First visited in approx 1982. There used to be a single person bobsliegh course run down a hill. Handle between your legs that controlled the brake. Think it was situated where Oblivion is. Also down in that corner...where Enterprise has been, there was a dome with a 360 cinema show. Some people may even remember that on the big grassy lawn...there used to be a animal pit that had Sealions inside.

1994 was the best year for Alton Towers. And a year where the park is at its peak with Nemesis and Toyland Tours.

I will second that! It’s the year that sparked my interest in theme parks and roller coasters. Alton Towers had a special magic back then.

We used to go to Alton Towers on a school trip every year from Near Manchester from 1979 to 1984 . I remember a lad on the viking ship standing up and nearly falling out . Thanks for the memories.

And thank you for watching. The Pirate Ship is still at the park, just returned to The Blade. It’s the oldest operating ride at Alton Towers!

When you see the first part of the video with the monorail and the thunder looper what is the roller coaster you can see in the background on the right handside

It’s The New Beast after its relocation from Coaster Corner. The footage is actually from 1992, but I wanted to show the area before Nemesis construction started.
