For starters disney should release a hand drawn animated movie of CATS one of the most celebrated musicals of all time🐱
Another one should be released is a handdrawn animated movie of Joseph and the amazing Technicolor dreamcoat one of the most loved🌈 and it should directed by the directors of Aladdin and the little mermaid.
And last but not least a hand drawn animated movie of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical masterpice The PHANTOM of the OPERA🌹 from the director of the animated movie of Disney's beauty and the beast.
Also Each dvd includes special features such as behind the scenes, music videos, and a documentary of musical composer Andrew Lloyd Webber himself.

I acted my role by copying the movement and gestures from the Cats performers. The hardest part was creating and learning to act my tail. I did almost no walking until we unmasked; for me unmasking meant my first wholly human movement and speech.

I remember one of the things that was most fun about the live production was getting to go up on stage at intermission. This was in the 80's - I assume they still do that as part of the show today. It was great being able to see that amazing set up close and how oversized everything was. Added plus: I think it was under the back of the car, but one of the cats was so frightened and shy, she would just put her paw out. You could put your hand down and she would lightly pet your hand - then get scared and the paw would disappear. We learned later, of course, this was Grizabella.

In the end, the execution is the important part.
Everything has been done before in some way and the grandest idea one may have is nothing if it's badly executed. If it lacks subtlety, cohesion and style, if it leaves the audience confused about everything, if the dialogue is stilted and awkward it's going to be much worse than an age old tale told with skill.
That's not to say that being overly perfectionistic can't be a vice, you have to actually get to doing what you planned on doing, but in general it's better to go the mile to ensure a good end product even if many may not be able to pick up on all the things you put into it.

Plus Elaine's version is usually more hopeful, still clinging to her pride and didn't really break down till her last verse. Jennifer's was already broken and despairing the first time she sings memory. Most people don't pretty cry even when they're only a little upset never mind completely broken up, so no, it's not ham acting, it's exactly the opposite. Ham acting would have been making all the faces to seem distraught WITHOUT also giving the ugly reality of what distraught looks like. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I honestly think that Jennifer Hudson is going to destroy Grizabella, and not in a good way. She has a powerful voice, but not a show voice (Dream Girls was different, as that musical was ABOUT the kind of voice she actually has). She can belt, sure, but I don't think she was the right pick at all. It's like she's shouting the song in the trailer instead of singing it. It also seems like the new movie coming out is making it all about Victoria, for some reason...no clue why she's the MAIN focus. She always had her ballet solo, which is beautiful, but it seems like they are making her carry the whole entire movie...

But, to comment on Victoria being the main focus, a typical Hollywood movie needs a protagonist. They need the audience to be able to relate to their protagonist. In a way, it makes sense that they will choose Victoria for that role. She's a young kitten who is only just finding her place in the world. From a writer's perspective, she's the ideal character for the audience to follow and discover this Cats world with.

What an exquisite, one of a kind musical. So much work and talent involved here. It’s a shame those incredible singers/dancers/actors are not the superstars they’d deserve to be. Althought, I’m slightly obsessed with Michael Gruber now.

My Mother has the poetry book this is based on, I love poetry(I write it as well) and always wanted it. One day at work they had thrown out some items and a few books and I found a copy of the book in the garbage, it wasn't soiled, so now I have my own.

12:20 don't worry, they did so well that not even a modern movie could even hope to compete
Putting aside the visuals of new movie, what I really missed was the small hints and interactions between the characters. Every person here knew their character and that characters role and relations to other characters and acted it out in different ways. Munkustap is the protector and you can clearly see it, Mungojerry and Rumpleteaser are mischievous and trouble makers and full of energy. I can continue on and on, but point is you can see it and feel it.
I just feel like the new movie kinda missed the point. You just don't feel it as much. They could have done so much more and better in the new movie.

It’s so funny to hear the choreographer say: “I don’t want to see our work on a video and say, wow I could have done much better”. Obviously this was not the mindset of the director of Cats film 2019. I think some, only some, Broadway shows shouldn’t be made into a film because some of the magic is lost along the way. Love Cats!

She was truly wonderful in that role. I was a bit late discovering this wonderful film, although I saw the stage production in 1982 and loved it, but my first thought when I spotted Veerle, was "My God, she looks like Lucy," a cat of mine who still, at the age of 11, lives up to her nickname of "Kittenface."

I may be biased, because I grew up watching this version all the time, but I've also heard the broadway recordings and seen a few clips of recent productions of it and this is still the best cast, in my opinion.

I don't know the first thing about music or anything like that, and it tears my brain to shreds wondering how anyone can just even come up with a simple melody let alone an entire musical. He's losing his shit over who know what here, but it sounds fine to me.

I really, really, really want to know what the explanation for the stage directions were for this. Like, Tugger just sort of appears out of nowhere doing his Rum Tum Tugger Stance, and Mistoffeeles basically runs right into him and looks up--this was actually staged!

watching this after watching the 2019 abomination along with Sideway’s video essay about it is absolutely heartbreaking. makes you wonder what could have been if they had given that 100 million budget to people who actually cared about and understood the show. it could have been an absolutely smash hit but instead we got tom hooper’s second musical dumpster fire
19:31 “you need a great cast to pull it all off because if the cast isn’t up to par, everyone else’s job is marginalized”. Hooper really should have been forced to watch this before even starting production on his “movie”

Omg, my mom had this on VHS and then later on DVD. When I was 9-10 years old, I was OBSESSED with this adaptation. I loved every single character (especially the white cat, the pretty cat that sings with Grisabella, and Mungojerry and Rumpleteaser). I think this is a major reason why I got into theater and dance so much in my life. Love always! 💘

It’s nostalgic for me because it was the first show I saw on Broadway (saw it twice after that too...) Yes, its cheesy, but the songs are catchy. And I’ve always been a “cat person.” So yeah. It’s definitely a nostalgia-bomb.
