Mark's power chords on the bass always suit Tom's melodies perfectly.
There will never be a band like Blink ever again, something about them made them the best at what they do, it's more about attitude than style or technical stuff. Will love Blink until the day I die

What I like about him is that he always seems happy to be playing his songs!

And Travis don’t forget about Travis. He is as OG as Scott Raynor. Travis was the one to challenge Mark/Tom/Matt as musicians. He said make a record like it’s the first blink album and untitled was created. He expressed concerns to how repetitive the band sounded and they recreated from scratch and Nine was made

One of my earliest memories of music is my dad playing this song on the living room speakers back in 99, I was like barely 4 yo and I jumped around everywhere. Years later I asked my dad for this cd again and I got seriously hooked to blink

One thing that I've always loved about Mark's style, aside from the obvious element of how punchy his downstrokes are, is how his chording style is so full sounding and has always basically negated the need for another guitarist, even from the earliest days.

@@VladimirDT ive heard its about a surviver from Columbine who committed suicide. I watched it live on tv as it was happening and for nine years i was reminded of it everyday because i lived on Columbine circle. The looks on peoples faces everytime someone asked for my address.

takes me back to when i would have Enema of the State in my discman while walking to high school.
Tom and Mark were such a good team, has never been as good when one is making music without the other. They had such great synergy. It breaks my heart that things went the way that they did. These songs take me back to a time where things felt more hopeful and full of wonder.
They still do just like Gilmour and Waters. It’ll always be there.
tom is back with them now and they are touring in 2023

This is actually a genius bass line. The fact he plays behind Tom on the fretboard and not the root during the verse, the power chords, and then the ending bridge riff. Like that's really above and beyond what this song ever needed. He doesn't get enough credit for his creativity and pushing himself 110%
EDIT: the tab I looked at had the guitar a whole step down and the bass in standard, which was why I was confused on the root note thing.
mind explaining what you mean by "following behind on the fretboard and not the root"?
@@no-lp2zh if the tabs I'm looking at are correct, when Tom plays the 5th fret Mark plays the 3rd. He plays in time with the guitar but he's not playing the same note which is kinda standard for modern rock bass
If my ears are correct, it sounds like he's exactly on the roots all the time, except a few exceptions. But the audio in this video is not helping alot.
I feel like that's the same deal with so many songs, amazing bass riffs being overshadowed by the guitar and amazing guitar riffs being overshadowed by vocals. Its a shame.

Yup… it’s strange to say, but my life was never the same without the real blink rocking. They were, are, and will be a huge part of my identity. Now the past I can do is look to a fading past of performances.

I saw Blink-182 live in some ampitheater in Tennessee back in 05. I was in the 11th row. I could feel the heat from the pyrotechnics.
