video (now 13). She has three original songs Shield, What is Life, and Oslo. All excellent. Most of her covers are just fantastic. Some highlights, It's a Man's World, Back to Black, Valerie, Born to Die, Feeling Good . . . there is no point in listing them all, there are too many.
She also wrote original "age appropriate" lyrics for Amy Winehouse covers. Amazing talent

He has voice of over 6 octaves, sings in different genres (including opera, he is classically trained since age 5 and won his first piano competition at at 6). He sings in more than 10 languages :) You can start from SOS (Slavic Bazaar version) and then Love is Like A Dream from Sochi (Russia) :) I promise you will not regreat checking on him. I've watched a lot of Angelina, but I always come back to this performance as the most impressive performance of hers that I have seen. Another favorite of mine is "A Million Years Ago".
It immediately became my favourite when I first heard it and remained so until she recorded Queen's The Show Must Go On. Then my brain went into a turmoil and I struggled to make sense of the emotions which filled my being - which should now be favourite? Fortunately, common sense took over and I have now irrevocably decided that ALL of Angelina's recording are favourite. Problem solved :-)

Angelina is mature enough, even at her age, to recognise that this is best for her.
In my opinion she is the most versatile singer in the world today. She doesn't just "sing" a song, she lives it. She has the innate ability to express the emotions in the lyrics, without any hysterics, or having to search but never quite finding those high or low notes, It is as if she feels those emotions. As if the song is guiding her.

Heads up, she was 7.....Every beautiful note-phrase and intonation set aside for a moment, when she sings, ''It sends shivers down my spine'' is a spiritual sensation. She was born (maybe has a reincarnation or 2) with this raw emotional expression through singing (vocalist). This is not (can't be) taught. Yes she is a vocalist, but more, she is an artist of expression though her voice-emotion. I would think the souls like Amy Winehouse and other voice-expression artist have visited her. Whether she (or anyone else) knows it or not. She is ''star dust'' of emotional expression. Like seeing the Sistine Chapel, Mona Lisa or the statue of David for the first time.
